Seriously? Hope they exist in a Plus version. And hope they have more spin than the Ltd. Goddman that pattern is tight, despite the absolute sweetness that frame is.

Didn't know he was making the change to the Pure strike.

Matching with the Adidas orange on his outfit too.

How is the spin compared to the PS Ltd? I'll wait until I destroy my frames for the moment, especially if there isn't a Plus version. EDIT: Especially since Tsonga is known for using "Plus" frames. Indeed, him using it at the USO would've been an excellent marketing move by Babolat. Too bad it went by the window, but nice thinking.

I have this new frame at home in the tour version that i presume Tsonga use. It´s very stiff with an RA touching around 70 but it´s a really solid frame. Good power, good control.

Only downside imo is that it has to be strung fairly tight. Recommendation was somewhere around 26-27 KGS. First it was strung with Xcel black at around 27 kgs and played like a dream.
Then i strung it with Signum Pro Tornado in 22 kgs and it was not feeling so great anymore. Dont go to low with this new frame is my recomendation

As if Tsonga is changing too a whole new racket.. He's just endorsing the new one by the use of a paintjob. It might still be different from his APD13, but then again, that wasn't the same APD13 that we buy in store either.

Have you ever seen an APD? It has a very distinctive mould. Like, very, very distinctive. It's really unique. Painting the Strike, which has a more boxy beam onto an APD would make one really obvious of a paint job. He could've requested a stick with similar specs, but painting an APD frame like any other Bab frame is stupid. Too obvious. Maybe not on blurry TV, but it's not rocket science either if you have a close enough picture. Even the Pure Drive has quite the unique mould, although it's a bit more easily to disguise.

Counting the strings might help too if you wanna find out what Tsonga is using.

More like looking at the yoke/bridge. Strikes seem to have a 8 string bridge if we refer to prototypes we've seen here and there, while the APD has a 6 string bridge. He could perfectly have a 16/19 frame with an 8n string bridge. Not very common but it exists. The new Blade 98 2013 has an 8 string bridge in its 16/19 version, there's a bit less space between the 8 center mains than the other ones.

Wait until you play it.........easily one of the best frames Babolat has ever made.

wow, Gav you must have a great Babolat contract!

We are not (supposed) to sell the racquets under our contract terms.

Having said that, most pros here are doing it!

Glad Tsonga is back playing, he could play with anything, just hope he stays... healthy!

I play APD 13's , thank you. I never said that he painted the APD to look like a strike. Obviously that would be easy to spot. I'm just saying he is probably using a frame customized for him, more boxed of a frame than he was using of course, painted to look like a new Pure Strike. Read carefully Ash.

First, YES, Tsonga did play with the retail stick. Probably customized to his specs, but the retail (unlike Nadal and a few others).
Second, the shape of the one in the pictures has nothing to do with the APD.

No worries Gav! It's all Tsonga.

no problem...just pulling your leg.

I hit with the Pure Strike 305g 18/20 today & quite liked it.
It was from distributor & strung quite snug @59/58lbs with RPM Blast.
I would probably hybrid it with Xcel.

But everybody has to pick their own string, weight & set-up.
Going to hit with the 320g version tomorrow.

Pleased obviously that Tsonga is back & I think the racket will be a good fit.
I'm sure Babolat is hoping he can Slam with it!

Does this racket have the Aero throat? At one point there was supposed to be a replacement for the Aero Storm. Is this it?

Sorry to burst your bubble, Jo is using a weighted/customized version of the one you will be able to demo.

Kinda and yes this is pretty much what replaces the Aero Storm line. It's really a whole new line.

Playing with the new Heads as well - same damn color - black and that Flouro red/orange?

New Head Prestige Pro SUCKS btw.

Very interesting. And is the new line as comfortable as the new APD? I think the latest upgrade is a huge step forward in that respect.

No he will not I hate misinformation...or misleading posts... tsonga is using extended racquet as afaik there will be no extended version for now so good luck for mere mortals "customizing" retail stick to use what tsonga is using. Missed opportunity for Babolat to bring exactly what tsonga is using to retail...Average "Jo" might not know the difference but talk tennis folks will :)

Because the Hyper ProStaff 6.5 he used to use under a [K]Blade PJ was extended maybe?

how does it compare to his old aeropro plus frame. More power, less power, same extended length ?

AFAIK his HPS6.5 and APD were 27,5 inches long. I'm not sure about the [K]obra Tour mold he used just before switching to Babolat.

However I doubt he'd just switch to a standard length frame.
I'm with dgoran on this one. Why mislead? Especially here where most of us know about paintjobing, false advertising etc. This is a common, yet sad, practice.

The APD is. The HPS isn't, or at least not stock. So who actually knows?

Finally he is playing with a more boxy frame again. I could never understand his switch to the APD. Shame he wasted so many years with that racquet..

Must have been the contract Babolat offered was to good to refuse.
He also stated in a French interview to want to have more impact and less spin in his game. I think both parties had something to gain: Tsonga gained money and a frame more suited to "flat hitters" while Bab' gained some visibility for this new line. Win-win.
