What's a "PU" grip?

What does "PU" stand for?

Edit: I know Karakal makes a product called the Super PU. What is it? An overgrip or a replacement grip? It's confusing, because on their web site, they have a section for replacement grips and they have a different section for the Super PU grip, but they don't explain the difference.

Polyurethane, huh? That was kind of obvious :)

Anyway, is the Karakal Super PU grip an overgrip or a replacement grip. I searched and am much more confused, because there are people who refer to it as one thing and others who refer to it as the other :confused:

a PU grip is a replacement grip and it's something that I now have on many of my racquets under my overgrip.

Why I put it on all my racquets? Simple, it's long,, it's tacky, it weights only 15g and it's quite thin (90% of the time it's thinner that the original repl grip of the racquet). No dimples, no holes, no nothing, simple and efficient. Don't believe me? Ask Henman.

It's the number one selling repl grip in squash in the world.

As I understand it, PU is a material that is used for many applications. Many multi strings use it as an immersion, or matrix, to soften the string and to reduce vibration. Furniture glue has a lot of PU in it. It's used for many tennis grips and overgrips because it's tacky, soft, durable and absorbs vibration.

PU is like a glue. Glue does not absorb sweat so count on the fact that it will make your grip slippery. Also, PU does not absorb vibration, lol.

a materials engineer can design rubbery Urethane into any spec you need

I have several frames with Karakal PU Super installed as base grip.
Works well As-is but prefer to overgrip.

It's used in glues, but it's not a glue. It can be used in grips without them being slippery, but oftentimes wet tacky grips do get slippery. And about PU not absorbing vibration, can anyone clarify this?
