Thanks!

Synch the laces? Don't tell me it's like the 4.3s...

My bad. No I just meant tie the laces that come with the shoes tight. I used some of TWs terminology to explain that and confused not only you but me (on a re-read) too! And worry not, the lace holes on the B7 and 8 are bulletproof unlike the 4.3s. I pull them all tight apart from the top inner ankle hole as that can be a bit stiff and rub if pulled tight. Hope that explains things better bud.

So do people still prefer 7 vs 8?

I just dug out a version V out of my storage, to use it on clay over the flimsier NIKE CBs 4.3. and I don't know which Barricades to buy next time, 7 or 8?

I liked the 7's better than my 8's. Too much movement of my foot inside the shoe unless I continually tighten the laces throughout a playing session.

Thanks for the explanation!

You know what? I think that while I get better support with the Barricades (V in my case), I might tire more and feel my toes (after 3-4 hours of play on clay), then in the CB 4.3s...I'll try the later again today.

Ah that's the problem that plagued me with Nike CBs 4.3; good to know, thanks!

To add some to my last post:

I added a cushioned insert which helps :)

Next pair will be a size 10... instead of my usual 10.5

I just recently switched from the vapor 9s to the Barricade 8's. I went with the same size and the vapors were a tad longer but not by much. I noticed the Barricade 8's are a just little shorter in length compared to the 7's and the asics gel res 5's to be longest in the same size. I've used them twice so far and never experienced any toe jamming issues. The only shoes where I experienced toe jamming was with the CC Feather II's.

It's hard to buy the CB's when the lacing system breaks after a few weeks on court. I can't believe Nike hasn't remedied that yet! That lacing issue made me switch to the barricades and I'm not going back.

As usual, the "Warriors" are hideous.

I actually loved last years Warriors. I loved the color scheme and the 'etching' on the shoes. I wear them a fair bit off the courts and always receive compliments and inquiries on them.

This years Warrior however... Really ugly based on those pictures.

This past weekend I tried on the new 8's and overall I was impressed with the upgrade over the 7's. Definitely won't need that much breaking time. Gonna cop for sure, but I'm waiting for other colorways, tho.

For now I went with Big Shot II, which was even more impressive on foot.

^^Been trying to break mine in for two weeks now and they are still stiff. I've been working in them (stringing racquets and walking around my store), taking to the grocery store, doing drills in them, etc and they are still stiff (after two weeks). I will keep at it but I am going to order some GR5s because I prefer out of the box comfort.

Where are you finding them stiff? As with the 7, I only experienced stiffness at the inner-ankle collars. Lacing solves this.

But yes, GR5s feel like slippers.

Myself, I'm still split and as I'm about to try GR5's, still use CB's, but trying not to lace them as tight (also considering that if I play more then one hour, that might become even more painfull, due to some swelling)..
Basically I'm still sold on the softness.

Barricades 8 would be next to try (although I still have to wear out a pair of V, bought a couple of years ago).

Experiencing toe jamming with B8, never such issue with B5 or 7 worn in the past... I wear 2 socks but still got a black nail, first in probably 4-5 years. Only about 10 hrs of playing, and shoe string cut at top eyehole.... Could be due to the quality of string, eyehole and/ or the fact I had to lace it tighter to keep my feet from moving in the shoe. So unsure if B8 is an upgrade over B7 yet... but I do like lighter feel with the same solid lateral stability. Will see how it wears after broken in more.

I wore my 8's for the first time today. They feel like typical Barricades with a bit more room in the toe box versus the 6 and 7's. If you don't lace them tightly enough, your foot tends to slide forward. Tighten the laces.

Wider. I think I could have gone down a half-size.

The sliding has stopped and they are now pretty comfortable. IMO, there is a break-in period with these. When I go for my 6-month replacements, I'll request a half-size smaller.

The soles on these seem to wear better than the B7's

the top eyelet is digging into my ankle. any remedy for this? does it get better after the shoe is broken in? thanks

Yup, there is. First, is it the medial side? I'm assuming it is and the fix is to pull the laces tight all the way up the shoe except the final eyelet on the medial side. Don't pull this tight (you can the top eyelet on the lateral side) and then tie the laces. You should be able to put your fingers between the medial side and bend it back. You'll have no more issues yet your foot will still be secured.

