If he can't beat Djoker in his BEST YEAR EVER

Then how can he be better than him? Novak proved he is the true number one and that he will reclaim it in 2014.

Honestly, he looked scared the whole match. He was sweating and running left to right while Novak controlled him easily.

Novak is more complete player than Nadal and this will be confirmed when he wins RG next year.

Im kind of glad Nadal lost. This will fire him up even more for the Australian. Nadal is better proving people wrong and chasing the favorite than he is being the favorite

He lost 3 times as well. Sorry try again.

And the toughest match? he lost 3 and 4.

Same story will be replayed in AO as well, just watch.:)

Ofc he did and I'm not saying that Rafa will beat Nole at AO. I'm just saying how you can possibly say Rafa can't beat Nole in his best year when he clearly has done. Rafa's 3 wins came at 1 masters and 2 slams whereas Nole beat him in 1 masters, 1 wtf and 1 500. Pretty clear who's had the most significant victories. And to suggest that this was the toughest match is just foolish considering their FO epic.

Nadal looked confused out there. I was watching him a few rows back, he just seemed to look a bit lost out there, and at most times did not seem to know what Djokovic was doing with the ball. It was like his reaction at times was just a second too late.

Erm Nadal's beaten him at the big ones e.g(French and u.s open) and if you ask which year they would rather have and who's had the bigger year and bigger wins over the opposition then you'd have to pick the former.

He seemed to be a bit overstretched...

Nadal beat Novak in US OPEN final & FO semis.

I will take that any day for any number of tourney in given year.

AO will be tough one to predict because last time they played 6 hours... let see in 2014

Uhh...Nadal DID beat Novak this year. 3 times, and in big BIG matches. Like ya know, the FO and USO.

Clearly Nadal deserves the #1 ranking this year even if Novak is currently playing better the last couple months.

Rafa beat Novak to win all the biggest titles (FO and USO). He and Novak are 3-3 overall this year.

Failed thread!

As expected he was totally outplayed today by Joker. It's a joke that Nadal is #1 right now while Joker is so obviously the better player.

It's not a joke at all. Rankings are awarded on overall performance throughout the season, not what you happen to be doing right now at this moment.

Facts:

Big Titles won in 2013 (ie. Grand Slams, WTF and Masters 1000):

Nadal = 7, Djokovic = 5.

Overall Titles won in 2013:

Nadal = 10, Djokovic = 7.

Case closed.

Me too. I would rather he lose this than a more important tournament. You're going to have losses anyway.

As a Nadal fan I am ecstatic over his season. World #1 after missing the Oz, Player of the Year, 10 tournaments, 2 majors.

Whoo. He did me proud.

I never thought he was going to win it anyway.

Hi Jeffrey.

I like the way you think.

I'm like you, I'd take Rafa's stats for this year any day. 2 majors? 5 masters?

Please.

I've been all over defending Nadal from the likes of Powerangle and his merry band of Cvacions tonight. Too bad Powerangle is such a cry baby he reported me for it. Lol.

TheTruth knows that I'm not a Nadal hater.

And go ahead...keep posting that image. :)

Joker won AO, Nadal didn't even play AO, Joker reached final of wimby, Nadal got Darcis'd in round one. Joker reached SF RG and final USO. So won way more ATP points in slams alone.
The ranking system is a joke, Nadal gained all his points because he didn't have to defend **** in the second half of the year.

Yeah, so? I admit Djokovic shouts those vulgarities and he shouldn't do that, which is bad sportsman ship imo. But then again, I am a man enough to admit it unlike someone who has Hitler type of thinking and conversing

Every season is full of ups and downs. If you selectively cherry pick the downs, you can make anyone look bad. Fortunately for Nadal, he's had far more ups than downs this year, so it's tough to put a negative spin on his year no matter how hard you may try.

The only way to objectively assess a player's performance is to look at his body of work over a long period of time. Not even the most biased Novak fan can reasonably claim that Novak has had a better year than Rafa has. Similarly, anyone would prefer H2H wins at RG, USO, and Montreal over H2H wins in Monte Carlo, Beijing, and WTF.

This thread is an absolute fail.

You do realize that you would be saying that Nadal is better than Fed, since he beat Fed plenty of times in some of his best years: confused:.

I thought you were a Fed Fan.

So true.

Nadal's year has been phenomenal. I'm still happy.

Clarky stop pretending you're a Nadal fan. Stop pretending you know, anything about tennis, for example you said Federer was going to beat Nadal, which was so obviously never going to happen.

You changed your avatar, so I wasn't recognizing it.

But of course, still enjoying your input.

Thanks, I've been a lot more busy lately. I've been using that same darn avatar for years, wanted a change.

What slam do you want Rafa to win the most next year?

If I had it my way, I'd want Rafa to win the AO (double career slam), Novak to win FO (career slam), Fed to win Wim (record breaking 8th title), and JMP to win USO (he deserves another one).

I agree with this. Of course I'd rather Nadal winning the trophy, but what happened also has a positive side.

When you win everything, you lose your ambition and hungry. Now Rafa has a challenge after this loss. He will win Novak in the AO final.

True. I don't even know who you're a fan of. You're one of the most balanced posters on here.

I think you're very fair.

If only your fellow Nadal fan (rather pessimistic one) Clarky21 knew that I actually do like Nadal...

But anyway, I like both Fed and Nadal, and recently taking a liking to Novak due to his fighting spirit and endurance (he and Nadal share this quality). Do like Nishikori too but he's hardly in the spotlight.

I also like seeing history being made, so I loved it when Fed broke Sampras' slam record...and now I'm relishing that Nadal may break Fed's record, and the same time there is suspense as Novak can hang with Nadal. It's all very enjoyable for me. :)

Rafa AO, FO, W, and USO, lol.

But since I won't get what I want.

I'll give W to Murray and possibly USO.

You're more balanced than me:).

Great post OP. Djokovic goes undefeated in Nadal's best year and deserves #1. Djokovic only lost to Pascal Maria and mental burnout this year. ******** fake #1
