Tennis in Paris?

Hey guys so im heading to paris this may 26 for Roland Garros. Hoping to play tennis as well not just watch, Any of you know where i can find public courts? I tried checking the web but im hoping to hear from some first hand experiences here! any one tried playing in paris? Thanks guys!:)

I might go as well, maybe we can do a concerted effort! What is ur level? Im about 5.0 (france 15.1)

when i was living in paris i remember using a website where you can book a court for 1 hour anywhere in town, i 'll try to find which website it is and will get back to you.


edit : it's here http://t22-srtm-0171717070.paris.fr/srtm/jsp/web/index.jsp looks like everything is in french :lol: you have to registrer and book the court you want, of course the courts don't stay available long, you have to be quick to book... i think it's 6 days before or something

Thats the spirit! :) However i think i will only go if im sure i can also play some competitive tennis, so lets hope that a few more guys are interested so that we can all play some competitive tennis together.

Just FYI - the courts at Pailleron in the 19th are HIDDEN GEMS!!!!! when we stay in Paris we make the metro ride all the way from the 16th to hit on them (kinda tradition) at least once. They are VERY hard to find as the "park" is hidden but they are some of the last of the red clay public courts.

I had a 0 ranking last summer and will be in Rome for the open then Paris ......my son has a tourney in Italy and then France leading into RG. we will be in town as well for all of RG - our apartment is in the 16th and we are members of the Racing Club.......send me an email and if schedule allows maybe try to set up some hitting.

Great info Gavna! :) Ill definetely send u an email, would be great to meet up for some hitting! Sounds awesome that u are able to travel with ur son for his tournaments and combine it with watching RG and Rome Masters. Is he a junior or does he play futures?

Maybe u have seen that Ash and I plan on meeting up in Rome during the masters and play at his hotel, could be fun if u and ur son were able to come too!

I live in France part of the year just outside Geneva. Really a nice location and also a transport hub. Flights from Gva to Rome and Paris with easyjet are supercheap. I didnt buy tickets for RG this year but might fly from Rome to Paris for the quali week and/or first week where it is easy to get tickets despite.

I'm also thinking about heading to Paris. I might make it to RG, but it most likely won't go until mid summer. When I go to Europe I usually try to find a private club and hire a pro to play some sets. It's too complicated to find someone to hit when traveling and I have been able to play some good tennis on nice courts that way. Are there any clubs in central Paris where I could do this? I'd also really prefer to play on red clay as we have zero red clay courts where I live. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like a great life style! Even more so when u can do this dispite having a family and, i assume, have to make some money! Very enviable! :twisted: "God" willing ill do that myself one day!

Why dont u like the USTA? I can imagine many reasons not to like tennis federations and organisations and large non-profit organisations in general but im not familiar with the USTA.

Hey guys who can hit with me in Paris? come on i promise to pay 50Euros for an hour of hitting if you want!!! i just really wanna play and have a try at playing in cooler weather ( live in the philippines so its basically hot everyday)

A quick question but about junior training in Paris. If you were moving to Paris and have a junior player who is very serious and trains a lot, where would be the best place for him to train? Obviously there is that Mouratoglou Academy, but surely that can't be the only one.

I loved my time in Paris for a week last month.

Registering for an ID number and booking public courts is easy via this website: https://teleservices.paris.fr/srtm/deconnexionAccueil.action

You can always use Google Translate if you don't know French.

I stayed very close to Centre Sportif Suzanne Lenglen so it was very convenient just to walk up there.

I paid local tariff which is 4.5 euro per hour. Perhaps they thought I was local because I speak French quite well. Tourists usually pay the full price which is 7.5 euro per hour.

Sorry I didn't take any photo of the complex, but I did play everyday there on the open courts which are red synthetic clay (they needed more sands on them, but still nice to play on). The ones I used are courts number 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

You can use the hitting / practice wall for free.

Generally the courts are well maintained. I always saw gardeners and cleaners there. The place was lush and green, full of trees and quiet. I did not use the indoor courts as it was summer time. A lot of people running along the running tracks in the complex there. Actually it is a beautiful place.

It is an old place but it is still in working order. There wasn't any drinking water fountain but you can use the tap water in the washbasin of the toilet area across the reception, or just bring your own drink and snacks. I didn't see any drink or snack vending machines. I am too spoiled --where I live I have good tennis club, pro shop/cafetaria and drinking water fountains are everywhere.

I saw an indoor tennis court building at Suzanne Lenglen Centre. The building looks like it is made of wood and big glass windows, located near the reception building.
