What's it like to go through surgery, enjoy the read.

Came across this article on SI that talks about surgery day for Giants safety Stevie Brown, he was in for an ACL reconstruction.

For those of you who's been through (any kind of joint surgery), were you nostalgic upon reading this article? And you're patting yourself on the back for making a comeback? (I know I was :) )

And for those of you who's never had to go through joint surgeries, yes, they are pretty violent.

63 min? My ACL surgery took 4 hours back in '99...I'm sure the techniques have been refined in 14 years.

No mention if Mr. Brown was intubated or had a catheter put in. I was told I did, fortunately I had no soreness associated with either, but I'm sure some people who have undergone surgery have woken up with sore throats or other:shock:

I'll never forget the feeling when the anesthesiologist put the drug to knock me out in my IV line. I felt this slow crawling burn going up my arm as the drug traveled upwards. Eerie. I could feel as the drug entered my brain and had this warm fuzzy feeling. The doctor told me I'd be out in 10 seconds and I counted down the time. Sure enough, after 1, I passed out and awoke in the recovery room.

I've witnessed a total knee replacment done, that was pretty freaking violent. Surgeon was hammering away trying to place the tibial portion HARD....something was wrong.....he stopped, left the room and was gone for a while. Doc came back in with someone and was livid, yelling. Guy left and came back with a huge case. Opened up the case, and more hammering took place.

Turned out something was wrong with the implant. Surgeon left and found the knee implant rep, who came back with a brand new set of implants in the case. Cra cra...

Once the implant had taken place, the surgeon aggressively moved the knee in all sorts of funky directions. I'm sure the same is done with an ACL replacement.

I watched a video right before my 2nd shoulder surgery. Good god that was such a mistake.
