Racquet that plays like the Dunlop Biomimetic 300

Hey Everyone

After demo-ing many racquets, determined to get something more versatile and softer than my AeroPro Drive GT, I found the Dunlop Biomimetic 300. I really like this racquet. The pros definitely outweigh the cons...except for one....the sweet spot of this racquet feels like it is the size of a postage stamp and any hits just outside of it are pretty muted. I am not good enough to hit consistently in this smaller sweet spot so I find I am getting some real varying result in depth of my shots.

So my question, does anyone know of a racquet that has a 100 sq inch head size, with a more ample sweet spot that plays very very close to the 300?

Most players would say a couple of windings of 1/4" lead tape at 10-2 takes away the bite of mishits. Some use more lead tape.
Some players say a bigger grip takes away some of the twisting of mishits.
I'm a proponent of really lightweight rackets, like the Aero500 with a SW of 308.
My Bio300T needs the first suggestion to match with the 500 stock.

I'm not sure whether dropping a bit of string tension might make the sweet spot feel bigger. I must admit I don't find it too small on mine.

I also added a leather grip to mine to give it more static weight and make it a touch more headlight. I guess it effectively turns it into the Tour version but with a 16x19 pattern and 1 extra square inch.

Ive tried a few rackets and settled on the Bio 300. Its a really nice racket to play with. Plenty of control with more than adequate power once the leather grip is on.


Lee, how are you finding your Bio300 Tour?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I really love the racquet overall, I think for me coming from a 100 sq Babolat to the 98 sq makes that feeling of a smaller sweet spot zone greater. But several reviews have commented on the Dunlop 300 having a smaller sweetspot in comparison to other racquets.

If someone said, try racquet X, it plays very close to the 300 and has a 100 sq inch head size I would be ordering the demo in within seconds! :)

If that racquet isn't out there, I will experiment with some lead at 9-3, 10-2

If you like the 300, give the 400 a demo. It's not exactly like a 300 or 300 Tour, but it's close enough to warrant a demo. I switched to the 400 from a 300 tour. I found the 400 to have just as good of control as the 300Tour (for me) and it was more stable, with a bigger sweetspot. Extremely comfortable racquet too.

Yes, after my second day with the Bio300T, those are excellent suggestions that I should apply ASAP.

If you can handle more weight the Exo Tour 100 18x20 is a soft control stick with a huge sweetspot. Felt sluggish to me but otherwise it would be my stick.

Similar but much lighter is the Blade Team 104 line, 18x19, soft, big sweetspot, pretty good control, a bit more pop than the Dunlop or Prince.

The one which I have found very similar, but slightly more powerful is Biomimetic 300 Plus. They don't stuck it here, but you can order from the TW Europe.

I think some weight around 10-2 would give enough mass to a 300 to make it solid and playable.
Advantage of that narrow head shape is a quicker swing on serves and forehands, and a flex of 63 or so shouldn't hurt anyone's arm or shoulder.

I am a Dunlop 300 guy and have currently switched to the F3.0 tour from the Bio 300 tour but I also have a few Bio 300's. I agree with the prior posters that some lead at 10:2 is perfect for the regular Bio 300. On the 300 Tour I spread the lead tape from 11-1 and it was what that frame needed. Also, with the very oval frame you may want to drop the cross tension by 3-4 lbs. That seems to open up the sweetspot even a bit more and you have a great control frame with some pop! I could use a full bed of Kirshbaum PL2 and I would string at 55/52 or 54/51. When I use Isospeed Control or Professional Classic I bump it up to 56/53.

Did you mean the f 3.0 tour where you spread the lead tape from 11-1? Or you meant the old 4d300 tour?

Can you lead up a Bio3 so it's SW is close to 320, which is about 16 points more than a stock Bio3?
More SW will enlargen the sweetspot, and so does lowering string tension to sub 50's, and increase the grip size.

The Head Liquidmetal Radical Midplus has very similiar specs, try it out and see if you have the same problem.

LMRads have much higher SW, and a stiffer feeling head, while the shaft is very similar in flex. I have two of them.

no, on the old Bio 300 tour is where I used lead. I have been tinkering with the F3.0 tour and trying lead in various areas but have not found the ideal yet. I actually think it plays well stock for 98% of what I need so I may just keep using it without the lead. The F3.0 is pretty powerful and I like it best by stringing it no higher than 56 lbs. Mine are all at 55 lbs. right now with a low powered multi and it is great.

Very very close to 300? That's a tough one. I think your best bet with 300 is adding some lead tape at 12, 3&9 and near the buttcap.

That's the setup I have and it plays consistent, soft and has a big sweetspot. But it is considerably heavier and requires good technique.


If you want a tweener sorta similar to 300 with softer response and bigger sweetspot - Head MG Radical.


Graphine Speed Pro is in between APDgt and 300 - its 100", 67 stiffness, but with some extra heft for stability and bigger sweetspot then 300.

Great info here. I did decide to demo the Dunlop 400 and 400T. I want to see how they play in comparison. Will let you know how it goes.

Have you found a racket that is similar to the BIO 300?

I also had the Bio 300 for couple of years and loved it. It is damaged and I am looking for a new racket. I don't want to buy the same one again (old model).

Looking for similar feel and maneuverability but if possible a 100 square inch head size.

I tried the M3.0 (also 98inch) and didn't like it as much as the 300.

I am currently playing for two weeks with the Head Graphene Speed MP. Nice racket but didn't love it as much as the bio300. It just feels heavier for me (maybe because of the difference in the swingweight?)

I read the spec of the new Babo pure strike 100 and it might work. I didn't try it yet.

For six months I am looking for something like that (I don't want to buy another bio300 and customize it) and still no luck.

I am a 4.0 player in my 40s.

Any help would be appreciated. -Thanks!

The GSpeed MP is a great racquet. What don't you like about it? It's not heavy at all.

Bio300 has a very light SW, around 308 or so, depending on strings, of course.
Head MP is closer to 320, and slightly heavier in SW.
I add 18" of 1/4" lead around the perimeter of my Bio300T's, and they are still too light, compared to a stock 4DAero300. Just no power.
Got to hit with Hank finally. He's really rusty, but when he get's hold of a forehand, it' a rocket like President's. Really cool guy, we'll hit again next week.
Seems nobody has been returning my serves this past week, as I've switched to a full on pistol grip, racket almost aligned with my forearm, getting huge consistency and dropping about 10 mph off the flat first serve speed.
Consistentcy is much more important that a serve that barely peeks into 3 figures.

The Head Prestige S plays similar to Bio300's, but with a 315SW, better, I think.
Also, I picked up a PrinceO3 Red at 27.25" that plays similar to my Bio300T's.
400's would work, but the new one's have higher SW's.
Wilson 6.1's also, and Pro Staffs lights.
Technifiber 315's.
