Ohio State limps to a 4-3 win over a very average Tulsa team. Buckeyes have been very pedestrian lately and have some serious concerns that need fixing. Pollanen is getting wiped out at 2 and Diaz is still playing over his head at 3. Kobelt hasn't been as crisp lately and even the bottom 3 hasn't been as dominant. They might as well put Kobelt/Metka back at 1 dubs.

They are almost giving away 2 & 3 singles every week (in every competitive match anyway). That puts an awful lot of pressure on everyone else.

Mateus Silva has been beast at 6 for Purdue. He's 14-1 in the spring with his only lost a 3 setter to Baylor Vince Schneider. Today is his 5th match in a row posting a bagel set and he's done it in 7 of his last 9 matches.

Could be some kind of record for domination in conference play. He's barely losing games in the Big Ten.

Looks like Indiana about to take out Penn State - the state of Indiana has not been kind to Penn State this weekend.

Buckeyes clinched the match with a win at a place many thought was vulnerable.
#2 pollanen gets a straight set win for point #4 and absent 2 upset losses of epic proportions their 9th straight big 10 regular season title.

I had commitments so could not stay much past the doubles. Surprising win although IU was competitive against Purdue so they were always in with a shot.

It would take a bizarre big ten tournament run for IU to be considered for the post season.

Penn State protested the Illinois lineup, due to the Big Ten having a different lineup rule than the ITA/NCAA, and got their 3-4 loss turned into a 4-3 win.

I don't get it. What exactly happened. I've seen plenty of top teams not play their singles in the order of ITA rank. IS that what happened?

Michigan State is hosting at the men's and they do not have webcams.

Northwestern is hosting the women's and they do not have webcams either.

From what I understand, Illinois put Hiltzik in the No. 1 spot even though he had been out for a while for injury. He got smoked in that match while No. Gosea won easy at No. 2. They protested Illinois putting Hiltzik in the number one spot despite his top ten ranking. Some cawkamamy Big Ten loophole ruling allowed Penn State to steal a win they didn't deserve.

if i a am big10 coach or player..i would be 200% motivated to play vs Penn State in the future....

i remember when a lot of forum members discussed why hiltzik played 2 in other matches....and now PSU get the win for Hiltzik playing on #1
what a joke....

bad karma Nittany Lions

1)
Ohio State , barely survived Purdue and Tulsa, whats going on in Columbus??? They are still Top3 in rankings easily..but....
will not lose vs Iowa and Nebraska at home this weekend

2) Illinois , easy win at Iowa & Nebraska , should host a regional, cause will not lose either to Wisconsin or Minnesota this weekend

3) Purdue, nearly put Osu away, crushed Penn State away, interesting games @ Michigan and @ MSU this weekend, will easily reach ncaas

4) Penn State , stole a lost match from Illinois, and bad karma came back on them, losing both to Purdue and surprisingly Indiana
will beat Iowa and Nebraska, will be safe in ncaas; i drop them easily after their 2 recent losses

5) Nwestern, put away Iowa and Nebraska on the road, they ve established themself as a good power in Big10, will go to ncaas, but clearly must avoid losses to Wisconsin and Minnesota

6) Minnesota, back ahead of Michigan after their win vs them, the good wins are missing on them , will not make it, but play at Illinois and Nwestern, win both and you are clearly back in contention (but who believes this?)

7) Michigan, lost at Minnesota and barely survived Wisconsin, their chances are gone now i think,
i ll also drop them now, they play _IU and Purdue at home, maybe a win over Purdue could give them a one last chance?

8.) Nebraska, any chance to make it, best win is maybe the trashing of Indiana...

9.) Indiana, surprised Penn State, but that was their only good win of the season

10) MSU , played a competitive schedule all year, but lost the most of them, barely survived Wisonsin.

11) Wisconsin, lost 2 heartbeaters vs UM and MSU both 3-4 at home, team is not so bad, but they lose and thats just it is, they were missing Wikberg in both ties, clearly could ve won both with him.

12) Iowa, 9 game losing trip...it will be 12 on end of season...sad programm, but against the Level-2-Divison 1 programms they easily win...too many difference in division 1 ncaa tennis, Iowa has not won any Big10 match in 3 YEARS !!! Purdue and PSU were their 2 lonely wins in 2011 !!! what a sad programm since 2010..(in 2010 they went 5-6 or so in Big10 play)

Michigan State on their way to beating Indiana. They waited too late in the year to start plying the tennis they are capable of. Still baffled by that destruction at the hands of Louisville.

Stakhovsky was very frustrated out there today. Maybe it's just me but isn't his record fairly poor lately compared to how it was through the midpoint of the season? He upset some pretty high ranked guys and was at #30 himself today. But then he lost to Iowa's #1, a guy who was 3-10 this year in singles? Not to discredit the guy though, he was hitting the cover off the ball despite hitting less errors. I wonder if Leo was frustrated with how well his opponent was playing, or with his own game. I think it was both, but mostly the latter. He made a lot of poor errors out there. If Penn State wants to live up to their seeding, it looks like the tail end of the lineup is going to have to win more than it has been this season.

If Penn State would not have "won" vs. Illinois, then Penn State, Northwestern, and Purdue would have all been 7-4. How would they have been seeded?

Ohio State signed Hugo Di Feo from Montreal for next year. Di Feo was a top 20 ITF junior

Very solid signing. Would have to imagine (dependent on other incomings) that he'll be playing top 2-3 right away. He appears to have been playing full time for the last couple of years and is already 19 so will be interesting to see what his eligibility situation is.

The higher seeds (NW, Mich, Minn, Mich St) should win tomorrow. On Friday I think NW probably takes out Purdue and it wouldn't be too shocking to see Michigan take out Penn State. Michigan State gave Ohio State a decent match in the regular season so that could be decent on Friday as well assuming Sparty doesn't slip up against Nebraska.

Purdue beat them both so they'd have been seeded highest, then Penn State because they beat NW, and then NW last.

Agreed this is a huge recruit for OSU to add to Pollanen, Goles Babic, Matt Mendez (gray shirt) and Riley Reist.
The Tennis Recruiting site says Hugo is a 2013 graduate, birthdate is April 18, 1995, so just turned 19 and would possibly lose only one year max.
re. where he might play, I am with you in thinking Tucker is hoping he can come in and nail down a spot at the top of the lineup.
Would be a major boost if he could play #1, when Kobelt graduates.
