can't believe i missed the Gulbis vs. Haase match. his next one should be really interesting, playing the winner of Monfils Vs. DelPotro.
gulbis' stats look great... i'm tempted to use the word 'promising' but there's some jinxing potential in it, so i won't. :)
he already defeated del potro (when he won LA, i think)... why not do it again ?

What's up with Goffin? He's just going for winners on every ball and it's not working out!
ouch... :-?
2nd time nieminen gives a double bagel on the tour.
(1st victim was korolev in 2007)

Vive, I agree - Gulbis to take out Del Po. When he is on fire like this he is so so hard to stop. His tennis is from another planet. He can go all the way this week. True, we might not see him in another main draw all year but that's just the way it is. He can expose Delpo's movement for sure. Gulbis for the win. PS he is so exciting to watch!

Gulbis! Not only has he gone to the bother of qualifying (with ease), but he has gone and bagged himself a pretty OK draw too. Would love to see him go deep like at Rome in 2010. I love him.

Exciting player. But, that may completely depend on how many chics are hanging around the stadium ;-).

Hopefully Grigor can back up this win and make a solid run here. He needs the confidence heading into IW where he has some points to defend

Very disappointing start of '13 for the Belgian...one match win came in Brisbane. On the other side, Jarkko likes indoor HC swings in Europe, so I was expecting this win but certainly not a double bagel.

Incredible that a player can avoid playing until Wednesday evening during an event that starts on Monday.
To be fair, Gasquet did play and win Montpellier last week. Best to give him some time to arrive, rest and adjust to the surface.

But if you were talking about Seppi, I agree, he should have already played a match.

Rogi actually, not up until 6.30pm tonight. Why not space it out a little...

This is shocking!

Gulbis says, not only has he quit drinking, partying and smoking, he has actually been practising!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFqBfa2oPSo

Wow... I didn't expect that...

Mehh.. I know he said all of that at the end but it might as well have been some mandatory stuff that all players say: "I'm working hard, hope to get my ranking up, blablabla"

Most I got out of that interview was: "I didn't play the AO because it's too far away and I don't feel like making the effort if I have to play qualies" and "I like Rotterdam because of marijuana".

he does have pretty eyes though (no ****..)

ETA: Just saw the highlights. I never really watched Gulbis play. He reminds me a bit of Safin but I don't know if it is his playing style or his attitude. He also does something strange with his left arm during his forehand backswing.

he's up against Davydenko next... if he's in playstation mode there's not much that Grigor can do about it... should be fun.

it's good to see gasquet continue his solid form. this is shaping up to be a nice tournament.

Well I wouldn't say it was surprisingly good. Was quite ******** mode at the start, but after saving 2 BPs when 1-2 down he upped his game. Now he's in the normal routine mode.

How's the Dimitrov-Davydenko match going? Who is the better player? I just tuned in.

Edit: Dimi looking strong on serve, only lost 1 point in 5 games.

Davydenko must need money, fixing matches again.

Fixing matches goes on a lot more than you think it does. A lot of these players have the mindset that they can make a couple hundred thousand by losing in an early round rather than have to work hard to try and win a tournament or get to the SF(which they probably won't) in order to make the same amount or more. Every time you see a retirement by a better player in a match and every time you see a better player mysteriously lose a match, you have to at least suspect match fixing. It is a huge business. According to a Swedish website, it says that right in the article. Doesn't make it true, but my point is that match fixing is huge in professional sports and probably goes on a lot more than we think. There have been many articles about this topic lately in the media.

i saw that but i meant... where/how does the swedish website come up with that list ?
i guess i should make a google translation of what's written in swedish... but maybe some of our swedophone TTW members could help us ? ;)

Solid match from Dimitrov. If he plays Gasquet it will be interesting, I expect Richard to be a little bit tired physically and mentally after coming from Montpellier.
