Still no talk about it yet?

Vettel's still the fastest guy out there on a single lap, has been for quite a long time now, will probably break the record of poles currently hold by, or course- the greatest of them all Michael Schumacher.

-Kimi is back with good chance to take the title- hopefully He will.

-Alonso is always there- will He win this year?? I don't think so.

-Hamilton with Mercedes- Mercedes has improved, but no title.

-Another great race in Sepang, with Vettel winning it.

Looks to be promising this year.

What do you guys think?

Vettel the fastest guy out there? Well, both races so far this season completely disprove that.

All this race proved so far as Vettel is concerned it what a complete wanker he is. It was so funny to see Mark Webber basically call him a cheat in the on-podium interviews ha ha. The Redbull team management must be shaking their heads - they have a 1-2 victory and the focus of almost all motorsport media so far has been what an unsporting prat Vettel is. Their sponsors must be loving it (sic).

No doubt He is the fastest guy on a single lap, if you didn't read it right, just go back and re-read it.

How is He a wanker?

Last three titles, more poles than anybody else...

Try again perhaps?

Fastest lap
Melbourne: Kimi Raikkonen 1:29.27 (Vettel was 10th)
Malaysia: Sergio Perez 1:39.199 (Vettel was 3rd)

Massa did faster laps than Vettel at both races. By rights even he's got more rights to boast so far than Vettel in that respect.

How is He a wanker?
Did you watch the race? Yes or no? If "no" - don't comment until you have. Vettel is eating humble pie and I doubt much will keep Webber from taking more swipes at him during the season until the team either has to address it publicly (or let Webber go). The PR for the team has been poor on a few occasions before but today's behaviour from Vettel warrants widespread condemnation. He makes himself a role model for no-one. If it's his intention to become the next Schumacher in terms of being a sportsman who is equally thought of in terms of his unsporting antics as he is for his ability to win then he's succeeding.

Last three titles, more poles than anybody else...
Irrelevant. Schumacher had won 5 in a row before Alonso won two. Alonso didn't go into those seasons thinking: Schumy is on 5, why do I even bother?

Pole Positions???

If you didn't understand what I meant by fastest guy on a single lap, yeah, I'll try it again, no problem:

Qualifying results, or if you prefer, pole positions, 2 out of 2.

Race nowadays is about saving tires, if a guy changes his tires in the last 5 laps put new rubber on, soft He will automatically have a fastest lap, so nowadays judging fastest lap is irrelevant, unless everybody pits on on the same time with the same number of stops.

I know Poles don't mean much, what matters is the win(s), nonetheless he is the fastest guy out there, no matter what situation He is always there, in a whole season he is the fastest, has been for quite awhile.

Humility isn't bad, it's actually a quality.

I only saw the highlights and the highlight of the highlights was Alonso's stupidity, lol, that is a wanker right there.

Care to share what's happening with Vettel and the happenings ?

never mind I just saw what happened.

So Red Bull demands Vettel to stay in 2nd, but He disobey the team order and pass Webber.

That's my boy, Alonso would have done the same, as He has in the same track before a pit stop with Massa on his first Ferrari year.

When push comes to shove we all know Webber doesn't deliver, so Vettel deserved it, He earned it, he showed how much desire he has in being a Champion, that is why He has won 3 and will probably win more.

Team orders happen, but Schumacher obeyed them, when Ross is the Boss they obey them, Vettel does not, so there is the difference, even when they ask Vettel to save tires, engine sometimes at the last few He tries to take the fastest lap.

The Black Sheep of F1 is Vettel now, not Alonso or Hamilton, Vettel has the crown, lol.

You say pole position is a better indicator of who is fastest over a single lap than someone who changes their tires in the last five laps yet a pole position attempt is an even more fine-tuned version of the same idea - a car on a perfectly measured, light fuel load, with unscrubbed tires which a driver is unlikely to have near the end of a race and on a more freshly checked engine and car.

Pole positions Vettel has secured are an indication of him being the beneficiary of having the best car by miles for a couple of years much moreso than him being somehow a legendary driver. Prior to that he, unlike Schumacher and Alonso when they were in less than the best cars, he was relatively impotent.

