Shoes for wide and flat fleet?

I'm a daily tennis player, I wear Prince shoes, but they seem to be wearing out on my first matches cause of my feet ripping on the sides.

Are there any shoes recommended to wear for people with a wide and flat foot?

Of course NB shoes have the widths. Also, the KSwiss Defier RS fits quite wide. Not really that durable IMO (barely get 3 months) but perhaps your experience would differ.

Couple of suggestions

I have wide and flat feet too with pronation.

Prince T22's are the best shoes prince has to offer (also 6 month wear warranty)

Babolat SFX (also 6 month wear warranty)

If you can find some of these older nikes they are really good fit.

I have very flat and wide feet and I find the asics shoes most comfortable followed by the 4.3s. Stay away from air max cage, vapor or anything adidas

The Air Cages are not really wide. I have wide and flat feet, and I still had the small pains of breaking them in.
I have such a wide and flat feet that I am forced to wear specific insoles. I don't even have a proper arch, wearing shoes without my insoles hurts. You should see the faced of my podiatrist, crapping his pants when he sees my feet on his mirror. It's priceless. I still went one half size DOWN with both the retail and my orthopaedic insole INSIDE the shoe. They are much wider than your everyday shoe.

I have gorilla feet. Have tried a lot of different shoes and usually content myself with a few weeks of pain and blisters until I can stretch the sides out.

The only company I've never had to do this with has been New Balance. I keep trying different brands, but I really should just stick with NB - they've never once let me down.

I have the same issue, no arch. Luckily, my dad is a podiatrist. Its like God messed me up, then felt bad about it.

Lucky! What solution have your father come up with? I struggle with a lot of shoes because of this. What shoes do you use for tennis?

I use a firm custom half length orthotic insert under a flexible premade full length orthotic insert (I believe the brand is power step). I put this under a cb 4.3 or an asics speed. CB 4.3 w/ inserts is the way to go IMO

I've been wearing T-22's exclusively since they came out. They work better than everything else I've tried for my wide forefoot and narrow heel.

I am curious about the Babolat SFX -- could you please do a comparison of both shoes? Thanks in advance.

My feet have grown wide as I have gotten older. I also have a little arthritis on one of my big toes. I found the Asics Gel Resolution 3 good fit shoes. It was strange, the first match I wore them I got shin splints. They felt a little tight width wise. The second time I played with them they were great and I went through a couple GR3s until they were discontinued. The GR4s are narrower. The GR5 are similar to GR3 but maybe slightly narrower. I find the Yonex Power Cushion are similar to the GR5s. I bought the Babolat SFX and they are definitely wider than all of the above. I find them extremely comfortable and at pretty good price point (I got them for $79).

Not being a dick but I personally would advise against using t22 for flat feet because of the flexibility/lack of support/and low ride. They are wide, but they had me in some terrible pain. Just my opinion.

I tried both of them on at my local pro shop at the suggestion of the owner.
They both felt good enough and wide enoungh that I made a note to keep them in mind the next time I need to buy some shoes. Also they were notable because their treads felt heavy duty and came with 6 month wear warranty.

Thank you. Although the T22's have worked like a charm for me, it looks like the SFX might be a bit more durable. I think I will give them a shot as an alternate colorway to my black T22's -- the blue/black look pretty sharp.

Also thanks to other posters for their input, and sorry to the OP for the semi-hijack.

As I've posted in other threads:

I'm on my 5th or 6th pairs of T22s and used to think they were all that (before that Barricades and some Nikes and before that many pairs of older Prince NFS) until I started having issues with them, after each session, the next day everything aches. Then I tried on a pair of MC4 and never had a single ache, by far the most cushioned shoes I've ever tried. Unfor they finally wore out and last night, reluctantly took out my last new pair of T22s and immediately felt like walking on bricks and the aches returned.

I've tried these shoes at my local shop:
Babolat Propulse 4
Babolat V Pro
Babolat SFX
Asics Gel Res 5
Nike CourtBallistic 4.3
Nike Vapor 9

By a huge margin, the SFX is the most cushioned of the above, more heel cushion then the rest but a country mile more forefoot cushion, it's not even close. If you want lightweight, low to the ground... ie speed shoes, then the SFX are not any of that. But if you want the most cushioning compared to those listed above, they're in a completely different class of cushioning.

I bought the SFX in the same size as my T22s and they are def way more roomier everywhere but esp the toebox. I got along w/ them fine but I can see how others rec to get them 1/2 a size smaller.

Yonex 254D, I have very wide forefoot, while I don't have flat feet, I have very thick feet so high/stiff arch hurt me, but with 254D, everything is good. Arch support is there, but very soft and comfortable.

Downside, it's likely being discontinued(I have confirmed this with many different retailers, TW just got their last shipment, and likely won't get anymore).

Thanks, man. No, low ride speed shoes are not a priority. I ordered the SFX last night from TW, in my regular size, so it will be interesting to see how they fit. I can always exchange for a half size smaller if I need to. I'll know tomorrow.

As a wide and flatfooted biped, I had been wearing the K-Swiss Big Shots for some time and then they came out with the newer version--the newer version is narrower and aggrevated the outside of my left foot. About 2 weeks ago I picked up a pair of the NB 996s in a EE---love that shoe--it is both light and stable, so you might want to give them a try. I have played about 10 times in those two weeks and I will tell you that they will certainly wear out for me well within the 6-month wear guarantee period but (1) there is a guaranty and (2) honestly, I care far more about support and comfort than how a shoe wears. Good luck.

I typically wear size 13 in the last 2 Asic GR3s I bought. I ordered the SFX in 12.5 and 13 due to reading review to go 1/2 size down. I found the 12.5 just a little tight mainly in length, I possible could have broken them in some over a few matches to get them more comfortable. I went with the 13 and they have been comfortable from the start. I'm 225 lbs. and I don't think a couple extra ounces of shoe is a priority. For that matter I have been playing some of my best tennis and my shoes are 6-0 since I started wearing them..

I've been traveling on business the past week and finally got to un-box and try on my new SFX's last night. I ordered in my regular size. They do run a little larger than my T22's. Plenty of room in the fore and mid foot -- which is what I am looking for. They also run larger in length but, like you, I feel if I go down a half size, they will be too tight. They also are looser at the heels than my T22's but since I wear two pairs of socks these days (and the occasional ASO ankle brace) these should be fine out on the court. I'll know this weekend. They certainly seem like a well built shoe and I am digging the blue colorway.
