Apparently Andy hit one in Cincy in his semi v Fish. I didn't get to see it though and can't seem to find it on youtube. Anyone got a clip?

Wow... that's almost 200 km/h on a groundstroke... I can't understand why Murray doesn't do that more often...

Thanks for noticing this OP.

Andy should stop doing these weird stuff and concentrate on pushing a bit more...

Murray has hit some of the fastest winners i've ever seen, he does it fairly regularly too.

The problem is that he's in two minds, he knows he has to be more pro-active to win a major, but his defence is up there with Nadal and Djokovic. Now he goes for a bit more than he used to, he makes more errors and that doesn't create as much mental pressure on his opponents.

I agree with that. murrya has tremendous power and can hit the ball ridiculously hard on all strokes (esp. BH and serve). I think it's mental with him. he somehow isn't able to play the highest intensitiy over a whole match. he has all the tools but is too phlegmatic on the court.

The ball is a high sitter though. Even Simon could crush those balls. The problem with Murray is the lack of that aggressive instinct in general, not the lack of the ablity to crush a few balls, every pro could do that.

I agree, all pro's are able to put balls away like he did with that forehand. I've never seen anyone hit THAT hard though. The closest i've seen was Monfils at the Australian Open a few years back. But hey, it doesn't matter how hard you hit it, a winner is a winner either way.

LOL, no it isn't. Very few players can hit as big as Murray off the BH side when he's going for it.

Yeah, I haven't seen him hit 120s either.

But Rafa does belt his groundstrokes, especially on the FH side, more often than does Murray (haven't see enough of Murray at this year's Wimbledon...or of Rafa either LOL) and that's what really matters.

I'm pretty sure Rafa has always hit harder than Murray has on average as well.

124mph FH... I'll believe that when I see it lol.

106mph is the fastest fh I've seen I think.

Gasquets 103mph 1hbh is the fastest bh I've seen.

Nadal's hit 107, Monfils hit 108? Forgot but it was higher mph than Nadal's.

JMDPotro hit a 120mph FH against NDjokovic in this year's Wimbledon SF.

he doesn't because he can't do it often. he probably got lucky and timed it as perfectly as possibly can be. and he was also aided by other guy's pace as well.

As a amateur, you will not be able to reproduce that shot because your opponent's shots won't feed you the energy that is required.

Yeah, that's hard. But don't think it's more than 115mph.

actually it is said to be 125

I remember a thread that analysed this Murray shot, and a few others using frame rate technology. Last time I saw it was end of the Summer last year.

It basically said that none of these shots were as fast as they are proposed to be. I think the Nadal forehand ended up being around 96 mph. Anyone know the thread title?
