Nadal says that his knee still hurts

Nadal's gamesmanship is very minor when compared to other champions like Mcenroe, Murray and Djoker & etc.

As far as Henin retirement is not gamesmanship --it doesn't help you win. Hand raise, yes, but don't go down the WTA path. It's even more extreme than the men.

Nadal has done very little and I don't want to hear about asking to stop play in a down pour at the FO.

why be suprised? you are responding to a Henin fan, he is used to rooting for players with no integrity.

remember the henin 'hand raise' and then the dubious AO retirement.

There's no such thing as 100% with Nadal's physical problems, there is only pain and less pain.

Nadal is still in pain after 7 MONTHS but it's probably down at a manageable level since he has been practicing for several days and hasn't stopped as far as we know(unlike say, before USO, where he hit a couple of sessions back at home and withdrew from the slam). And if you check out the practice vids, his movement is pretty slow and cumbersome, even on his favourite surface. Or do you think he is faking that as well?

Man don't even bother with some of these people in explaining something in regards to Rafa

Please Murray and Djoker dont engage in gamesmanship nearly as much as Rafa, but I agree, he is far behind JMac.

I'll never understand why some people dislike Nadal. I just don't get it. Watching him play is like watching the very essence of what it means to compete in sport.
"If you don't like watching Nadal play, you don't like sports".

If you don't understand why some people dislike him, then you have your hand firmly planted in the sand, both in what has been presented about him and the things that he does, most notably openly and continually cheating.

I have said it several times on here. Nadal has the weirdest fans. They like to claim that Fed fans are the same way, but they are just projecting.

Proof: There isn't a thread on TTW titled "Federer News" with 700+ pages, many of which are spent talking about Fed's fashion choices and muscle tone.

You're just going to keep on going about this, aren't you?. The Nadal News thread has so many posts because his fans usually post there instead on tarting new threads, because new threads get infected with haters. This thread is as good an example as any.

No, the "Nadal news" thread is nothing like the glorification that occurs on the Fed forum. What is wrong with discussing someone's appearance and gossiping every once in a while, since when does that make you a crazed ****? It's nothing like the vomit inducing worship that occurs on Fed's forum and sometimes even here. When people talk about his God like abilities at tennis, or how the tennis court is his canvas and he is an artist painting a masterpiece with his racket. Or how peRFect he is and when he plays it brings a tear to everyone's eyes because everything he does is so beautiful.

Of course most fans aren't like this, but they do exist.

Precisely. You really just have to see the way many of his fans behave here. I don't even want to see how it is on a Federer forum.

It would make a good case study for a mental health expert. Lol. That place is like a church with Fed as their God. It's a cult.

you made the accusation. Where's your proof that McEnroe, Murray and Djoker are greater offenders than Nada? The onus isn't on me. But hey, thanks for playing.

You're asking a General Pro Player Discussion occupant for proof? Maybe you should start by asking him/her about the concept of proof/evidence first. :)

1. What do you mean by style??? His personal superficial style?

2. He wasn't going to "out-agressive" Federer to get to #1. You could dislike any player for not playing your personal strategy. You gotta be impressed with the results.

3. It's a game! Of course he's going to use gamesmanship. Most champions do. You'd have to dislike A LOT of champions then.

1.Grinding

2.There is not knowing that, but Miami showed, that he has the ability

3.I pity you and the likes of you

Lol, I guess it would.

Maybe we'll see in a few years a Federanian Church, kinda like the Maradoniana Church in Argentina :)

I would say there's no "proof" that he does. But there's certainly a lot of suspicion therefore there must be something that indicates that he does.

There is no proof any of them are doping which is why they are still allowed to play. But in terms of using steroids you cannot just target Nadal, in all honesty Murray, Djokovic, Federer, etc. should all be suspected just as much.

I know athletes in college (all sports, tennis included) that took steroids to improve their game. So if kids who aren't even pros are taking them chances are the pros are too. I still can't honestly believe that these guys are able to play 5 setters then bounce back the match right after without having some help.

There are also a non-insignificant number of people who believe that 9/11 was an inside job and that the US never landed on the moon.

Of course you're right: no one is beyond suspicion. But to say that some players aren't more suspect than others is simply not true.

I am positive Nadal's style of play has a lot more do with his injury issues than anything else. It is scary seeing him hit many of those backhand shots.. the knee looks like it'll pop. Feddie (and even Murray) on the other hand make it look so much easier.

Thanks - good reply.

So you think that Murray, Nole and Fed along with many others, could also be doping but there is nothing to indicate that they do.

I appreciate your candid response.

