I can see Fed getting motivated and potentially taking a set from Nadal, but hanging with Nadal through 3 just isn't going to happen.
I don't know if its loss of concentration, or just old age, but he can't hang with the likes of Nadal anymore.
If the past 2 years are any inclination, Nadal in 3.

Ok first off Nadal is not at his peak. His form on the other hand is excellent. On the other hand Federer is old and his form has been pretty bad.

I would say you are being rather pessimistic about Nadal. I wouldn't call his game this week mediocre. Federer has been starting poorly in his matches this week and we all know he can play Djokovic and Del Potro. Against Nadal, losing the first set is like game over.

He CAN win. He's more than capable, but he will have to play better than he has been, and I don't see that right now. Hence my Nadal pick. But no you are not delusional for believing that Federer can win.

I'm not pessimistic, but all you guys are acting like he's been cruising through his RR matches. Both sucked in the match against Ferrer, Wawa could've won the match easily too, he even won more points than Ralph.
That's not excellent in my book, with all due respect the WTF is played under the worst possible circumstances for Ralph.
Those two wins and the 3 setter should be a decent confidence booster for Fed who's obviously the best indoor player by far in this field. Only deficit is his lack of form this year and his age probably. Still people are writing him off too easily.
Ralph will probably win this match but Fed definately has a decent chance to take this one. He sure as hell won't steamroll Fred.

Other than Clarky, no Ralph fans think Fed WILL win, they just think Fed's got a bigger chance then most people think.
And Clarky is not a fan. He/she predicted Nadal to lose early at Miami, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, Montreal, Cincinnati, US Open, Beijing, Shanghai, Paris. Guess how many he/she/it got right?! If he/she/it was a multi-millionaire with a dozen houses and alway bet one of thouse house on Ralph losing early he/she/it would be now worse of 8 houses.

Fed fans whine too much. Fed is 4-0 vs Nadal at this event. He will obviously be the favorite. But it's an interesting semi. It's gonna be all about which factor will tip the scale. Fed's aging/decline or Rafa's discomfort on the surface as evidenced by their past history there. The fact the answer is not all that obvious makes the match interesting. I'm betting on Rafa but I have no doubt Fed is gonna play like a man possessed. This is pretty much his last shot at the limelight as I don't see him pulling it off in a best of 5 anymore. Fed is not gonna struggle with motivation or focus in this one, you'd better believe it!
Imo, it will make for a better semi than Delpo/Nadal. Delpo has been rather erratic and mentally brittle of late. There is a possibility that Fed will be physically overwhelmed from the get go, but he'll fight tooth and nail for this one, you'll see.

How can you call Federer the favourite? He's had an awful year and is in a weak spot mentally (Nadal will capitalise on this). I agree he has a decent chance at winning but the most likely scenario is him losing a close match. The lack of rest might have its consequences if it goes to 3 as well.

Yes because every match is different. You don't seriously believe Fed is the favourite do you? Don't try to blow up this win for Nadal any more than it should be. Federer can make a match out of it, but if Nadal doesn't win tomorrow it will be a pretty sizeable upset and a failure on Nadal's part unless Federer somehow plays fantastic.
Did the people taking Fed for the win see the match today? If he plays like that tomorrow, he will be bum rushed off the court by the humble one and his uncle. Delpo brought nada today and still should have won. I hope Roger can raise his level tomorrow and shake the nerves or it will be a slaughter.
