Is Novak Djocovic the true 'tennis machine'

Three words when ND is on top form: Ruthless, emotionless and flawless. When Djocovic is on top of his game, no one in the world can beat him in my opinion. Not even Federer 2007 or Nadal 2010. He is by far one of the best all court players I have ever seen, there isn't one flaw in his game. What I respect most is his will to win. So anyone think he can get a first open era 'Grand Glam' this year.

I love Novak, and I've bet my husband $20 that he'll get the CYGS this year :) I'll be shocked beyond belief if it actually happens, though.

I think there are times when he plays near flawless tennis, but his game has plenty of flaws. He's often a slow starter, and I've seen it cost him matches especially when it's best of 3. His volleys and overhands can be laughable at times, etc.

I think his volleys is one of his most improved shot, pre-2011 they used to be a joke, but I still loved the guy due to his flamboyant nature.

I think Novak is anything BUT an emotionless person. Also, I think he has this belief that he cannot yet stand up to the personna that Fed has created with his huge records. So on a good day with both players playing their best, he can be a bit short against Fed (mentally). The only person who shattered the awe that Fed commanded was Rafa.
Fed, I am sure, feels he can still beat Novak or Andy in a major. I dont think he feels the same about Rafa. And credit to Rafa for that.

But the opposite goes for Rafa to Djocovic. Rafa had Novaks number till 2011, when he started beating him to all corners. Since then Nadal vs Djocovic has been close encounters, with Djocovic coming out on top.

I hope that when *******s were making threads like this Fed at least had double digit majors.

Overhead is one. Final game of last years' final. Tired so the poor technique comes out.

When he wins the Calendar Year Grand Slam, this name would be appropriate. But the last 2 years at RG and the USO final last yr show there is still a fragility under the surface that can come out if he's pressured and gets off to a bad start.

I get the machine dokimance aspect, but I still think prime Federer is in a class of his own and was better than peak Djokovic

doping and acting, what makes you say that?

He just had to say something, so are the words.

Fed has been on Ped from 2003. How can someone who has not won any slam suddenly rack up 10 slams in like 3 years time...... Atleast Novak's progress has been believable.

Acting wise, we can rewind the presentation ceremony of AO 2009. Cry baby was trying to get all the attention despite getting a spanking from his boss.

add to acting, remember when he beat Roddick for his 6th wimbledon? He had a jacket prepared with 15 grand slams.

What's their to lol about?

Djokovic is one of the most emotional players on the tour.

When he is destroying his opponents: Loud roars, fist pumping, chest-thumping

When he is getting destroyed by his opponent: Non-stop whining to Vajda and the rest of his box, racquet smashing, slumping shoulders, pulls out his cross and starts talking to the sky...the list goes on.

That guy is anything but emotionless and that does not really take anything away from his game. He is still a legend.

But when he is in full flow, he almost seems emotionless. He seems to have nerves of steel at times, would you agree?

There are many things one could say about Nole but emotionless is not one of them... I agree he's mentally tough as nails. ETA: flawless, no of course, every player has flaws.

Yes how sick is that..... Someone who glorifies his own victory while beating his favorite pegion. People here complain about shirt ripping and being classless

If it was Nadal or Djocovic with the jumper, they would be criticized till their deathbeds.

This is a era of no single player can dominate the entire year. Last year's majors is the perfect evidence - 4 different champs. Unless Djoker is on dope there is just no way he can repeat his 2011 run, just like Rafa could not repeat his 2010 run. Both of them are defensive centric players who needs a lot of run and guns, long rally, and not enough net play to close out points.

I see Djoker winning 2 majors at the most this year.

Yep, what stands out for me is things like his run at the 2006 Australian open, he did not drop a set, and on the other side of the final was Fernando Gonzalez, if anyone cares to remember he was absolutely on fire in this tournament disposed of nadal in straights at the semis, with only 4 unforced errors the entire match, It was very much like Djokers display of dominance last night, when Fernando beat Nadal in the semis he was getting absolutely every ball in, 20-30 shot rallies would end with a FHDTL a BHDTL, you name it, I was scared for federer, but come final time Federer had no problems beating Gonzalez, in straight sets he did, even when people had miracle runs, federer would seemingly never lose to them when he was in his prime, bit like djokovic today, but Fred in his prime won 11 grandslams in 4 years, and in those 4 years consistently had year ending win rates of 95-90%, more impressive then Djokers right now, but we'll see how the next 2 years pan out for Djoker, assuming his prime ends at 27, as Federers sort of did

I would bet my house that was entirely Nikes idea, Nike would be very proud for having federer on their list and would be equally happy to show off all his achievements in his apparel, shoes (his shoes usually have symbols of how many grandslams his one, as his playing in each particular one)

In the end it may have been Federers idea to agree to it all, but why shouldn't he, his earned that right

I am starting to suspect steroids are involved. The recovery times for some of these players is rediculous in itself, not to mention speed, /power etc. Granted technology has definitely helped in these areas. Imagine if it came out especially with certain players, who would have to give their grand slam titles back.

Just watch the Sampras match at WO, listen to the commentaries and you will know how and why.

He is the favorite for AO and USO. Not for the other two.

Also, if Murray wins tomorrow, remember Novak will not have even 1 of the major.