I still have the scar from 18 months back from my B7s (had the same ankle collar as the 8s) which is from before I knew about this. I wore Mueller athletic tape over the cut while it healed, it's great stuff and may be worth trying while the ankle collar softens up a little (it will only ever soften slightly, so make sure to follow the above lacing advice).

Hope it makes sense and works for you.

it is the medial side. i dont quite follow the lacing instructions. are you saying to not use the top medial eyelet but lace everything else tight including the top lateral eyelet? thanks

Really like these shoes, been wearing them for a couple months now and they feel really solid and durable. They are a little heavy but it doesn't bother me at all as I switched over to these from multiple pairs of propulse 4's. I'm wearing the black color way atm and they look pretty good too.

Thought it would be.

No, you lace all eyelets, but when you tighten the laces and get to the top pair of eyelets, only pull the lateral side lace really tight, leave some give on the medial side.... and then lace them up.

No worries and hope this makes more sense bud as they're a very good shoe once you get around this issue.

I've never experienced any eyelit or toe jamming problems as others have mentioned. The only issue I have is there kind of heavy, I feel a half step slower in them compared to what I previous wore in the Vapor 9's which were more speed oriented and lower to the ground. However the v9s gave me left heel pain due to the heel being higher off the ground so that's main reason why I switched. I tried other shoes in the Asics Gel Res. 5's but I couldn't get the sizing right.

Since it looks like the 8 is all mesh; how do you think it reacts when it rains and you are walking on the sidewalker or roadway. You think the rain will come through you top and sides of the new B8 shoe?

Just hate to have wet feet!

It'll be no worse than 90% of tennis shoes which have mesh. You may want to design your own Gore-Tex tennis shoes- they have them for running but I find them too stuffy. And talking of wet feet, I'll take mesh any day as it'll dry faster and breathe better.

Got done talking with an Adidas online chat and he said that it a tightly mesh and should keep the rain out!

I try to buy it for $170 customized to my liking but the customizing program did not do the all black color that I wanted. The midsole had three choices and you had to pick from orange, white or green. I decided to wait till you can really get it customized the way you want it to be. The guy said he was sorry!

These things do not fit man nor beast. Very wide but short. Size 11 for me is wide enough but toe touches the end. 11.5 is just way too big. And I can tell already the top eyelet on the inside will dig into my ankle, as others have mentioned. BAD shoes. Why don't they just make the same fit as the Barricade 4 and Barricade 5???

hmmm...maybe it you (and a few others).
I've had these shoes for almost 3 months and definitely no other Barricades compare comfort, stability, weight, durability-wise. Definitely B7 and B8 are two of my favorite Barricades and I had them all minus the B3

i recently got the new B 8s claycourt (black). they are kind of different in terms of design and upper material compared to the hard court version.

unfortunately i experienced the same problems: the shoe is wider, there is some sliding and toe jamming.

not really happy with the new version:???:

Just gota new pair of the new B8's in black (hardcourt) and won a tough first match with them.

Definitely very stable and change of direction with footwork was solid. I did have some slight toe jamming on the left foot on volleys but I re-laced them to be a tad tighter and it went away.

8's for me took forever to break in. Had 2 blisters on my right ankle from lacing the last 2 holes. Cushioning was non existent.

Major major disappointment

last baricades I liked were the 5's how do these compare? I hated the 6 and 7. The pair of six I bought lasted forever, but the killed my feet.

The 8 does not compare to the 5 in any way.
The 5 was the last good fitting Barricade.
The 8's fit horrible.

3rd shoelaces in 8 weeks... I broke the original within 2 weeks. Now keeping spares in my bag. This never happened to me with B5 or B7, very annoying!

Does anybody know what the colorways for this years Barricades will be? I need a new pair, but don't like the colorways out at the moment for the 8s.

Don't know the colorways for the rest of the year, but what is there not to like about the colorways out right now? There are 2 versions of white, a black one, a blue one, and a pretty sick looking shanghai one. They all look pretty awesome IMO.

Just curious what you don't like about them.

Special asian edition to celebrate the year of the horse.I think it looks pretty cool.

They look pretty nice, a lot of white though. Simple yet good.

When you say "special Asian edition," do you mean they're only going to be released in Asia? Or are they going to be released around the time of the Asian swing tournaments like Beijing, Shanghai ect.?

Not sure why but Barricade 7s (and other shoes) hurt my right foot. It must be a weird fit issue. Vapor 9s are the only ones that are perfectly comfortable.

I felt the shoe press into my arch on the left foot a bit but not on the right:confused:
