Most pathetic performance from a team with a playoff spot on the line...I thought the Fins had that locked up at 4pm but the Bears rivaled that dismal display on SNF. I'll still go with the Fins though...playing a team whose season is done with a backup QB, a missing WR, losing two more wideouts to injury/ejection and getting shut out...prideless! C'mon man, how can you win when sacks allowed exceed first downs made???

The sad part...Miami still owns the #6 seed. Go Jets...end this charade!

The Bears were out of it by the end of the 1st quarter. The Bears have a quality QB, a WR corp that towers over opposing DBs, an all-pro level RB, and faced a team with a suspect defense that got clowned by a Vikings team w/o AP just the prior week. All the Bears had to do was win and the division was theirs.

The Eagles did nothing special other than run the same up-the-middle w/trap blocks down the Carebears' throats. For crying out loud, I would have done a better job as a defensive coordinator than what the Bears currently had going. The Bears' offense was riddled with miscues and penalties. The Eagles don't have a great defense while on paper the Bears have an explosive offense. But it just shows stats mean nothing come game time. I caught the game when it was 21-0. Just unBEARable to endure.

The crazy thing about that is next week we could find the Bears in the playoffs and the Eagles out. Next week my 49ers could be division champs, wildcard, or out of the playoffs.

For all the Romo-bashing from last week, he deserves a heap of praise for his clutch play to win Sunday...watching Jaworski break the play down on ESPN made me appreciate it even more. His delay in throwing the pass to his outlet in the flat influenced the LB just enough for Murray to get in the end zone.

SNF should be a good one...this is the first time Dallas hosts the decisive NFC East encounter and they have a chance to sweep their division. Kiffin is familiar with Kelly's offensive schemes from their days in the Pac-12. The down side is the health of the defensive crew...Lee at LB would be a great plus. They're not gonna match the early-season shutdown (3 points allowed at the Linc) but I don't think they will be embarrassed like Chicago.

They don't clinch it yet. They win on Sunday and Redskins lose to the giants then the RAMS get the #1 pick.

The Texans will do their very best to lose next week. The Titans are iffy, but they're not THAT awful.

Redskins are out to lose as well, but given how depleted the Giants are I'd call that game a pick 'em. Shanahan and Coughlin might both be gone.

The thought of the Rams possibly getting the 1st pick makes me shudder. The Rams aren't that bad of a team, though they need an upgrade at WR and at the offensive line. They could turn things around with a few good draft picks and make the NFC West even more competitive.

The 'Stick deserved a great parting shot and the Bowman pick-6 certainly qualified! Tears in the desert for the Cards as a result as that one play changes all the dynamics for week 17 and the playoffs.

Just saw Part 1 of the Lombardi bio on NFL Network...catch it if you can as it was a revealing portraiture on the man who has had the most influence on what the NFL has become. The best line concerned his demand that his team engage in "the relentless pursuit of perfection because we will never achieve that but in our chase for perfection we will run across excellence and that will be enough for us to win". I don't know if I got the quote exactly perfect but I feel it is an excellent representation of Mr. Lombardi's philosophy.

Personally, I'm deeply inspired by the Bear's touching tribute. Allowing 54 points to honor the jersey numbers of the recently retired Brian Urlacher shows a depth of emotion one would assume pro football players are not capable of. That game brought tears to my eyes.

Rodgers starting Sunday...finally! Ad Pack, but they need a healthy Lacy!
That is NOT good news. For several strange weeks there, us Bears fans were floating in some alternate universe where we have TWO decent quarterbacks and the Packers have none. Ahh well, back to reality I guess.

Dolphins eliminated.
Ravens got spanked. Gone as well.
Panthers clinch NFC south and get a bye.
Texans clinch getting the #1 pick.
Bengals looking like a title contender.
Will Coughlin save his job? RIP Shanahans....

With Peterson and Charles not playing, McCoy has the rushing title wrapped up. Josh Gordon has the receiving yards title.

Much more to play for....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

How the hell did the Carebears allow that WIDE open receiver to get the ball on 4th down!?!?!?!?! &&^*(&(&(*^&*^UCK!

Oh for the life of me. Friggin Bears blew that game.

Chargers can thank the football gods the Chiefs didn't bring out the big guns.

Thought you were a niners fan? Or do you dislike the pack?
Anyways theta was a really fun game.
Go cowboys!

I am a Niners fan. That and I don't like the Packers. I don't really care for the Bears, but I have family in Chicago so they were the lesser of two evils for me.

Dallas got robbed with that bogus "delay of game" penalty. Didn't matter. Cowboys convert that 4th down with a TD to Dez.

Dallas can't convert the 2-pts. Philly still up 24-22.

Steelers didn't make it...Chargers go to Cinci and Dalton better step up; 4 picks today but the Ravens couldn't take advantage of his generosity. San Diego will not be that kind!

I'm still in disbelief that the Chargers were able to nudge past KC's B squad. It won't matter anyway. Chargers have been night and day the whole year. I think Bengals could make some noise this year. Dalton won't be tossing INTs like that vs the Chargers.

