Nadal says that his knee still hurts

You have to go on Twitter and check it out. There are some real deranged and obsessive fans. Federer has those type of fans too. It is scary and I can just imagine Nadal and Federer laughing their a$$es off at these type of fans. It is all well and good to be a fan of a player and support that player but many of these people live and breathe these players. They talk about crying all day when they hear of Nadal's latest injury problem and how they can't cope, etc. etc. These people need professional psychological help. You would laugh your head off, check it out.

Omg. I'm embarrassed for these people. That is definitely taking it way too far. Don't these people realize that these guys don't give a crap about them? They just need their money to get rich and stay that way, and need their ego fed with their ott adulation. They all need their heads examined.

Because it doesn't give him anywhere near the problems Nadal's foot and knees give him? Because it hasn't kept him out the game for several stretches of time with the latest injury time out lasting nearly a year?
his knees havent but his wrist has in 2007. murray is as injury prone as nadal he has just had more luck on his side. del po is another example as he was out for a very long time with problems with his wrist.

If any of you guys have read his book, Nadal has a foot problem which means he has to wear special insoles to even be able to play. The insoles cause his movement to put extra strain on his knees, so no matter what, his knees are always going to have extra strain on them, even if he moved as gracefully as Federer.

I think it's a misconception that his style of play is what causes his knee problems. There are plenty of players out there who grind even more than Nadal, and their knees are just fine.

So what your saying is, Nadal's style of play doesn't cause his foot problems, Nadal's style of play causes his foot problems, which cause his knee problems.

Nadal adapted his game around 2007-08. You saw that he started really hitting the FH with more authority and that allowed him to win on grass and hardcourts, but his movement was still basically the same.

Agassi stood on the other side of the court with him and he said that Nadal was writing checks his body couldn't cash. Agassi knows what he's talking about, and he wasn't saying that about anybody else.

There is no such thing as luck. Luck is just probability taken personally.

He must be petrified of some of his fans on Twitter. They are downright embarrassing and they practically stalk Nadal. You have grown women and men who do nothing but talk about Nadal ALL day on Twitter. These are grown people, what kind of behavior is that? It is sickening. Nadal must laugh his *** off at these type of fans.

I have said it several times on here. Nadal has the weirdest fans. They like to claim that Fed fans are the same way, but they are just projecting.

Proof: There isn't a thread on TTW titled "Federer News" with 700+ pages, many of which are spent talking about Fed's fashion choices and muscle tone.

Wrong. Nadal has a congenital defect in his foot that has led to his knee troubles. His career would have been over in 2005 if not for special shoe inserts that allow him to play. The drawback is his knees take most of the brunt because of his foot problem. It has cut his career short for sure.

Really? Please go to Fed's website and read through his forums there. That place is like a cult, and they positively worship Fed like he's God himself. Fed fans are just as bad if not worse about their hero worship. I hope that when Fed retires they don't pass out the Kool-Aid over there that how bad it is.

People have all kinds of congenital issues. There's a major league pitcher out there that missing a ligament in his elbow and nobody even noticed until he took his physical after being drafted. We all have physical limitations and we only discover them until they are tested.

What you just described sounds like the "Nadal news" thread. And that's not even his website.

No, the "Nadal news" thread is nothing like the glorification that occurs on the Fed forum. What is wrong with discussing someone's appearance and gossiping every once in a while, since when does that make you a crazed ****? It's nothing like the vomit inducing worship that occurs on Fed's forum and sometimes even here. When people talk about his God like abilities at tennis, or how the tennis court is his canvas and he is an artist painting a masterpiece with his racket. Or how peRFect he is and when he plays it brings a tear to everyone's eyes because everything he does is so beautiful.

Of course most fans aren't like this, but they do exist.

This is why nadal gets 2.5MM to play for 2 hours at exos. Yeah they def need help but cant blame rafa for perpetuating it.

Oh another troll on Fed's website. This is enlightening. You should be embarrassed.

