Stan the Man, showing that pusher joke how to play real tennis. Thank you Stan for giving us such a good match.

So much for Djokovic's cake walk draw - Wawrinka, Berdych, Ferrer then Federer or Murray to top it off.

That's practically as bad as Murray's last half USO 2012 draw of Cillic, Raonic, Berdych and Djokovic.

As Joker said both guys deserved to win. Pity the lines person cost Wawrinka the match on his thunderbolt return that landed on the baseline on break point in the 5th. He got a weak short reply from Joker which Wawrinka would have put away. Wawrinka held the next service game so that would have been the match.

I'm not hating on him. I'm saying Wawrinka won.

I looked up the ATP website and I think you might be wrong.

Or maybe you maintain your own ATP stats book of match wins based on which player 'deserved to win'. In which I am sure Fed won USO 2010, USO 2011, AO 09 and Wimby 08 as well right?

Not bothering to scan back and point a finger at anyone specifically but the general vibe I get from this thread is one of derision and hate.
I'm finding it pretty uncomfortable and disrespectful to people that are fans of Djokovic on this forum.

No, he didn't. He didn't win Wimbledon 2009, either.

How is it disrespectful to Djokovic fans for me to believe and declare that Wawrinka is the deserving winner? To Djokovic, perhaps, not his fans. You're taking this way too seriously.

The sour grapes extreme in this thread will just make it that much more entertaining when Djokovic now goes on to win the tournament. Some of you are beyond pathetic. I didnt get 1% like that when my favorite player was losing 7 matches in a row to Djokovic. Djokovic is an amazing fighter and knows how to win matches from any position, proven again and again. Deal with it.

Oh yeah. The first person to win a Grand Slam after losing a match.

LOL, serving for a set and merely holding serve are two totally different things. Or did you completely miss the 2nd set?

Even though Fakeovic won I know Fed/Murray smell blood on the other side of the draw. Djokovic won't be getting lucky with the line calls and net chords and certainly won't be pushing his way to another title with that ugly tennis.

what was your favourite part of the match?

for me, it was Stanislas saving match point with an awesome backhand down the line... single-handed of course.

Exactly. That's Murray's job.

I feel like there aren't many Djokovic fans here or maybe most of them lurk. I try to be a Djokovic fan without being a "****" as people like to say around here :). I can see how he can rub people the wrong way when he's over-the-top. Few of the posts ruffle my feathers, and I even think it's fun to have a little good-natured ribbing with Clarky from time to time.

For me the entire last set. I'd gone to bed before the match started and was less than thrilled when my daughter's slumber party woke up before 7:00 am. It was such a treat to see the match was still on and so close.

Let's just face the reality here, Djokovic should be thankful to get such a cakewalk draw because when Nadal steps back into the frame he will have to deal with Murray in his half again.

LOL he maintains his won record book..... good reply for a troll

According to him Fed won USO 2011, because Djoker had a lucky shot atmatch point!!

some posters just need to be ignored in TT

Djokovic deserves his USO wins through and through. It's funny how you try to put words into my mouth because you can't argue against the relevant match. Djokovic lost today to Wawrinka. Wawrinka lost to a bad lines call. Face it, man.

If Stan had won...he would've WON. Do you understand this basic concept?

Back on topic, amazing effort by Stan. He has gained so much more respect today by all tennis fans including Nole fans. He has NOTHING to feel bad about today and I hope he will continue this form this year. Novak needs to up his game big time for the Berdych match.

He did win. The scoreboard has it wrong because of a bad call from the lines judge.

I really wish Stan won for 2 reasons: 1) New AO champion 2) Would have given him a ton of confidence, and as Stan is basically an all surface player, he could have been a significant wild card for the rest of the season.

Amazing match, very surprising. He's got to close out up 5-2...unacceptable.

Oh yeah, so lines calls can be called wrong because players have challenges. Fact is, the ball was still in, challenged or not.

No lines can be called out wrong because simply by human error these mistakes happen. And the solution to this problem at challenges. And you can blame no one but Stan himself for not challenging. Are you new to tennis or something? I mean shall we go back in history and cry about every bad call ever made which favoured a particular player to the point that they won the match?

Wawrinka was ROBBED!!

4-4 in the 5th set, on the 4th break point, Warwrinka rips a return on Djoker's 2nd serve that skids off of the baseline but it's called out. Yes, Djokovic got his racquet on it but it was a very weak return and Wawrinka would have surely put the ball away on the next shot to go up a break 5-4. Warwrinka won the next service game easily so Stan would have won the match 6-4 in the 5th!!!

The line calling at the Aus Open is TERRIBLE!!! All the linespeople should be fired!!!

Stan was ROBBED!!!!!!

Older matches are irrelevant to this topic. Point is, in this match, Wawrinka only lost because of the wrong call. So the call beat him, not Djokovic.