Philly can beat the saints. Brees isn't the same player outdoors in the cold. I pick philly. (Beating my cowboys at least win a round!)

Pack with rodgers getting back and with them wanting to forget last years beat down will bring their a game. Real close one, gotta go pack, but just barely. SF hasn't been able to establish run game lately. Kap playing better with a legit receiving corps. Ugh, may change this one.

Toss up. Dalton sucks. But chargers worst secondary in league. Rivers is mediocre. Cincy d steps up they win. Also west coast team travels east odds aren't in your favour. Bengals win.

Possibly the best game. KC beats Indy. Haven't been impressed with Indy all year. They want to run but can't and I think luck is overrated. KC will dink and dunk for a win, then should lose next week.

According to Vegas three of the four are virtual toss-ups with Indy, Philly at home as 2.5 point favorites (less than the traditional 3 point home edge) and the Niners a road favorite at again 2.5. The lone favorite outside the range is Cinci at -7.

I'm not a believer in Dalton in January yet. He's been one and done both times and he did his absolute best to gift last week's game to Baltimore with 4 picks. The Chargers are in that one too. Rivers has wins in the playoffs so I'm smelling an upset here.

If indoor Brees shows up in Philly the Eagles are in trouble. I think Rob Ryan could possibly scheme a good enough defense to slow Foles, who is starting his very first playoff game so it falls on Brees not to gift this one to Philly.

San Fran should win in Green Bay. The key may be the Matthews injury as you can't tackle with one hand and the Niners move well on the ground.

Finally, the one I can't make my mind up on...which Indy shows up??? They bounced back nicely from their mid-to-late season woes and dominated KC just two weeks ago. This may come down to the wire and I'll go Indy bcoz Luck is nails in tight games.

Bucs sign Lovie Smith to return to Tampa...he cut his teeth on Dungy's staff as a defensive assistant before the Chicago HC gig.

Surprising that the GM spot wasn't filled first but maybe it's a sign Smith will have ultimate control.

That's a good pick by the Bucs. Dungy was magic for that program, perhaps Lovie can bring it back.

Da Bears' loss and de Bucs' gain! I guarantee every pewter/blood player will max out their effort for this guy. Let's hope he brings in a top offensive assistant to guide Glennon and all the talent surrounding him. The NFC South will be loaded next year, especially if the Falcons rebound.

I was reading the local paper at lunch and they were saying the Bucs may use their first round pick on another QB.

Ah, the scintillating Sentinel sports section...best use for it is on the floor of the patio on rainy days for my dogs!

If Smith has his way, look for Spartans' Dennard at CB to tandem with Revis in the pass-happy NFC South. He looked good in the Rose Bowl! They're drafting seventh and CBSSports has Dennard slotted ninth so that just might fit.

Track meet so far indoors @Indy with Chiefs and Colts both scoring TDs on opening drives. Charles is in the locker room being evaluated for a possible concussion. Ad Colts.

Who needs Charles? Chiefs crushing them without their star, up 24-7 thanks to big plays through the air and a gift fumble from Colts' Richardson.

62 total points and it's only halfway through the 3rd quarter! Now Luck throws his 3rd INT, giving KC a short field.

Gotta look up the record for most playoff points...gotta be in the 70s/80s???

Got it...96!!! Cards/Packers 51-45 OT four years ago!

89 total points doesn't get the record but they eclipsed the total yards mark! Incredible game and Luck did play its hand with the fumble picked up and ran in by #12!

Colts will be dangerous to either Broncos/Pats next week. Let's see where they go after tomorrow's result in Cinci.

Ugh, really feel for KC. Clearly the better team even without Charles, Avery, flowers etc. losing Charles is basically like any other team losing their QB. Indy gets by on luck. Not the QB. Indy still has no run game. Defense sucks giving up 44 to a team without top playmakers. Guess this really goes to show what momentum can do.

Oh! Duh. Forgot to credit hilton. KC couldn't guard him and he took over the game. Total dominance. Momentum and t.y that's why they won.

Giving up the 44 was the bad news for the Colts' D but much was fueled by Luck's INTs. The key play was Mathis' strip that ignited the comeback from 28 down. From that point on, the score was 35-6 for the Horseshoes.

Losing Charles was tough but Reid adapted his gameplan to his remaining weapons and the guys on the field responded. Smith played great, Bowe was strong, TEs caught balls and the backup RB was OK until he got hurt.

Eagles blew that game by not continuing to exploit the replacement DB, rookie FA Sweeting. They got too conservative, settling for the FG and a 1-point lead with way too much time left for Brees to drive for the game-winning kick. Carolina's Rivera learned that lesson and I guarantee if he was the coach they go for it on fourth down.

Boo, wanted the Eagles to pull that one off. Something about the Saints that i've never really taken to.

The Saints' win keeps alive the very remote possibility we could have an NFC Championship game held one last time at The 'Stick! For this, I am happy!

Not too shabby with my crystal ball, eh???

Tough loss for the Pack...the difference was the QBs' legs; Kaepernick extended plays and Rodgers wasn't able to.
