Verdasco and Babolat

How can you tell it's the plus?

I'm just going by how it looks in his hand to be honest. I think I remember his major bulitt was extended length, don't quote me on that though. He seems to choke up around half an inch on his groundstrokes and that would indicate a longer racquet. The more I look at the photo though I'm not so sure. He's also down on this very website as using the standard version so I really have no clue what I'm talking about now.

According to Darren Cahill, who should know, it was about the $$$$.

Definitely working for him at W this yr.

That's a massive call to have the money almost dictate what he uses.

His performance against Gulbis today was rock solid, and the racquet is certainly helping his service. His forehand also, a serious weapon it has always been, looks to be more comfortable for him.

I heard Lindsay Davenport talking about pros and racquets. She said she had many offers to change racquet companies, but always reduced the situation to $'s. She said she made far more from tournaments than her racquet endorsement.

He was hitting very cleanly against Gulbis with this stick today, he looks in good shape, I hope he goes deep. Aussie 2009 Semi with Nadal one of the best modern classic matches.

So he's got himself into the quarters, I fully expected he would the way he's been playing. The way things are going he's playing Murray there on either of the show courts and he could really cause an upset. A great match-up.

You can see the new confidence by the way he's playing. His FH's are heavy, even on the grass. He's serving big too. Nice to see him playing well, very enjoyable to watch.

Anyone have access to his racquets? specs?

I hit w him from 05-08 in us open as hitting partner. He was using texhnifibre then. Not Surprised he is switching... He always hated his Dunlop.. I play w the same which gave me arm trouble so I'm also switching, but def not to babolat ...

Very surprised that verdasco plays well with his babolat.
I've seen the match with dogopolov a few weeks ago and I thought he should not use babolat because he played really badly. Seems like he is comfortable with babolat now.

Verdasco played well with the Pro Stock Tec..thats the main stick he used the most.

He also played well with the Yonex 200 he briefly used.

Now he looks good with Babolat.

So he just seems to succeed with open pattern frames that give him good spin.

He is killing Murray on Wimbledon Centre Court with the new APD, he always had huge spin and power and now he is taking it to the next level.

Another tricky endorsement situation for him.
Babolat might be able to sign him much less money if he does not play well at Wimbledon. Since he plays well, He might want to more $$$.
Babolat might think it's not worth to spend more $$$ .... Mmm

Probably Back to blacked out tec haha.

Seems like he messed up with racket companies when he finished contract???

I don't think tec, Yonex, prince and dunlop will give the contract.
Wilson and babolat might be the only companies who can offer but much less $$$ than he wants.

The way the commentators talked about how several pros gave up on their Dunlops and switched or went back to their previous brand is bad news for Dunlop's marketing. They talked about Verdasco and Berdych, but you could also include Haas, Davydenko, Safin, Philippoussis, etc. Not sure why because I think Dunlops are one of the best brands of racquets out there. I think they make more good racquets than most other brands.

First of all, Dunlop rackets are not bad. They definitely need to do better jobs for recruiting/offering people.

Dunlop might overpay many pros and when they changed to dunlop, pros did not adjust to dunlop rackets. It does not mean that dunlop rackets are bad. Not just for them. If dunlop did not overpay verdasco, why verdasco changed yonex racket which he won a tournament with it?

Dunlop should recruit more younger generations and take a good care with those people and offer more incentive if they are doing well.

1. Verdasco played well with his Major/Tec frame
2. Verdasco played well the week he won San Jose with Yonex.
3. Verdasco played poorly with his Dunlop PJ, which was supposedely the best copy Dunlop could make of his Major/Tec frame.
4. Verdasco immediately is playing well with his Aeropro, a much more powerful frame than any of the above, which shows he is not racquet senstive, in other words can play well with a variety of frames. It is hard to escape the conclusion that Dunlop gave him an inferior product.

No. Verdasco did not play well with aeropro immediatelty. He played horrible match with dogopolov at aegon but dolgopolov played worst game against him. That's why verdasco won the match.
Verdasco sprayed balls all over the places during the match. I thought babolat rackets were worst choice for him but probably he might try new set up.

Babolat should be his choice of racket now and He should take their offer!!!!

He looked like he had trouble controlling it at times today imo. His number of errors was off the charts. I was a little surprised that he took Murray to five (I guess he just played well enough at the right moment).

But anyways, switching rackets can sometimes be a bad thing. I don't think Baghdatis has done too well with his new Graphene Speed Pro, losing in the first round of a lot of tournaments, including Wimbledon. He tried 4G too but dropped it soon after.

How long was he with Dunlop?

(I believe that Biomimetic tech was a backward step. I am ready to give up on my Maxx 200G, and go back to the AG3004D.)

Aerogel 200 all the way. The 4D spoiled everything and took away the feel and the flexibility!

Babolat much better than dunlop ?

Does this now Prove Once and for all, that Babolat is Much better than Dunlop. Oh and don't tell me it is all individual.

No, it doesn't. That's like saying the Wilson Tour 90 is much better than any other racquet just because more Grand Slams have been won with it than any other racquet in the past 10 years. The APD may be better for Verdasco than his Dunlop, but the opposite may be true for someone else.

One sided lead tape?

Looks like he's using the plus version. Lead tape at 3 and 9 visible.

Funny because in this picture of the other side of the racket there seems to be no lead.

The lack of logic here is appalling

Because one guy at one tournament gets to the quarters with his new racquet?

The only thing it proves is that in that particular tournament he was playing better than his particular opponents, which could have happened for a multitude of reasons.

Of course with this logic one could interpret that because Verdasco lost to Murray who plays with a Head, then Head is "Once and for all, Much better" than Babolat.

Courier said (paraphrase) on TV that Verdasco has a new babalot and he's looking better than ever because of it - crazy how such veterans of the sport can be so ignorant...

of course he could be playing better because of the racket. it just doesn't mean that Babolat is better than Dunlop brandwise

You don't need Courier nor anyone else to tell you that Verdasco played better at this Wimbledon than in the past couple of years at Slams. I mean he got to the quarters at Wimbledon this year which he has never done before. But who really knows that the ONLY reason was the racquet change? Besides, it doesn't mean that the Babolat is a better racquet universally. I mean, if Federer had been using a Babolat for the past 10 years, maybe he never wins a single Slam. You don't know.

I think that Verdasco's shots are more powerfull now with Babolat. I do not have any Babolat racquet, but with so many tennis players using that, I am really thinking about buying some one. So many people talks that it is a forgiving racquet.
