Off Brand Natty Gut

I am wondering what experiences posters have had with "off brand" natty gut such as the unnamed natty gut being sold on the big site.

I understand it is not going to be of the quality of premium guts but am wondering if there are problems with string breakage during stringing, etc.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Do not use any cheaper than Klip and pacific.
Not worth it. If you are successfully strung, durability is bad.
I am not a string breaker but I broke the string much faster than Klip natural gut.

Been using Global Gut for almost a year as hybrid main with round poly, have used over 7 sets of Global Gut. Stringing it hasn't been a problem for me since I use low tension (48 lb), durability isn't as good as Klip or Pacific Natural Gut (only lasts 15 hours compare to 20-25 hours I get with Klip/Pacific). However I like the way Global Gut plays, very powerful and sweet feeling, since it has less coating than the name brand natural guts. However, I haven't used any "natural gut wholesale" or "chinese made carbon fibre infused natural gut" on eeeeee---bay though.

Generally speaking the cheaper, the less durable. (I repeat "in general").

More importantly (to some people), the cheaper, the shorter "playability life".

The premium NG will maintain large portion of its playability until it pops.

To some people like me, for example, who uses dense(18x20) string pattern,
and (thus) is not a string breaker, premium natural gut works out ideally.

Note: Jury is still out on "premium" quality of Babolat NG with BT7.

Well, I use gut/poly hyrbid, the poly cross is usually dead after 10 hour no matter how good it hold tensions, so there is no point for my natural gut to play well for 30 hours :)

I don't know if agree with the playability factor. If you can get it strung, cheap gut will keeps its playability until all of a sudden it snaps. I've tried the cheap gut and its just not worth it to me. The premo guts are just too nice. They are very easy to string and you don't have to worry about it prematurely or randomly breaking.

Well, it could be all mental. But to me, some of cheaper guts lose juices
and/or stiffens before it snaps compared to original VS.

Note that I'm still using non-BT7 original VS/Tonic or Wilson and
it can last 60+ hours in my case(on 18x20 string bed).

I've posted this in another thread recently, but I'll add my 2 cents here. Previously tried some of Mamba's "premium" gut, as well as checked out some other auction site gut. They were both very similar if not from the same source. Very inconsistent in gauge throughout with some bulges that made it very difficult to string, minimal coating, and though it didn't break on me, my tennis buddies had it snap during the stringing process a few times each. Overall played soft and like you'd expect natural gut to play, with just okay longevity.

A few months ago I picked up a set of Global Gut, and expected it to be the same as the other stuff. But to be honest, it was much better. Not sure if I just got a good set or what, but it was much more consistent throughout, so stringing was way easier. Also had more coating (I purchased the black, not sure if that makes a difference) more akin premium guts. And it played great and lasted much longer. It lasted well over 20 hours with poly crosses in my Exo3 Tour 16x18 which is a string eater. Sure it's not quite Babolat VS, but if it's this consistently good and not just luck of getting a good set, then for the price it's worth it if you string for yourself. The other stuff, not so much, because of the headache of stringing and the fact that it was breaking. I have two more sets on the way, so I'll see how compares to previous set I had bought.

I bought my 30 sets of Global Gut last year after trying 2 sets and find them to be really great, no breakage during stringing whatsoever maybe because I was careful. The playability of the Global Gut is what I like the most, it has so much power ! The feel is slightly better than name brand guts (subjective) because of less coating, which causes it to be more springy than for instance BT7 Babolat VS. I've used 7 sets so far and still love it as much as first time i tried it. I am glad I got at least 4-5 years of supply of natural gut for such low price.

From your signature, it looks like you use 48 lbs for global gut.

I go as high as 68 with original VS. I don't think Global gut was as durable at
high tension a few years ago when I tried it.

Yeah, Global Gut probably will probably break during stringing often above 60 lb.
