CB, NiteFly, Paulman - Try for lunch Thursday? Suggestions?

If you come my way breadline or G Street Foods are extra tasty!

I can do 11:45am to 1 on thurs.
Please make it close to metro as I smell bacon frying everytime i walk outside during heat waves. Was thinking Metro Center again?

Breadline is about 2 blocks from the metro and Breadline is 3 blocks.

I'm open to suggestions though... doesn't have to be in my hood.

In addition to your partner being wrong on the rules of the 10-pt TB, she was also wrong in allowing two serves even if she was right. It clearly states in the rules that, and I quote "all points played in good faith stand".

So, even if he had served out of turn, the point would have counted and the order fixed on the next point. Now, if he had served both points, and then you realized the mistake, the serving order would have stayed as they started (e.g., mixed up).

Sigh.

my partner at the start of the second set: "obviously we can't play any meaningful strategy against this team. So put on your cape and save the day".

Another "hero" comment. Almost worked.

What was different in the second set - Ever shot I could line up and explode against went toward the female partner. Ever big flat/slice serve went against the man, ever kick serve went against the lady. When I was up at net, I parked myself in the middle. It really worked. Only the lob was effective. The second set took 1/2 the time to finish than the first set.

Learning.

I just never felt right with it. I gave it 3 months, and while my backhand & serve seem to have improved, I'm still overhitting my forehand.

If my game as built around hitting winners, then I might be able to get by, but at 5' 9", that's kinda tough to pull off consistently. I've come to accept my fate as a Ferrer clone, and I need a frame that allows me to 'swing away' with the knowledge that it will likely go in provided I keep it within the sidelines. It doesn't need to be a screaming winner.

My 3.0 18+ team ended up getting wild card to districts after the first team to get it couldn't field a team. We ended up winning the tournament. I only played the last day and got spanked in singles after returning from a 10 day no tennis vacation, but at least I lost to their best guy! On to sectionals!

I was down there playing 3.0 men's too. What team did you play for?

damnit mclovin i was just thinking about switching back to yonex.......you got tons of lead on there though

I still believe Yonex makes great frames, and if I didn't already know the X Force Pro was for me, I'd likely be sticking with it. It's not as if I wasn't familiar w/ Yonex (used R-22, R-50, RQ-420, and RD Power 10 Long in the past), but the X Force Pro is just a better fit for me.

To be a true Ferrer clone, you need an Exo Tour like me (yes I know that is not what he really uses). :)

i heard the xforce pro is a very comfy frame. Can never find a retailer in our area that sells Pacific. For some reason, I thought previous model's of Yonex's has alot more feel than today's? More specificilly the RDS line. I remembered playing with a RDS003 and had got alot of good touch. Just that the bridge felt like it flexed alot. Maybe that's why I got that feel that the ball hung to the racquet a split second longer which I love.

Well to my disappointment, my Pro Kennex big frame/ more power honeymoon is over. I got 2x bageled during a recent match. I was OUT HITTING my usual hitting partner. Unfortunately, I was HITTING OUT all the time as well.
Thank goodness I didn't sell my NYC's yet.

If I cold get a Prince w/ a slightly more rectangular grip shape I would have given those frames a shot. But I just cannot stand the Prince (or Head) grips, and I'm finished trying to customize things.

If I don't like it stock, time to move on...

Hi Swerve! I was on Arundel 2, we were in Columbia MD. What team were you on? Sectionals is August 9th in Newport News.

Hi there. I was playing for Shenandoah Ida Lee. Haha maybe I am crazy or were talking about different things because I don't remember an Arundel Men's 3.0 team being there this past weekend?

Shenandoah is VA. Anne Arundel is MD. Your districts are not the same.

But looks like Nitefly is headed to Sectionals, so if your team made it as well, then you'll play each other!

For those in TWMAC who thought CB has violated his terms of agreement of the three racquet rule:

I have executed the "Nuclear Option," and sold three racquets to TW. Now I am back to two racquets again. =) Now I can start shopping again for sticks.

1 NYC and 1 Q15.

haha... if I only had the patience and skill to weld a racquet less than 100 sq inch. =)

I think Wilson will end up selling a lot of the 98 sq inch Fed Model.... I might even need to take a look...

+1. considering alot of the folks who buy fed's stick bcz it's fed's stick. having one that's alot more user friendly is definitely going to sell more. Is this the infamous black stick he's playing with during his latest clay event?

Just curious what grip size you bought?

4 3/8". The word on the street was the Yonex grip size was running large, and my demo frames of 4 1/2" supported that claim. I went w/ a 4 3/8", but used a thicker overgrip (Gamma Supreme).

I prefer 4 1/2", BTW.

Bah! Patience schmatience. Lack of patience & skill hasn't stopped most people on this board from using Fed's 90 sq in frames...

haha. what's the advice from Coach McLovin?
Should Fed change to a new stick? or stick with his 90 and get better with it?
At times, I wonder why Wilson hasn't just use a Swiss Flag as the PJ for them Pro Staff 90's?

Yup - TM said he saw Fed play a match with it and saw some improvements on his serve. Still finding the range on groundies. He won though!

thinking about demo'ing the Wilson 105s. anyone tried before?

Beware! I've heard this stick will consume strings like TM and Sappy at a Buffet! I've heard it turns people who never break a string into people who need to restring almost weekly.....

Having said that - I hit with it. Decent stick. I didn't feel it was magic, but my buddy managed to get a few extra shots to drop in that I swear were going long.

LOL! I hit with it. Couldn't get my forehand to drop in.

My buddy who bought the stick managed to strain his bicep the first time we went to hit.

90 incher is not for me!

I seldom break strings and always wanted to break more often. Just wanted an excuse to try new strings. Maybe if I get this racquet, I can put my stringer in better use. seems like has all things I am looking for, thicker frame, extended length, and pops strings more often. <Insert Mr. Paulman's Quote Here...>

I can attest that it breaks strings like nothing else I've played with. Using decent softer strings they break in 4 hitting sessions.

Well, if my recent experiment w/ changing sticks is any indication, I say he should stay w/ what he knows. The grass isn't always greener.

However, having said that, if I never switched to the X Force Pro, how would I know it was the stick for me?

Seriously, he should just play the remainder of the season w/ the larger frame and assess in the offseason how it feels. He's not going to be #1 this year, and he likely will not win the US Open, so he might as well put the rest of the season down to experimentation.

IMHO he should have switched before clay season, but I could see where he might want to stay with old faithful for Wimby.