F1 may historically reward the guy who is fortunate to be in the best car but there are few people who know much about F1 who would say Vettel is the longer-term form driver (all things being equal) than Alonso. Put in the exact same car as the rest of the grid Vettel would be lucky to even be top 3 most of the time.

Humility isn't bad, it's actually a quality.
Feigned humility is the same as no humility. That was my point.

I only saw the highlights and the highlight of the highlights ....

I'm not going to debate happenings in the race with someone who hasn't even watched it. In the least, watch the last 20 laps. Even the Redbull team principle Christian Horner had a really, really awkward time trying to be diplomatic about it in a post race interview (which keeps being removed from youtube). Some major **** will hit the fan in their team debrief.

I have nothing against Vettel.
But the way I see it, he only wins if he gets the pole.
How many real comebacks did he succeed in a race? Nothing comparable with Hamilton's or Raikonnen's fighting spirit IMO.

Also: the team strategies are a pain in the a**. Seriously, did you see what happened yesterday? Why didnt they allow Rosberg to pass Hamilton yesterday? He had better tires, was faster, but team instructions first!
Where is the sport in that kind of stuff?

It's a team sport. There was nothing to gain from Rosberg overtaking because the others were too far ahead by that point in the race.
Better to safely bring the cars home and conserve engine longevity than have two DNF's.

Yes, also I believe that Hamilton was already instructed to slow down when Rosberg was saying he is faster which is the reason he was putting up quicker numbers but I might be wrong. Regardless, Vettel is a knobhead. I know Senna did a lot of crazy things as well but you shouldn't screw over your team mate like that.

Hamilton had been told to dial down his engine to save fuel so he could finish the race - that's the reason Rosberg thought he was quicker than him.

In case it warrants an explanation - some cars start with not enough fuel to finish the race under green flag conditions because they take the gamble that a safety car will come out at some point or the wet conditions will last, in which case the fuel consumption is significantly lower for those laps (sometimes less than half that of full pace consumption). Malaysia this year was an anomaly compared to recent years where it's rained heaps and had safety cars - usually on multiple occasions.

The KL race was pathetic. They basically stopped racing with about 15 to go.

Vettel is an idiot. And I agree with Bobby Jr - a beneficiary of the ride RBR has given him. If he'd had Alonso's Ferrari last yr, he'd still be finishing up the last race in Brazil.

Didn't what an incident ala vettel-webber last year. besides that, team orders happen all the time, just remember alonso-hamilton during ham's 1st season or schu-barrichelo.

Everyone should be fighting for points and avoid stupid strategy or team orders.

Before that happens, futbol/soccer shouldn't be a team sport either. What's this, teammates passing the ball to eachother? Working together to further the team they play for? Stupid, they should all be fighting for the ball trying to score! Personal glory is far more important than team success!

F1 are races.
And you must compete to cross the line before anyone, even your own teamnate.
That's the spirit of the car races.
Slowing down to allow your teamnate take the points shouldnt be allowed.

Your comparison with soccer is:
A: stupid
B: a failed troll attempt

He may be referring to history. It is true that once upon a time (roundabout 1950s-70s) team orders were tolerated (not explicitly allowed but not banned either). And generally in F1, what is not banned is assumed legal by default.

The problem of course is that F1 has become complicated since those days. There are now team orders given over the radio for a thousand different purposes besides just winning crucial points for championships. And as a result they have become ubiquitous and races too often do not look appealing for neutral audiences when there is a planned procession. Which is why Max Mosley banned team orders a few dozen years ago (there was a clear backlash against them).

But then time passed away and the FIA goons sneaked TOs back in
.

I'm just saying that to are ruining the show for the audience.
Especilly at the beginning of the season when every pilot must fight for as much points as possible.
If your teamnate needs points later in the season and you have to smow down in order to help him than maybe it should be ok to include to as part of the team strategy to allow the leading pilot score maximum points.

but it's always been a team sport. remember ferrari fired schummy, when 1 win off the title. drivers change, but for the most part the teams don't.

