at the end of the day, i think you got jumped on because you called the protest complete nonsense

when a dude is totally sucking in his position, it's not total nonsense to question his placement

clearly his coach later reconsidered that placement

that's all - you'll be glad to see i just stuck up for clemson in the other thread haha :) all good

That was my point originally, Wibowo had a worse record then the two below him and that's why the FSU coach protested the match. In fact it wasn't even close, that's considered stacking.....anyway, looks like he is finally fully healthy now and playing at 5 today so we'll see what he can do

ACC scoreboard shows Wibowo at 5 but twitter says Rigsby at 5 and Ansari at 6. I'm guessing twitter reports are accurate since the ACC site still shows Ryan Shane playing at 4 for UVA even though he isn't playing.

Looks like Rigsby has come from 5-3 down to now lead 6-5 in the 3rd and Harrington has come back from 3-1 down to lead 4-3. Clemson must be showing some fight.

Clemson takes it 4-2.

I wish they would have let the Harrington/Mudge match finish considering they were 4-4 in the 3rd.

Yeah me too but Miami women were waiting for the courts.

Really big win for Rigsby against the fiery Bond. Rigsby outfought him today, bond tried to make too many forehand winners late and was missing.

Vital for Wibowo to close out that 2nd set. He was up 6-1 4-2 and let Weigel back into it. Weigel served for the first at 6-5 but was broken at love. Wibowo went down 1-3 in the breaker and fought off a set point at 5-6 and took it 8-6. The 3rd set would have been an unpleasant adventure so very key for him to close it in 2.

Last time vs Virginia we were close in 6 of 9 spots. I expect Ansari to do better today as well. It will be interesting how the matchups are if Ryan Shane is out again.

Good match. The Tigers definitely put up a nice fight. Good luck in the tournament. Nice to know you're in no matter what, isn't it?

Yes it definetly feels better than last year after we lost to Wake in the tournament. Still excitement for where we will end up in the bracket.

Virginia looks like they have hit a new level in tournament time. Especially doubles, where Clemson was playing pretty well but Virginia upped the level toward the end of the pro sets.

I think that's 18 straight doubles points for Virginia. They have definitely improved their play there in the last few years.

I'm not a UVA fan, but after all the Indoor titles and being so close in the NCAAs, I'm really hoping they finally pull it off this year. Anything less would be a disappointment.

Yannick Maden and Jenkins really battled in the First set. Very long set for 6-3. Maden played well but Jenkins was too good. Many rallies ended with enthusiastic applause from the crowd. Maden had his teeth in the match in the 2nd and Jenkins was looking down at other courts seeing when they would end as he was getting a little uncomfortable.

I forgot to mention. There was a sick point in doubles. The madens went at Jenkins numerous times at the net, around 7. They hit overheads at him and somehow Jenkins returned all 7, the last one knocked him to the ground and Dom Maden finally put it away. It prompted standing ovation from fans of both teams.

Looks like Clemson is losing a few guys this offseason. What are your thoughts on their incoming class?

Yes the team will be drastically different next year.

losing:
Yannick Maden (3 years of eligibility used)
Gerardo Meza (3 years of eligibility used)
Ayrton Wibowo (2 years used)
Zac Rigsby (4 years of eligibility used)
Martin Blaho (transfer)

returning:
Hunter Harrington
Dom Maden
Austin Ansari

incoming confirmed:
Zachary Kennedy (5 star)
Brent Lett (5 star)
Christian Harris (4 star)
Daniel Strawn (4 star)
Luke Johnson (Transfer from Florida)

no longer coming:
Karen Khachatryan (test scores not good enough)

rumored incoming:
another transfer from SEC school
another international

Next year's line-up:

1. Hunter Harrington - Improved a lot from last year. If he makes similar improvement to next year he can be a viable #1 player. He has big shots and a big serve than can trouble the top guys. Could be a decent #1.

2. This is where it would be really helpful if we could land an international could enough to be step in and be #2 immediately.

3. Dom Maden

4. Austin Ansari - Has great racket head speed on his groundstrokes and athleticism which gives him potential to be a 3-4 player next season. Will need to work on his serve.

5. Other transfer, could be as high as 3

6. Luke Johnson

That is the best case scenario line-up. But if we do not get an international good enough to fill #2 then everyone moves up and Zachary Kennedy would probably be #6 as he is the best of the incoming Americans.
Harris and Strawn will be bench players in the 1st year. Lett could challenge for 6 at different points in the season.

Any idea where Blaho is transferring?

I thought Meza had one more year.

Any idea where Connor Clements is going to end up this year?

Apparently Meza only had 3 years of eligibility. I didn't know that until recently either. I've heard Blaho is looking at small conference D1 west coast schools. I have no idea where Clements will be but I know not at Clemson or South Carolina.

Hunter Harrington finally gets into the rankings at 105. First time he is in the rankings. Sets him up nicely for next year where he should be around 75 for the preseason rankings.

Rigsby is at 5 and Ansari at 6. Confirmed.

Need Dom Maden to comeback here.

Its not looking great for you guys next year. You guys are losing your top 4 and Chuck needs to get some big guns for your top 2 spots. The way it looks right now is next year you guys will have some good 3-4-5-6 players but will be hurting at the top. What are your thoughts?

I watched the end of their match today, it was pretty exciting. I'll be at the match tomorrow cheering for UT of course, but good luck to you guys!

We have a chance vs Tennessee. Last year we lost to them 4-3 by a razors edge, both teams are effectively the same from that meeting last year.

The Maden bros will have a steep challenge vs the #1 doubles team in the nation. Tennessee also has strong doubles at 2 and 3.

Singles:

1: 26 Yannick Maden vs 1 Mikelis Libietis
Maden beat Libietis last year 7-6 6-4. Libietis has improved since then of course but it still says something about the matchup. Maden had always been good against players who like to come to net. Maden got rocked yesterday so he will have to bring his A game today, but it's not out of the question he can win this match.

2: 105 Hunter Harrington vs 34 Hunter Reese
It will get confusing with the "lets go Hunter" declarations. Harrington had been on fire recently but this isn't the best matchup for him. Reese makes balls, he's a similiar player to Fred Saba. Harrington will have to utilize some net game if he has a shot to win.

3: Gerardo Meza vs Brandon Fickey
Meza beat Fickey last year and Fickey will be playing only his 2nd match since injury return. Meza did not have a good record this year but he won yesterday and will be more ready. I expect a Clemson win on this court.

4: Dom Maden Jarryd Chaplin
Last year Wibowo killed Chaplin but I doubt he would play here rather than Chaplin. Chaplin serves and volleys on nearly every point and Dom is a grinder who also has some offense. This will be interesting. A toss up in my book.

5: Zac Rigsby vs John Collins
Toss up. Rigsby will have to deal with the lefty.

6: Austin Ansari vs Edward Jones
Ansari has hit a rough patch in the later part of the year. It is imperative for him to have a good match today vs a player he should beat.

Well I'm in Knoxville right now. Looking like chances of rain.
