He destroyed clay court god Ferrer and beat Djokovic in 4 sets at the US Open. It's also worth highlighting that I'm being very sarcastic about Ferrer. It's also worth highlighting that Nadal didn't destroy Djokovic at FO. It's also worth highlighting that whilst Djokovic isn't in Nadal's league in terms of achievements, he is certainly capable of playing better than Nadal on hard courts. It's also worth mentioning that Djokovic is very capable of rinsing the tour next year considering he is pretty much a lock for the AO and is getting closer to winning the FO every year.
Since Djokovic stepped up in 2011, Nadal has beaten Djokovic 5 times. Once on hard and four times on clay. Meanwhile, Djokovic has beaten Nadal 10 times on every surface. the US open was the first time Nadal beat Djokovic on hard since like 2010. I don't predict many wins for Nadal over Djokovic on hard court.

Agree completely with this part of the post (removed sweating part since I couldn't care less about that).
Novak totally dominated Nadal in all of three wins he had over him this year(MC, Beijing, WTF), while Nadal's wins were all quite tight and lucky and influenced by other factors i.e. Nadal was not really better player in neither of them. (FO - Pascal Maria, Montreal - unsportsmanlike hit in the head that distracted Djokovic, USO - Djokovic turned into UE machine after dominating second and third sets).
So to repeat myself, Nadal was extremely lucky this year and if there was any justice Djokovic should have won both FO and UE since he was actually better player on both tournaments. Nadal was helped by external "forces" - i.e luck, cakewalk draws, favorable schedules, Pascal Maria, ...
That couldn't last too long and as we can see, Novak recuperated in the last part of the year, restored the proper order and is dominating Nadal and the rest of the field again.
Nadal had his lucky swan song this year, so the 2014 will look similar to 2011 with Novak winning 2-3 slams and, once regained, easily keeping his hold on #1 spot.

Nah. The low bouncing surface at the AO is tailor made for Djokovic. If it was the old rebound ace which was high bouncing then Nadal might have a chance as the current USO is similar in speed to the old AO played on rebound ace. USO was slowed down recently but it is high bouncing. Low bounce hc and grass are Nadal's worst surfaces.

Nadal had to win this for him, he wantes this title. This is not the best year for him because of this fact.
For me, the best year for nadal is beating the other great ones in every situation. All his fan boys remind us every time that he wins everyone in every surface. Now we have to read that he didnt wanted this title, that its only one game for him that had beaten other players in other situations. Come on, use the same criteria before and after his matches please, its not fare use contraditory arguments in different situations.

There are many Fed's records that Djokovic will never touch (i.e. 17 slams, ...), however I am not sure this is one of them.
This being said, I would be quite happy with 2 slams next year.
