OK really enjoyed RipSpin 15 last night @46 lbs in Blade 98S.
Apparently this is a shaped string but that cannot be seen just by looking at it, it just looks round, can anyone confirm it's shaped?
Comfort was utmost in mind due to a year of TE/GE...
Lux 4G I couldn't play with ("quite firm" it says, sheesh). Head Hawk gave my elbow twinges but not totally bad. But this RipSpin was very comfortable.
Powerful and accurate.
My groundtroke is to hit more through the ball than brush it so for long strokes I went long a few times but generally got accurate depth - more power and spin (& feel) than Hawk.
Got consistent stringbed response, predictable launch angles, and achieved lots of low stuff accurately over the net (doubles).
Overall it seemed to add real strength and power to my light thin-beamed frame.

Dude- It's NOT shaped. There is a coating on the string itself that may have given you that impression.

Genesis True Grit 16
This one is a shaped AND twisted string that was not fun to work with. It was an instant bird's nest out of the package.
Tension it is strung: 60# on a lockout
Your regular string set up: Wilson Ripspin 15g @ 60#
String pattern of your racquet: 16 x 16 (Prince Tour 100T ESP)
Power (or lack there of): Medium/High powered
Feel: Average
Tension maintenance: My only measurement was 21.4% tension loss on RacquetTune before I cut it out.
Price: $10/set
General: I'm not a fan of twisted strings in general and this was no exception.
Serve/Return of Serve: Serves had decent pop and spin. Returns were erratic.
Strokes: I just did not feel confident using this string. It was too unpredictable for my liking.
Volleys: Average for a poly.
Touch shots: Average for a poly.
Softness: Average for a poly.

if was just offered two new exo3 tour today at a very good price and was wondering what worked best for you in that frame ? I´m pretty tempted to try these out first. Did you test the tour bite, yptp in the exo3 frame. Would a full bed of ripspin 15L offer similar spin and would you consider the exo3 more comfortable than the esp ?

Black 5 Edge mains with Genesis Thunder Blast crosses at 52/56 on a lockout was my setup on the Exos. I probably should get rid of my Exos at this point since I have not touched them all year. The Exos are more flexible but the open pattern of ESP I think gives it slight edge in comfort.
Not yet. Next up I'll try the 16g.

no ink, not that I could see, hte black is more a grey carbon colour (anthracite?)... but 4 hrs play yesterday left me with sore elbow, oh no...

This one is a smooth poly and is very easy to string up with the slippery coating. It does have some coil memory but nothing too problematic.
Tension it is strung: 60# on a lockout

Power (or lack there of): Low/Medium powered
Feel: Very good on touch shots for a poly

General: This string seems like it was specifically designed for the new wave of ultra open pattern rackets and worked very well for me.
Serve/Return of Serve: I was able to get velocity on my first serve and good spin on the second. Some days I felt like I could not miss a return of serve which is my biggest weakness.
Strokes: Great spin on both wings. Depth control is excellent, most of the balls seem to want to land just inside the baseline [mishits go short
] Slice backhands seem to like this string as well.
Volleys: Really good up at net, one of the best full poly setups.
Touch shots: Top 3 for droppers and drop volleys. Really good for full poly.
Softness: Even though the string is 15g, it feels fairly soft for a poly. No arm issues that I could blame on the string.
Tension: 60# seems about perfect.
Durability: I must have played at least 12 sets of singles before I cut it out. Looking at the string carcass, the notching in the worst areas on the main were only halfway through the string so it probably would have lasted a whole lot longer.
Movement: Very little string movement at least at the 60# of tension. After about 6 hours, a few mains get a little out of place but nothing major.
Color: I like the pearl white color. Hey, white matches everything.
Conclusion: This is a really good setup for open pattered frames and one of my favorites overall.

Hey Mikeler, based on your findings with the ESP frame and Ripspin 15L, do you think the 1.30 gauge would be a good fit for a 16x18 BLX racquet?
My other option is ISO black fire or the 1.27 Prince XC. I am currently leaning towards putting the latter on a 6.1 95S and sticking with either ripspin or black fire for the 16x18.

Copy/paste mistake.
I tried out XC 15L again today. This time it was the yellow version. I think I slightly prefer Ripspin 16 over 15. Once I see how long the 16 lasts, I'll pick between the two of them as my goto string.

This was a very easy one to string. It reminded me of a stiff multi while stringing and even exhibited ghosting.
Tension it is strung: 60# on a lockout

General: I was not expecting much from this poly at the price but I could see where it might work for some people.
Serve/Return of Serve: Very nice pace on the serve but not much spin. Returns were about average.
Strokes: Lack of spin is what would keep me from using this string. When I use poly, I want spin plain and simple. Power is good though when needed.
Volleys: Drop volleys were good but regular volleys were not clicking for me.
Touch shots: Drop shots seemed about average for full poly.
Softness: This one seemed very soft to me compared to the rest of the pack I've tried.

