The odds for Federer are 5/2. Unless I'm mistaken, that means that people actually putting money on it think the odds of Federer winning are 28.6% vs. 71.4% for Nadal.

Nadal is the favorite according to the market. This is the most reliable predictor of matches. So it would be a fairly big, but not huge upset for Federer to win.
I'm surprised the odds are not a bit closer but I guess it's a testament to how much Fed has declined over the last few months (and how much Rafa has improved on hard).

Overall: After 1-5 in the 1st, Fed played great other than the two service game he gifted to Delpo. He defended really well and used the slices to move Delpo around as usual, when he was patient he got his reward. And Fed's mental strength and will dragged him through to the end.

Very good summary.. Is it from memory or you make a journal of every match ?

Delpo is the new Verdasco of tennis.

Kudos.

Starting to think that this is actually quite correct assessment.

Del Potro falters once more vs one of the top players. I had high hopes for him but other than his USO 2009 title and odd win here and there (see Beijing 2013) he was not able to compete at the same level as big 4.

Missed the match.. heard there was a great point in which Del potro hit a hotdog and then Fed hit a back toithe net flick reversed smash to stay in the point and eventually pass DP with a forehand cross...anyone got that one on video????

Awesome match. Federer's FH was bad, but everything else was top class.

Almost came back in 1st set. Was clearly the better player . Won like 15 more point than Delpo and he looked like he was going to break Delpo every other game.

The games he lost were some brief memory loss.

He had some great streaks like winning 12 points on a stretch.

Fed started the match like he was dreaming, was trying exhibition mode but obviously didn't work, seemed like he was lost or something. Gets broken in 1st game, and again at 1-3 when up 40-0 in his own service game. Then when Delpo served for the set at 5-2, Fed finally remembered his game plan and started using more slices, defending better off the BH wing, won 10 points in a row to get back to 4-5, had 2 BPs to even it all but Delpo saved both with clutch serving and won 6-4.

Second set: Fed got to deuce in Delpo's 1st service game, couldn't captialise, gets broken at 1-1. Breaks back to love at 1-3 by some sloppy points from Delpo. Fed upped his game by the end of the 1st set and was the same here, held comfortably to TB, played a magnificent TB, seals it with an ace 7-2.

Third set: Like against Djokovic, gets broken in 1st service game and goes down 0-3. At 3-1, Delpo choked an easy put away BH DTL ala Rafa AO2012 style, gets pushed back to 30-30 instead of 40-15. Fed got BP afterwards but missed FH by a fraction (same as against Djokovic 1st set), but got the 2nd after Delpo hit a FH long. Shaky service game from Fed but still held to 3-3. Fed finally broke again at 5-5, couldn't make a single first serve in the deuce court when serving for the match, saved a BP, and wins his 1st match point with an ace.

Overall: After 1-5 in the 1st, Fed played great other than the two service game he gifted to Delpo. He defended really well and used the slices to move Delpo around as usual, when he was patient he got his reward. And Fed's mental strength and will dragged him through to the end.

WOW great analysis guys. So Fed played well?! Damn, color me surprise. Thought he'll be too tired.

It was awful, Novak barely showed up.

It's always a bad day when lord egg isn't in our presence.

I actually turned on the TV to DelPo hitting the tweener (just woke up haha) and was already pumped. I was very happy when Fed hit that forehand pass.

Lol. Wtf is like the most lousy play of all tournaments.
Just ridiculous to sit there and watch how they make a show out of it on ace, bp etc. Just very strange! Maybe for people who never watch tennis before it is exciting.

This dark movie voice saying ACE.. And the whole stadium trembler. Gosh so stupid! It is much more stupid there than on tv.

Really?

It hurts my eyes on TV, but seems like the atmosphere would be electric in person.

It's weird, it seems like a lot of the time the players (on changeovers) are sitting in the dark. Then, I saw where ace or set point was on ticker.

It seems like it's really loud, is it? Are you enjoying it?

Wait, blacking out the audience hurts your eyes on the TV? How?

I think the 'ace' 'set point' 'match point' and 'game, set, match' texts without the voice would be cool. :)

It's so busy. Too much going on. I have to turn my head away to refocus. I always have problems when they switch to different surfaces. Like when they go from hard court to the FO. Initially, I have a problem picking up the ball.

It's not the audience, it's the lights, the ticker, and the player sitting in the dark. I don't remember Paris and the WTF being this way.

Was it the first year they've done this?

You know what, tickers are unnecessary for tennis matches. I don't why I thought they were good at first.

The colors on the surface outside of the courts are brighter than last years. I think having everything on a brighter hue of blue plus the lights does affect your viewing experience. The hue was darker during last year's WTFs. Also, the crowd is blacked out much darker compared to last year's tournament.

I think being there would be different. A lot of excitement.
