What's with all the PS95's and 100's

Do people really want to Fed that badly? 3 of my opponents are now playing with the bigger amplifeel box frames. I'm now killing these guys with impunity.

Trust me, it won't help your game! Why are they doing this?

Marketing is bad!

Says the man with Marat as his nickname, avatar and uses a larger head version of the Prestige (safin used the PC600).

You're in the same boat as they're man. Just saying'...

First of all, I don't know that this is the right section to talk about your opponents behind their backs.
Second, the PS 95 is not a bad frame. I currently compete with the Blade 98 18x20 but if I could make enough time to customize the PS 95 just the way I like it, it'd be a pretty close contender.
Third, I believe they would be " Dimitroving" and "Dologopoloving" more than "Feding"
Fourth, ......good luck with that burn...ouch

That's not even Feds frame and the fact that they have it means the marketing is good not bad or am I missing something?

Blx ps 95 is an awesome customizable frame and probably hits a bigger ball than any other 95 I can think of. Honestly I'm surprised i don't see more.

I suspect his screen melted before he finshed reading the note.

Yes, some people want to use the same rackets as their idols and think
it will enable them to play like the pros. Image is also important in tennis.
For some it is just "cool" to be using the same racket as Federer.

Ha I forgot i even posted this! I don't come here often.

Well you got me...I guess. Hmmmm considering I played with the pt280 before safin even came on tour. Now if i had a Muster or Tommy Haas avatar you might havea case. However, I do have a pc600s somewhere, it's fun to knock with but too limiting when in match play.

But youll have to excuse me, I need to get some aloe someone said I had 3rd degree burns so off to the hospital I go! :)

That Fed frame is ruining my good hits. That's all I'm saying. I'm seeing that frame everywhere and nobody playing well with it. Put hey, could just be my club, it only has 3000 members. Maybe it's not a bad frame but the reason the people I know are playing with it is because they think it's a mortal's fed frame which is exactly how Wilson positioned it.

Watch how many go out and by Feds granny stick when the release it. Sigh, even though it won't be true to his 'real' frame at all.

I take it you guys all use that frame. I'm sorry that I hurt you. No I'm dead serious. I know how seriously you racket-o-philes take your frames to heart. My deepest apologies.

Sorry you didn't get much of a reaction from me. I missed the whole osnap stuff, that's more a Gen Y kind of thing. Next time I'll try to get more ****ed off! Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Insult Pearl Jam or something that might get me going!

So now you're making fun of people who prefer classic frames like the PC600 and the Pro Staff 90's? What are you going to say to the generation of play who grew up on the Pro Staff 6.0 85?

Just cause you don't have the game to rock these frames, you don't have to mock the people who use these frames as their go-to frames. And no, PC600 is not too limiting in match play. It's never the frame, it's the player.

Oh Sin,

Let's all take a deep breath. No ones insulting anyone. Ok! Let's all go have some apple juice. Yoga is really soothing. Tried it? I have, it's great!

Well you pretty much repeated my point. These players, case in point, should not buy those frames. They do because of marketing that in some sudden epiphany of divine intervention that this frame will let them be federer. It's the player you're right, and some players shouldn't play with some sticks. For example if I put a granny stick in you Hand do you think that's the frame for your swing length?

So 3 of the guys I hit with are all using the larger fed amplifiers. I am bageling them now. I don't think the have gotten worse or hmmmmm maybe those frames are cursed....JUST like Rogers is right now!

I'm going to watch Pirates of the Carribean 2 and 3. Maybe I can find some magic voodoo spell to undo this curse!!!

Roger don't worry. I'll save you!

You're criticizing those who use mid+ versions of a pro's racquet while you're doing exactly the same. What's the difference, that you're better? Then you could've just named the title of the thread 'I'm way better than most players at my club and that says a lot because my club has over 3000 players'

I think the box beam made a comeback on it's own due to market demand, not because of fed. I have hit the 95 and enjoyed it. I don't play the frame, but probably would if I gave up the dunlops as it was very similar and feel and power. Here is the big kicker...I am not a fed fan! Not even a little. Delpo and Roddick (if he'd come out of retirement).

At my home club I've seen a lot of 40s-50s men using these because they like the flexibility and box beam, but also need the forgiveness that a 95 or 100 offers. And a few are in fact trying to imitate fed with a PS 100

I'm part of the demographic you describe and you've described me to a tee. I learnt the game first with wood then came of age in an era of 17-19mm box beams and the BLX 90,95,100's are (I think) the only current frame molds that have that perfectly uniform box beam profile.
In no other brand, I think, is there that square-ish cube mold/profile which provides the feel I crave. Every other brand's so-called box beam frames are perhaps better described as flat beams which have a thinner edge when viewed front-on and not entirely boxy. The biggest disappointment with Wilson are the stupid PJs.

Lol you miss my point. My hitting partners were doing much better with their old frames! I don't think I'm better but those frames have made them worse. Could it a coincidence they are all federer fans!? I think not.

Oh for everyone who thinks I'm using a bigger copy of the pc600. I think you might want to check your facts. If I'm not mistaken the 93 (or 89) mid prestige predates my racket by almost 6 years. The head tx professional 1986 was the first mid mold. My frame was modeled after the pt280 which also included later the pro tour 630. The pt 280 was favored by Thomas Muster and is still used by several pros today ( Murray and Simon, haas). They were lumped together for marketing purposes.

I hate burst yer bubbles everyone but just gotta set the record straight.

Oh SNAP! Well I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!

Yes I think no other racquet offers a uniform box throughout the frame. It's unique to the frame. Lol maybe a spalding ace or something way back....actually hmmmmm...wasn't the old Dunlop 300g box frame?

I've hit the the 6.0 ps. There is no other racquet with as much plow then that frame unmodified. Why mess with perfection?

My sentiments exactly.

One of my favourite frames is the pro-staff 90 in whatever guise - lengthened by 1/2 an inch which puts back the power that the racket otherwise doesn't have. I grew up with wood rackets and am constantly looking for that thin box beam flexy feel.

Also highly recommended is the Yonex pro RD 70 long 95 ( and to a lesser extent, the 105) : a 16-19mm box beam which, with a bit of lead, is another of my favourites.

However, Davai is right. I don't get my best results with the Wilson 90 even though it's almost heaven to hit with. My current stick is a Prince Exo3 tour which like all good women, is soft, comfortable, powerful, forgiving and makes up for all my mistakes.

By the way, this is the funniest thread I've read since Fedace departed.... I miss the guy. I presume he's a guy.
