What if I told you I already found a way ? Can you have Eric Babolat contact me ? I have come up with a way to create a synthetic string that act just like natural gut and yet play even better than gut.

Will the wonders of carbon nanotubes never cease? Engineers have now used everyone's favorite cylindrical übermolecules to create artificial muscles that can contract and twist, in a manner not unlike like the muscles found in elephant trunks and squid tentacles. The upshot? Researchers say these tiny little motors…

You should patent pending and start making some money.

Hey Babolat official, i see in your sig that you string your APD 50lbs. Does your control suffer a bit? I'm looking to switc my APD cortex (60lbs) to the 2013 APD's.

I get more spin, which I feel gives me more control. Once I started stringing full poly low tension, I can't go back. If you generate plenty of racquet head speed, you'll get the spin to keep it in.

Jack Sock currently stringing alu big banger rough at 36 lbs in Aerostorm.

I have a player that has a Pure Storm Tour with the ALU rough at 54. If he goes down to say 48-50 will he be able to "spin" it more? When Sock went down to 36 , where did he start from?

I'm not sure where he started from but he has always strung pretty loose.

You will only get more spin if you have the ability to move the strings with racquet head speed. think of the poll vaulter. If you don't have the technique and skill to bend the poll, you can get over bar.

I would drop to 50 and give it a couple hours of hitting.

Also, curious about why he uses rough string? It is a common fallacy that rough or edged strings give more spin/bite. Spin with poly comes from the strings sliding against themselves and then "snapping back" into place. Thus, you want the smoothest surfaces possible. Think of running your finger over sandpaper vs a glass table. The glass will let your finger slide. The sandpaper (rough), not so much. It’s not the string surface as much as the movement of the string that matters most. RPM is octagonal and coated in silicone for this reason to give two flat surfaces to move against each other. Stringing a littler looser won’t necessary result in huge power gains, as poly is not a elastic material. But letting the string slide more will give you the ability to product more spin. Looser strings will have less control, so finding the right balance for each player is key.

I hope that makes sense.

While you are 100% correct about the way spin works you are not correct that you want two flat surfaces of the same material to rub agains each other. This of course varies from material to material but coef. Of friction is higher since surface area that fiction is being applied is larger.

First rough example (pun intended ;) )there are 7 spots where bottom "string" is touching upper string

While second example touching points are all along the length of contact

Rough example I know but I hope that makes sense...

Both come in 26 (Aeropro Drive Junior 26 and Pure Drive Roddick Junior 26). they are straight take downs of the adult racquet (same technology, etc.). this makes the transition to an adult frame easier. however, it also means they are more expensive.

if price is an issue, we make cheaper aluminum racquets (as do most brands) in a variety of sizes. double check when purchasing as we sell a variety of 26 in frames that look like the APD and PD 26s but are cheaper because of materials.

a have an 8 yr old player almost 5ft tall and 4 in grip size. she's using a wilson 25" thats heavy on the head though she hits and swings hard.

which racquet would you recomend, the 25 or 26?

Two flat silicone surfaces vs two edges?

remember to think in the context of tennis string not simply physics

have her hold the racquet in her hand and let her arm hang all the way down relaxed to her side. the racquet tip should be 1-3 inches from the group. at 5 feet, she may be approaching adult racquets. do you work with a local pro? evaluation in person may prove more effective.

I really want to thank Babolat for havin' produced one of the best racquets in the history of tennis :D (IMHO), the Pure Drive Roddick. It's simply AMAZING, i can't stop playing with this stick

Harrison, Giraldo (plus), Falla, Chela, Becker, Serra (plus), Alund (plus), Polansky, M Gonzalez (plus), Silva... and a decent amount of the top college players: Jenkins and I believe Blaz Rola (he may be normal Storm with tape).

Women: Michaella Krajicek (used to be top 30, just returning from heart issues this year)

Doesn't Jerzy J use Pure Storm too (but with an aeropro paintjob)?

Impossible. The mould is different. The Aero mould is recognizable from miles away, while the PS is box-beamed. Please, Babolat ain't no Head when it comes to paintjobs...

Jerzy uses the Aerostorm GT PJ'ed with the new Aero 2013 cosmetics. I believe it was talked about a few pages earlier in this thread.

Yeah, I feel the same way. The Pure Storm is sublime as well.

sorry, I think you are confused. Jerzy uses the Aerostorm...painted and labeled as an Aerostorm. But yes, it was discontinued for 2013.

Hmmmmmmm. This is the image that confused me. I see now that his racket was painted/labeled that way at Wimbledon, but was it always?

Hi,

I am not sure if it has been asked before in the thread, but do you have any information as to when the pure storm tour might go on sale? Thanks

I understand, thank you, I was simply showing you the image I saw with that paint-job to avoid any misconceptions and make sure that Jerzy did indeed use that PJ at one point.

no worries, we're constantly working with players to ensure they have products to help them play their best tennis. in the last couple year, Jerzy has also played with the Pure Storm (tour and limited)

is it just me that cant see page 64?

At the time you posted, there was no page 64. It means that at some point a handful of posts in the thread have been removed - the forum doesn't re-index, so thinks there are more posts than there really are.

Dear Babolat:

Why couldn't you guys give Dr. Ivo a contract ? He's been using your racket with black paint all that time. Now he has made a comeback with HEAD racket with Head contract, it looks like. You guys lost a very popular player.
