Wow, two lawyers already.....
Can I just ask both Fena14 and Sentinel, which Uni's you guys went to? And just how hard is it getting a job exactly?

Used to be a psychologist.

Became a naturopath that specialised in behavioural conditions - especially children with ADHD and learning disorders.

Decided to move to Germany. Went back to uni, qualified as a high school teacher.

Now running my own martial arts/taiko drumming school in the Black Forest. Busier than I thought but very nice to be making money from lifelong passions.

Went to the University of Birmingham, depends on what kind of law you want to do as to how easy it is to get a job. Friends who graduated at the same time as me couldn't even get secretary jobs at law firms, that's how hard it can be.

Most had to go into different areas, one friend does risk management for a betting firm and hates it with a passion.

Don't let it put you off though, there are jobs out there, if that's what you want to do and you give yourself a back up plan, it should be ok.

If you're american, unless you have the chops to start your own practice or can get into yale/harvard, do not go to law school

Derp- says australia, no idea what the legal market is like there

Thread should be more properly titled "How much do you make?"

brief history of the roles since I've left school, going to be 26 in August... gettin old.

g10 fx strategy at a bulge bracket to a
capital markets group at a boutique to
consulting (healthcare industry) to
data science/analytics team in media/advertising (which I start next month)

^^ no, it's a thread by a high school kid wanting to know what people do. Don't confuse yourself ("a poser and a wannabe") with him.

I work for Rippe & Kingston in Cincinnati. My division provides Financial Management Software to law firms, and I work in the sales/marketing department.

I'm a trained chef who recently graduated from high school (culinary program, lots and lots of booze). Had a summer job for a month and a half at a restaurant featured in the Swedish version of the AA guide. Quit a few weeks ago since the head chef came back from vacation. Currently waiting to get back to school to become a trained waiter and later on hoping to complement every skill with a sommelier course.

Plan to open a restaurant?

I don't like the fancy restaurants where they put a small amount of food in the middle of a big plate, with most of it leaves which they say came from the local herb garden, and then apply streaks of sauces on the remaining part of the plate with a nozzle to provide aesthetic appeal.

^ Normally those dinners consist of like 9-12 courses though so it's still plenty of food.

The idea is that you have just enough small bites to keep you excited so you don't get bored and then the next small plate comes.

Though it does seem said fancy schmancy stuffy places are going out of style now.

Your and suresh's post remind me of the movie Frenzy (Hitchcock), the wife of the detective who has just come back from a chef's course and makes delicacies for her husband which he finds unpalatable :D

He pines for a "humble" meal of eggs and bacon and sausages :)

I (contrary to popular belief) do not work at TW.

I'm an electrical engineer working at one of those big companies people love to hate ;)
[Hint: It's thought of as a software company, but is 'now' a "devices" company]