Durability: I was about 4 sets of singles and 4 sets of doubles into it when I decided that this string did not excite me enough to play with it anymore. The worst worn areas were 3/4 notched, so I think it was getting close to breakage.
Movement: Excessive string movement. From the very first hit, I noticed strings got of place and stayed out of place much like a multifilament string. This frame seems to be heavily dependent on snap back for spin and it was very lackluster in the spin department.
Color: I really liked the see through string.
Conclusion: This is a decent string for the money but I only think players who like to hit lower flatter balls would do well with it. The string movement will drive most tennis players crazy.

I tried Kirschbaum Black Spiky Shark 16 on my Tour 98 ESP at 58 lbs. I was pleased with how it played. The spin is exceptional, the pocketing is good, and feel is nice for a poly.
It held tension well for a poly, but since it broke after only 4 hours of play, I didn't get to see how it played over a long duration. I don't think it was a premature break either because the mains were severely notched.
It's not a comfort poly. It's about as stiff as Proline X. I didn't experience any elbow pain, but I did feel some numbness in my hand, and after a long match I would feel the effects the next day when typing on a keyboard. I take it as a sign that it's probably not a good string for me to use long term.
At only $24 for a pack of 4, this string is a bargain for anyone looking for a shaped poly with plenty of spin, and who has a racquet that doesn't eat strings as quickly as mine. For playability, I can't ask for much more. Durability and comfort could be better. A hybrid with a syngut cross could be interesting, but for now I'll probably be trying other full poly setups first.

Along with Josh Harvey-Clemons who was kicked off the team for smoking pot. Matthews and Harvey were the two safties that both tried to catch the ball, when Harvey-Clemons atttempted to buttrape Matthews.
Maybe they will both transfer to Auburn like Nick Marshall who threw the game winning touchdown against his former team. painful to watch that. Especially with a bunch of Auburn friends blowing up my phone.

Agree with everything, I found Proline to play firmer, without any hints to the level of power, but then again, the strings I was using were 1.25 for the Spiky Shark and 1.30 for the Proline.. Comfort level was not bad with the former for me, although playability duration was average. It helps to put these strings on tighter patterns, when you can string low and the strain on the string is in principle less.

I traded away my sets of ZX. I just think it will feel too soft in my frames.
In other news, B5E/Tour XC was very controlled. Playing on damp clay, I would have liked some more free power.

I'm done testing polys for now. I just ordered some shoes from TW and snooped around for strings but found nothing that piqued my interest enough to take advantage of the free shipping.

Well, RipSpin 15 lasted about 4 times as long as Cyber Flash 15 and it would have lasted even longer had I not cut it out. RipSpin is crisper and seems to have a little bit better control. Cyber Flash is like Solinco Tour Bite Soft. I guess you could best describe it as a metallic like poly. It's OK but I guess I like the more plasticky polys.

I've seen people refer to stiffness ratings for strings, is there a site I can find those? I found some ones from like 2010, but I'm looking to compare stiffness ratings of 2 newer strings (Dunlop Juice and Ice)

About the same for both. I'd say Cyber Flash might be a little more comfortable while RipSpin probably has a little more spin.

The only one I cut out due to harshness was the Prince Tour XS. Everything else felt comfortable or at least tolerable.

I've had a sensitive elbow for too long but recently while using Head Hawk it cleared up, came back agin for whatever reason and while I am using Ripspin right now it is ok.
I know you don't have an answer for this but co-poly seems to be being ok comfort-wise - hence this thread!

hope I´m not asking to much, but would you by any chance be able to list the polys you have tried in the esp by comfort and spin ?
I´m seriously considering the 100t esp, but have a history of shoulder problems . I´ve been playing the rebel 98 with yptp for a year now with no problems at all.
Even the yptp 1,3 in the 16/20 rebel holds maximum 3-4 hours at 22 kg indoors, so the ideal set up for me seems to be ripspin 15 on the esp. for the comming clay season.

Even the yptp 1,3 in the 16/20 rebel holds maximum 3-4 hours at 22 kg indoors, so the ideal set up for me seems to be ripspin 15 on the esp. for the comming clay season.

The strings have gotten a little softer but the 100T ESP is probably the biggest factor.
Have you tried it out yet?
I might get around to putting a top 3 list like I did in my multis thread. If you go with the 100T ESP, I suggest you try Wilson RipSpin 15 and Prince Tour XC 15 first.

1.35mm I think for the Wilson. The 1.30mm broke just a little sooner than I would have liked.

I got Prestige IG Pro with B5E/ThB (black) and liked it overall.
Since I like playing aggressively and go to the net at every opportunity I have, I'm thinking about trying Discho Iontec (salmon or black)/ThB or just go for pvaudio's best Scorpion/ThB.
Please, tell me if you think that combo Iontec/Thb would be any good.
Did you try Iontec Black or only Salmon?
I'm planing to buy reels, because It's hard to get Genesis and Disho without paying the delivery here in Europe.
