Somewhat related in the overhyped American category, Ryan Harrison just qualified for Wimbly

Not overhyped, just doesn't have enough peers making a ripple. Americans need someone to embrace. Hope he does well.

How does he match up against Young?

Speaking of Americans making a ripple, Sam Querrey is into the semis at Eastborne, his first semi since last august.

Plays winner of Fe Lopez and Chardy, currently in rain delay. Lopez has played well and might be a bit fatigued, esp if he has to play back to back matches tmrw.

Go Sam!

Speaking of young Americans, is team CA in the UK???

Why would Lopez play again this week, with Wimbledon right around the corner and going all the way to the final in Queens last week? I swear, some of the scheduling choices of certain players just leave me baffled.

Easier to win at Eastbourne than at majors. He gets 90 points at Wimbledon making the 3R, he can get to the semis easily and get the same 90 expending less than half the effort.

Hope Chardy or Lopez win over Sam. His game is so boring as compared to the flamboyance of the other two.

I thought this myself, and a friend was like "Oh, he's very fit; all of Team Spain is." I was like "Mmmmkay."

Meanwhile, Ferru just got cleared to go back to London after a nasty bout with the flu, and Nico Almagro is out because of his foot.

Favorite surface and best 2 of 3 on the easiest surface for your body to recover...it's not all bad to keep playing if he's up for it.

Donald has got a decent looking Wimbledon draw. He is in Murray's quarter and will have to beat some players ranked above him, but he could make some noise.

All depends on which Donald shows up.

I thought u were hitting with him?? Isnt that what u said before/during the French??

I played with him twice the week before french.... that was it.

The whole week and a half Donald came back from clay courts, he played with juniors.

Ironic because when he prepares with actual pros he goes to the 3rd round on his worst surface.

Then loses 1st round of wimbeldon, when preparing with juniors.

His mom cares more about his confidence during practice, then actually being pushed.

Thread bump (from page 7?)...DY bounced @Newport 1R in straights by Groth. Poor showing on grass in '14 from boys Wimby'07 champion.

Groth would have been a bad draw for anyone on grass. He just qualified at Wimby. Not to mention his size, serve, and style of play.

Groth is grooved right now...his loss to Kyrgios in the Nottingham Challenger final prior to Wimby was in 2 TBs, then he won his three qualie matches for the Wimby main draw spot before losing to Dog 1R 5-7, 6-7, 6-7. He's tough when he's on but DY is significantly higher ranked and should at least win a set.

Nadal was ranked significantly than Kyrgios, he still lost.

Groth is about 6'4", has a dominating serve, which helps a lot on grass. He also comes forward a lot.

DY is about 5'9", does not have a dominating serve, does not comes forward a lot.

The matchup on grass favors Groth, who won again today, BTW. He plays Mahut in the qtrs.

Bottom line...he played three grass tourneys and advanced to 2R once, losing all his matches in straight sets. He needed to do a bit better to keep the little bit of momentum he gained @RG. It's a rollercoaster ride for the guy right now. Hopefully, getting home to Atlanta (I'm assuming he plays there) will jump start the NA HC swing. He needs it.

Grass definitely isnt his strongest surface. His serve doesnt get him enough free pts, IMO. He's doesnt hit as hard as a Nishikori, or Dolgopolov, even tho they're about the same size.

BTW, Groth is in the semis with a straight set win over Mahut. Should Mahut have won at least a set as well??

Good on Groth...a tough 1R draw @Wimby vs Dog (losing 2TBs) away from having a great grass summer. DY could have dented that obviously...the 1st set had to include at least one set point in the TB, losing 7-9. That was my point.

Embarrassing result from DY against Dudi Sela as Dudi wins 6-3 6-0. Back to the drawing board again....

Israeli bagels are the real thing! Astounding he could out that flat in front of the home crowd.

Let's hope Ginepri represents the ATL a little better vs Staks.

Donald will never be a top 40 consistent player. If he hasn't figured out how to fix his game by now, it will never be fixed.

Guessing only practicing with Juniors is not paying off for DY, very disappointing he is always 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.

What is with this? Is he afraid to challenge himself or something? Is he the kind of guy who practices with juniors so he always feels like he's the better player.

Does anyone have a photo of Donald standing next to Dudi from yesterday's match? I bet they're closer in height than Donald would like us to know.

Young entered with a 2-1 career edge against Sela, including a 6-1, 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 win on clay at the French Open in the spring. Yet Young has lost in Atlanta's first round in 2011, '12 and '14, and did not survive qualifying in '13.

"It was pretty bad," he said. "I haven't had good results at all at home. Maybe there are too many people who I know around and things pulling me for tickets and a bunch of other stuff."

Yeah having an entourage hanging onto you constantly and being a diva does not help you make it on the tour, time for the DY to find some mental toughness before he falls flat again