I actually think there's some reason to suspect Novak. But there's also reason to think he's clean. Certainly nothing which would justify pointing fingers.

I would say there's no "proof" that he does. But there's certainly a lot of suspicion therefore there must be something that indicates that he does.

I think that what that indicates is something quite different.

Athletes in college would, one, have a less strict anti-doping system, and two, have a LOT less to lose if caught.

100%, these blind worshippers can't see a thing because they are too emotionally involved in their favorite player. Nobody is saying the other players don't dope, but there has been the most smoke around Nadal for so many years for a reason. Just like some of the Armstrong loons who still believe Armstrong is not guilty even though he confessed, Nadal could confess and they would still think he was set up in some way. You just have to laugh at these kinds of people, because you will never convince them to be able to see logic.

If you are talking about Armstrong then I agree. But in Nadal's case, please don't peddle 'big muscles' and 'long injury layoffs' as some kind of 'irrefutable logic'.

Logic would be evidence such as "Nadal refused to give a blood sample when testing was conducted" or logic would be 'Nadal exhibits xyz physical symptoms which have a 97% correlation with epo usage'. THAT is logic. Saying Nadal's knees LOOK fine so he can't be injured hence LOGIC = silent ban is - that's fitting marginal data points to a narrative.

Find the evidence then explain the story. Don't create the story you want and then find ways to justify it. " It was a 6 month silent ban that then got extended 2 months.....The ATP wants to teach Rafa a lesson, but not too much of a lesson" Rubbish.

I am amazed that some of you lot are unable to realise that to get where the top four are takes hard graft - do any of you know what that means? It means you work hard - really hard until it hurts and- no- not everyone take stimulants to achieve their dream. Why not have a go. You may find something in yourself you never knew existed

What the f-ckity f-ck are you talking about? All I said was that Nadal has had more suspicion around him than any other player. It is not my problem if you are in denial about this fact. As to the rest of your post, if I could actually understand it I would respond but it makes zero sense.

Is that a fact or just your opinion based on the sample size of TW. Obviously I know that IN THIS FORUM he is the most suspected top player but this forum is not representative of public OR expert opinion. Show me a group of reputed tennis experts (former players, commentators etc leveling accusations at Nadal AND THEN you can state that there is general suspicion around him). Random blog posts on the internet and fan talk on this forum are hardly reliable causes for suspicion.

Nadal is still not clear when the silent ban will end or will they limit the amount of tournaments he can enter for the rest of the season. They already said no to the Australian Open.

Great post.

If 10 yrs from now we find out the ATP was just like cycling (including all of the Big 4), I'll be disappointed. But I won't fall of the couch in shock. When there's so much money to be earned, everyone's going to look for an edge. And will rationalize their use: "Everyone else was" or "the fans wanted to see us play" or "the ATP and the tournaments make so much money off us", etc...

Tell us then, why did the ITF find it necessary to test Nadal "6 or 7 times" since he announced he was coming back? Doesn't that seem a little much for an organization that has been seriously lax in its testing?

Read it and weep... http://www.iol.co.za/sport/tennis/new-racket-bigger-business-for-nadal-1.1461213#.UQxjeh0TJqU

I'd like to hear your reasoning. Why test a player, who has apparently been out with an injury, that many times? Or are the ITF conspiracy theorists too?

Why has Lance not had a single blood test done in 7 months? When was the last time he was OOC tested at all? He is just as suspicious as anyone, and has had the biggest jump in performance over the shortest period of time I have ever seen in all the years I have been watching tennis. If anyone deserves to be tested and tested often, it's Lance.

Good question. Ask WADA and the ITF.

But what's the point of saying that? I mean except for aggravating the Nadal fan base? IF Nadal is doping, well then 100% so are Federer, Djokovic and Murray. Thus in that case there really is no need to single Nadal out.

If Nadal isn't doping, then all the "extra" suspicion on him means jack sh-t anyway, and so again there is no need to single him out.

Thus what does anyone accomplish by saying there is "more suspicion" on Nadal? Until unless you are just in a trolling mood, I just don't see the point.

As for the topic, sucks about Nadal's pain, I thought he would have recovered by now from that atleast.

For me, the chances of the top 5 players doping would be in this order:

1. Nadal
.
.
.
.
.
2. Nole
.
.
.
.
.
3. Ferrer
4. Murray
5. Federer

Can you not see the obvious ? You know, the ******* obvious. probably 80% of cc0509 posts are about Rafa's doping. If there is a rally regarding this, he'd be holding a placard and will be spearheading that Cause (if there isn't already one) !!:twisted:
