Who falls out of the top 10 first?
Bartoli
Stosur
Kerber
Errani
Kvitova

It's going to be close given the way they're playing or nurturing injuries (Kerber). I would say Bartoli, but Wozniacki, Petrova, and Ivanovic don't strike me as getting any better. I'd LOL if Cibulkova or Kirilenko got top 10, but this is WTA so just watch that happen.

Bartoli first. Errani and Stosur will likely be there until after the French open (especially Errani with finalist points). Kvitova won the US Open series and has a QF at Wimbledon amd SF at the French so she to will be there a while. Kerber I am not sure but I would say she will possibly fall after Bartoli if she doesn't right her wagon

Rude towards Lisicki :( I think she's quite a cute girl, and she has trimmed down quite a bit over the offseason.

I am glad to see her in the finals of pattaya city. I know she can win the event, but I also know she could throw it away if she goes into error mode.

I think Sloane has a great shot to make the top 10. She still needs to polish a few areas in her game, but it's quite doable.

Mona Barthel is in the final of Paris GDF Suez open against Errani.

Very happy for her.

Is Barthel finally making the breakthru we were waiting for?
Certainly hope so.

Another fine development in WTA!
Have a feeling 2013 is gonna be a good year,,,

If her serve is off, she always loses. A shorter, thicker Karlovic...

I don't think so. It's more her go for broke style on returns and every other groundstroke that gets her into trouble. From what I've observed her serve % is almost always in the 50's. She wins and loses serving 50%. The stronger girls do pick on her 2nd serve a bit though.

Errani is the worst top 10 player currently, it disgusts me that she is there! The sooner she's back to her journeywoman-ranking days the better. Hopefully Barthel flattens that shrimpy loud-mouthed pusher.

Hey, I would rather see her play than Sharapova-S. Williams-Azarenka-Radwanksa-Kerber...

It's boring seeing the same players at most finals in tournaments.. :-|

WTA is worse in variety than ATP.

You do realize there's only been six slam winners on the ATP since 2005 (Safin, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Del Potro). 33 of the last 37 majors have been won by just three men. It's so bad on the ATP now that you can pretty much pencil in Federer/Nadal/Djokovic/Murray for the SFs. Ferrer made the AO SF and was executed, with few predicting anything different. Meanwhile, Generation Puke (88-91 excluding Del Potro) is mostly a lost generation.

In that same time frame WTA has had Mauresmo, Henin, Sharapova, Serena, Venus, Ivanovic, Kuznetsova, Clijsters, Schiavone, Li, Kvitova, Stosur, Azarenka hoist slam trophies.

Yeah, that's true.

But some WTA players you just mentioned there play exactly the same as each other.

Absolutely not. Pushers have no place in the top 10, especially a tier-2 pusher like Errani. Talk about boring? The FO final and USO semifinals speak for themselves. How she even got that far in those tournaments is beyond me.

And which of the top men's styles is unique and unprecedented?

I find the players who have to rely on something other than power refreshing. The Errani Kerber match from the us open was riveting. Point construction, all court play, grit.

Errani is a tough player it's no mistake she is where she is in the rankings. She can play. First time I saw her was about three years ago she just dominated Patty Schnyder at US Open. Stunningly easy too.

I do agree with you, and I'll give you Kerber (she can actually hit winners when she wants to, as well as play some amazing defense) but Errani is a PUSHER, not a crafty player like Radwanska. Errani is even harder to watch than Wozniacki with that hideous manly grunting (if you even want to call a 2-syllable shout a 'grunt').

This is what irritates me most! I would normally root for her, being short and using craft to work her opponents, but that grunt makes me hate her! I can tolerate a lot of annoying grunts, but hers is top tier. I just can't stand it when she hits her little puffballs and lets out one of those squawks and starts stomping around like she's some kind of bada$$. Freakin' chihuahua! So annoying!

Seriously?

Over half of the top 10 in WTA are pushers...In fact, make that top 20..

You see bad match ups all the time and bore the heck out of me...

Errani is not the only grunter out there that is annoying...

I'm not leaving ATP out of the picture, they are just as bad..

I hate Errani and everything about her game and personality. I am sorry. I also think it is a total joke she won Player of the Year over Kerber last year. I hope she falls out of the top 30 this year. I also think she is a huge PED abuser, probably thrice as pumped as even Djokovic and Nadal might be, and that explains her fast rise from obscurity last year.

Sorry but this post is ridiculous, name me the top 20 players that are pushers besides Wozniacki and Errani (if you want to call her a pusher). Who are the other 8? Radwanska? Kirilenko? Maybe you could try and argue them and maybe Kerber if you really go out on a limb..go ahead name the other 5+. Actually name the 5 top 10 players who are pushers, that alone ought to be creative.

As for the fact that having the Top 4 players in the world always making the SF being a bad this...ya its totally horrible that players actually..you know..live up to their rankings and seedings and show why they are the best. Thats totally horrible.

The only credible thing in this post is that Errani isn't the only annoying grunter.

Yeah, but seeing the same players play each other year round is boring and keeps other people besides me from watching it. I know for a fact that people have the same opinions as me here. This increases expectancy and decreases surprise.
Ferrer (#4) is not talented or has any skill. He can only beat lesser players at the mental game. Check his last match with Almagro for reference. Please, let's not go there.

Easy.

Obviously, the easy ones are Sharapova and Azarenka. This match between these too alone is a worse match up than Djokovic and Murray.
Okay, 3 more. Another one is Stosur, check her latest match with Jankovic for reference as well. The last two are Kvitova and Bartoli.

This is why I don't watch WTA anymore. Younger players like Bouchard will never see a spot at top 10 any time soon... not even top 50. This is because that tennis has devolved from skill to physicality which closes the doors to decent players but cannot last to other players like S.Williams which is disappointing.

You don't have to agree with my opinion. To each his own. But the facts are visible within the matches these women have played.

In response I suggest you look up what a pusher is..look at Woz and then try and tell me sharapova is a pusher because there is no way by any stretch of the imagination that she is a pusher. Sharapova is a poor womens Serena Williams in every way and if Maria is a pusher then you may as well try and call Serena one. Kvitova is a davenport clone and if you think she to is a pusher then you are wrong.

It is clear you really do not watch womens tennis because you lost all credibility by calling Sharapova a pusher.

I'd like to see her in the top10. She's a feisty attacking player even if she doesn't have the power of the big hitters.

Her match against ARad at Wimbledon was good to watch.

She has also had some good matches against Stosur, USO 2011 and Beijing 2011 I think were the good matches if I remember correctly.

Lisicki is a choker of the highest order. She has a nice aggressive game and finds herself constantly leading in a match only to choke it away.

As to her weight, her legs are the size of a bulldozer.

sloane doesn't have it in her mentally or game-wise to beat non-injured top 5 players. She needs to be more aggressive when it counts in order to make it to the top 10.

she pushes will though. Like a WTA version of Gilles Simon. perhaps she should emulate David Ferrer and Gilles Simon more.

I was thinking during the match that Barthel is what Kvitova would be were she 1) fit 2) a much quicker and better mover and 3) right handed.

girls got game and like Kvitty, she is dangerous on a fast court.

This tourney I came away majorly impressed by Bertens and Barthel

All this talk about pushers. And WTA has been accused of being nothing but brainless ball bashers?

Defensive/Pushers/Passive players in the top 20:
Azarenka
Radwanska
Kerber
Errani
Wozniacki
Stephens
Vinci (IMO she's more all-court)

That's only 7 there out of the top 20 the way I see it.

Add me to the list. I'm sorry too. Was more than happy to see Barthel come through in this final.

And I can't stand that tag team routine that Errani has going on with Vinci.

Did my ears deceive me or did Errani not even have the presence of mind to congratulate Barthel in the post-match ceremony? She was too busy thanking her 'coach' Roberta.

I'd say Azarenka is a bit of a stretch for this list... while she may not be as straightforwardly aggressive as someone like Sharapova or Williams she is definitely able to dictate play just as well with her shot consistency, angles, and her ability to play defense AND offense (plus she hits the ball pretty hard--a tier below Maria/Serena/Lisicki/etc but also a tier above Woz/Radwanska/Errani when it comes to power).

Kirilenko is fun to watch and not that this has anything to do with the discussion but she has the best body on the women's tour imo.

She's extremely fit but has no womanly attributes--flat chest, no curves. Her body is reminiscent of a prepubescent boy. That said, she has a lovely face.
