NBA 2012-2013 Discussion, keep it classy

I am very happy with #2. I want #1 next year and I want Wiggins.

I could see us taking Tom's guy - Ben Mac, at #2, or Otto Porter, but I suspect he may go #1.

Some fans see us reaching for Burke, but I am not sure he is talented enough to justify that.

Maybe the #2 can be a bargaining chip...I hear raves about Dario Saric, the 19-year-old point forward from Croatia. We're not gonna reach for him at #2 but a trade down with a team that needs Ben Mac/Porter/Burke could net us a good vet or second first-round pick.

It looked like a travelling to me.
How can you move from behind the free trow line to the rim with only 1 dribble?
Seriously, I like Lbj but that was the crab travel at his best.

takes dribble, collects the ball, 2 steps, layup. looked legit to me. how bout that foul call on the 3 tho? come on

Where was Hibbert???

Did you see his face when LeBron made the winning basket. He was thinking, where was Hibbert? Whoops.

Really good job by LeBron to close out the game in the dying second!

Not sure, I've seen it a whole bunch of times. I lean toward it being legit but point is he finished the game off and it isn't a clear cut call. Travelling is something that needs to be called more often in the NBA though as just about everybody is guilty of doing it and usually don't get called.

I've watched it a few more times since making this post and I do well think it could have been a travel before the bounce of the first dribble but hard for me to say, I'm not a super sharp basketball expert with the rules.

fun game last night. way more competitive than i expected game 1 to be in miami. pretty crazy rollercoaster ride.

i think vogel gets skewered either way. if he leaves hibbert in and bosh gets an easy jumper or rolls to the rim for a dunk -- he gets slammed.

i feel bad for george though. 2.2 seconds from the most amazing playoff performance this year. and in the final seconds he's largely responsible for letting lebron go to the rim uncontested. heck he should've fouled and made lebron hit 2. but a layup?

No he should not have fouled. He should have played the opposite angle and known there was no help defense coming. It sucks, but what a great game, and a great performance by him until that last play.

Takes dribble and collects on 3 meters?
Come on man

its about how many steps he takes after collecting the ball. not the distance covered while taking a dribble.

so pretty much you wanted the foul on the 3 AND the travel?? youd be lucky to get either at any point vs any team. and you wanted both in the last 2 secs of OT in the playoffs?? cant blame the refs for everything man

Was that not the nastiest dunk you've seen in a good while. That was an posterizer if theres ever been one.

I actually thought he missed the dunk live, because it was so clean.

Then they showed it in slow-mo and I was like: "Holy crap, he didn't just got to the rim, he threw it down!"

LeTravel turnovers people...
Also, I wonder if the refs are gonna commit a lakers-kings 02 at the end of these series...

LeBron said in the presser after that he knew he could get to the rim 'with one dribble'.

LeBron is keeping it classy just as the OP asks.

Cant imagine the refs being that bad again, even though the Heat are getting more than their share of calls now. Even Barkley said at halftime that the NBA obviously wants the Heat in the Finals but dam, let the guys play.

Quoted for truth. By far the biggest problem with the NBA. Very much a "packaged product." Part of what has me on the Pacers' bandwagon.

Im a huge Knick fan. But since Lebron got swept by the Spurs in 2007 when he was on the Cavs, I would love to see a rematch of a definitely in his prime Lebron (rather than baby/prime lebron in 2007) against the spurs.

This is coming from a NBA fan who hates Lebron but would love to see the rematch.

The '07-'08 Finals was notorious for its embarrassing ratings. Something tells me that won't be the case this time if the King was to have a rematch with the Spurs.

I wonder if those nightmares of getting swept will haunt him again.

Probably not. Winning a title changes things. Much less pressure. And it's not like it was LeBron's fault. The guy averaged over 20 points a game that series. When you're second leading scorer is Daniel Gibson and your leading rebounder Anderson Varejao, it's a handicap any way you slice it. We laughed at "not five, not six, not seven..." but the Heat are DANGEROUS and can wreak havoc in the NBA for many seasons to come!

Nba scheduling really messed up here. Spurs will have a huge advantage in the finals. They might have like a week and a halfs rest. That's unheard of. Great series between heat and pacers thought!

NBA is such a joke. They might as well hire Vince McMahon as the new commissioner:

How is the scheduling messed up? The Spurs swept, the other team didnt. So they get to rest.

But the NBA does drag the playoffs along to try to get as many games on weekends as possible.

Just the fact that the spurs played two games before the heat played one. Between the spurs game 2 and 3 they had like 5 days off. Miami is playing a game every two days. Don't know how high a level you played sports but having 5 days off basically recharges your body and they will all feel good as new. Playing a game every two days is very tough, give miami 5 days off during the middle of this series and see what happens. Plus the fact with the sweep it gives them an extra week. Miami might have 2 days. Just seems like a huge advantage for the spurs. Having a average of two weeks off during the last 3 weeks of the playoffs, is crazy.

I know the Pacers would play like this. No surprise at all. I still see the Heat pulling it off, but it will not be easy. The Spurs must be licking their chops because their frontcourt is playing at a higher level than Indiana's and they can rest up Tony Parker's leg as well.

Sometimes a long layover backfires...it may help the older and nicked-up part of their roster later in the series but a bit of rust may show up in game 1.

If a team wins after a layoff they always say they rest was great, but every single time a team loses after a layoff they always say they felt rusty. Its one thing thats 100% sure to happen when a team has a layoff.

Rust Never Sleeps or takes a weeks' layoff

Basketball is a great game, but the NBA (NOT basketball association) is a complete joke.

The NBA should merge with the WWE and just admit everything is fake and stop pretending there's any actual competition taking place.

No more fake than fixing draws in tennis. Not that David Stern really cares what you think. The people who complain about something the most are the same people that can't stop watching and trying to convince everyone else that it is a bad product. If you don't want to watch NBA, there are PLENTY of other sports to choose from. But you'll be hard-pressed to convince the people on this thread - people who actually PLAY basketball and appreciate the supreme athleticism demonstrated by NBA players - that it isn't worth watching.

I'm really glad the guys on TNT are taking apart the flopping thing, even though it was brief, because they got to the point.

Who cares about some miniscule fine (relative to their salaries) if they can change the outcome of a close game? Call it on the floor instead.

Let's say on Game 7, in the closing seconds, a player flopped to get a call and won the game, thus championship. Then the league charge the player $5-10k, but he's won already. What is the point?