I actually can't find the quote, can you? He said he would want to be a 100 % for MC, but I too recall him saying somewhere in the fall that he would not come back before being a 100 %.

But my real priority is just getting back playing tennis as soon as possible, and only when I’m genuinely 100% fit.

so you just go there to read posts of his fans? LOL. Talk about having too much time on your hands.

Umm no, I've only been a couple of times. I actually like Federer so just because I'm a bigger fan of someone else I'm automatically not allowed to go on the forum?

Keep on making those assumptions.

Just because I don't like over the top fans doesn't mean I don't like Federer (never said I'm a fan btw). You need to differentiate between disliking a fan and disliking the player.

Gotta agree with you here. Fed is my favourite player, but I'm a fan, not a ****. Almost all (if not all) of the posts on Fed's website are way over the top. Disgusting really. Even the articles are like "Our king escaped a 2 set deficit today." Or our Roger or our champ. Then you'll get comments like

OMGZZZ Roger
LOVE YOUUUUU!
May you be blessed with eternal gifts Roger!
You are SOOOO PeRFect Roger!

Suspension is about to expire, but he still needs to talk about the knee so it looks reliable.

There were several upstanding posters here that informed me that Nadal's silent ban was only six months long and 8 months will have passed by the time that Nadal starts playing again.

Maybe they extended it. Or maybe he realized there was no point coming back for the HC tournies. Might as well wait for clay.

What happened with "I will play ONLY if I am 100%"?

There's no such thing as 100% with Nadal's physical problems, there is only pain and less pain.

Nadal is still in pain after 7 MONTHS but it's probably down at a manageable level since he has been practicing for several days and hasn't stopped as far as we know(unlike say, before USO, where he hit a couple of sessions back at home and withdrew from the slam). And if you check out the practice vids, his movement is pretty slow and cumbersome, even on his favourite surface. Or do you think he is faking that as well?

My guess is that he will play the first tourney and see how well it goes physically because that is the main thing to test for Nadal here. The draw for his first tourney is pretty weak and he only stands to gain a meager 250 points but the surface is a soft one. If his pain level is still manageable after a week of competitive tennis, then I think he will play the rest of the Golden Swing. If not, we may not see him again until the first clay MS.

Oh man, it's worse then I thought. I'm sure every fan has had their moments, but that is ridiculous. If I start blessing Nadal with eternal gifts I'll know it's time to sort out my priorities.

I wonder if Federer reads through those posts and facepalms from embarrassment.

That was not a real post BTW. And I guess it all just confirms that Federer is the most loved sports figure in the world. :)

federer  probably feeds on it ravenously, so that his oversized, fragile ego is not malnourished. :p

Yes, I am a big Federer fan but most of the comments by his ardent fans on his website are nauseating. I have not been on that site for a long time and I only go there if I want to check out Federer's schedule. Many Nadal fans are just as bad however. I would say it is a tie. They both have some over the top crazy fans.

Agreed. I actually fear for federer (but not much) after seeing the footage of the Seles incident. :p

Then you haven't seen the good threads. Ever tried the "Technical thread?" One of the best I've come across. Genuinely good stuff.

I'll never understand why some people dislike Nadal. I just don't get it. Watching him play is like watching the very essence of what it means to compete in sport.

Nope. I don't even post there. One doesn't have to post to see the crazy that exists over there.

Oh, and nice name calling. I'd telll you what I think of you but it would get me banned so I won't.

*Reason1: His style
*Reason2: He COULD have been a much more agressive player.(Anybody, who watched him early in his career, knows, what I am talking about). I think, that we were robbed of possibly the most spectacular clash with agressive tennis in the last 40 years.
*Reason3: Gamesmanship

*not in particular order

1. What do you mean by style??? His personal superficial style?

2. He wasn't going to "out-agressive" Federer to get to #1. You could dislike any player for not playing your personal strategy. You gotta be impressed with the results.

3. It's a game! Of course he's going to use gamesmanship. Most champions do. You'd have to dislike A LOT of champions then.

there will always be haters when people are super successful, and also everyone is allowed to have their own opinion.