I know it's not F1, but this picture is from yesterday when a exhibition WRC event visited Portugal, this is 10 miles away from home... And this is not only in one specific location, you can find this "human wall" during the 4 miles of the stage.

did you take it yourself?
also, last weekend there was a wtcc race in marrakech, unfortunately it was raining on the day I was there (qualifications)
But the smell... that's something special, rubber and fuel mixing in the air. Dis I like

Yes, Unfortunately F1 is more about winning both the Constructor's Championship as well as winning the Driver's Championship at the end of the year.

As for Vettel overtaking Webber what would you expect. Vettel is a very competitive driver and wants to win every race. If you have that competitive nature in you like in tennis you don't even think about losing you fight until the very end win or lose.

Poor Ferrari, these guys hate not being in the spotlight in F1 and now that Lotus? is doing well I'm sure these guys are furious. Let's hope for a competitive and entertaining rest of the season.

LOL at Mark Webber, what a loser!!

How can anybody complain about Mark Webber being overtaken by Vettel? How can He even complain about it, He knows when push comes to shove He is no title contender, let alone a contender to Vettel.

Another mistake by Webber hitting Verne and taking another RedBull car off the track.

Webber managed to run out of petrol in a qualifier and now a wheel has just falled off in the race.

He must be plenty quick to warrant that much sobotage!

Red Bull gives you wings, but no wheel nuts or petrol.

you probably didn't see that he crashed into Verne, so his rear suspension was damaged then after that, He made a pit-stop and realized they couldn't get on with it, and losing the wheel was just the outcome of yet another stupid mistake from Webber, let him cry and whine about it now.

RedBull isn't the best car anymore, the tracks will dictate what car runs well.

He made contact with Verne at the front of his car. How that possibly relates to his rear suspension or the fact the next wheel change was done incorrectly is beyond me. Webber was just the recipient of some bad luck with that wheel change.

It has happened several times when a car has a front collision and it affects and or breaks the suspension in the back or vice-versa.

Meanwhile the loser Webber got a penalty from crashing into Verne last week.

I saw the crash and pit stop but the reason why it wasn't noticed that the wheel would not stay fixed escaped my notice. I heard it was an error and it can only have been such.

The question is whether Red Bull is a team or not.

And there should be no team orders if Vettel does not want the team to function as a team.

I've never heard Vettel say that Webber can overtake him if and when he can.

It's been long a part of F! history for teams to sabotage no 2 drivers if its in the owner's interest.

It's pointless to compare Vettel to Webber, Vettel was born to be a Champion while Webber wasn't. In any case Red Bull should always favor Vettel, because He is the one who brought the wins and consequently the titles while just anybody could do what Webber (and all his mistakes) does not anyone can do what Vettel does.

By the way, Webber crashed into Rosberg and should receive another penalty again.

+1. Total nutbag move.

I want to beat the garage monkey who didn't check the tightness of Alonso's rear wing components. This loss of points, coupled with the earlier DNF could put him too far behind Vettel to catch up.

All in all, good race. Some great action.

Today's race was one of the most interesting races since long ago. It had everything: sick beginning, the alonso drama, the button incident and the rise of grosjean.
Shoul I mention another incredible comeback from my man Kimi?!!!
Also: Vettel's performance was amazing but it confirms once again that when he manages to get the pole or lead early he's almost intouchable

Yeah, this was a great race, man so many passes, so much action, really nice race.

Perez was driving like Mansell, risky maneuvers, bumping onto people.
Grosjean is really fast, I hope He picks up his driving ability back, is on par with top drivers in speed, last year He showed some of his potential.

Vettel has been the best F1 driver in the past 3 years and He is still maturing and improving, I wonder what's next for him.

Mercedes fiasco keeps ongoing, they got a lot better, but still can't win.

I have watched F1 for 25 years plus - almost every race of every season - and never recall that happening as you describe. The rear suspension is one of the strongest parts of the car - no indirect force from a front impact in which the car remained drivable could possibly damage it.

I didn't compare Vettel to Webber.

I said if Vettel wants to race outside of team orders, then he should state publcly that he and the team are happy for Webber to do likewise.

If he thinks he's that good and he deserved to win, then why does he not say this?

Perez and Button nearly came to grief, according to Button, so does the team want to avoid this situation or not?

Getting Webber out of the way so Vettel can win is sensible, but this is closer to the truth than Vettel's vainglorious posturing.
