Prince Textreme 95 Discussion

Seeing as the other thread is bloated with a trivial debate over wristbands, I've started a new thread where we can share our thoughts on anything related to this new racquet that has grabbed our attention lately.

I don't know why that thread hasn't been locked. It was funny for awhile but quickly became ridiculous.

I'm really hoping to demo the textreme 95. The specs, paint job and reviews sure make it look like a winner.

Anyone know when it will be released in Canada? I'm close to losing my patience and just importing it.

I know the TW liked it. It's rare that they give a racquet that is not Wilson Babolat or Head anything close to an 85.

I'm impressed by the specs. What caught me by surprise was reading Tennis.com review of the racket. They said out of the 30 rackets they reviewed for their newest gear guide, it was the ONLY racket with a 95" head. Crazy. goes to show that the "classic" racket may be dying after all.

tried out this frame today. Really liked it. Will play with it for a full week, but I'm thinking this may be my next "everyday" frame. we will see.

I really like it as well. The more I've hit with it the more I've enjoyed it. I personally hope that this stick sells like hotcakes so that the other manufactures will continue to produce these types of sticks.

Once more people try it out, I'd be interested to know if anyone can make comparisons to the following frames:
1. Pacific X Feel Pro 90 Vacuum
2. Pacific X Force Pro
3. Head IG Prestige Mid
4. Redondo 93
5. Dunlop MW200G

All of the above are currently in my bag and have very similar specs.

Plus the Pacific X-Feel Pro 95.

A bit surprised that it didn't come with a thinner beam and still seems quite low-powered.

I've had the IG Pres Mid, Redondo 93 and MW200G at one point and just recently demoed (and returned) the Txt95. The Txt95 swings a little heavier than the IG Pres and Redondo and is on par with the MW200G. I agree with other posters who've said it's firm but comfortable although I wouldn't call it as plush as the IG or Redondo. It's pretty reminiscent of a MW200G but with a higher launch angle. Power wise, all frames are pretty similar in that there's no real free power to be had. Had a couple of 4.5+ hitters try it and remarked that it definitely felt old school where if you missed the sweetspot, you knew it. I wish I had my regular Tour Bite 1.25 at 52 to give it a really good comparison but it had Lux M2 which really dampened the feel too much (mushy would be a good word to use).

I also demoed the last black/yellow version of the Tour 95 and the Txt95 and Tour 95 swung very similar. The big differences are launch angle and court penetration but I think it's more a function of the string pattern than anything else. 18x20 hits a more straight-line ball but definitely penetrates more through the court with a tighter spin where 16x19 is a little loopier.

Potentially over the RF97?

Rf97a wasn't necessarily my "Everyday" frame. I love it because of all the attributes it has, power, stability, spin, control, etc. I also love the feel of it, however, I have been gravitating little by little to flexier frames. I have other racquets in my bag that I currently rotate which include pt57a and h22 both in 16/19 patterns. We will see how this frame does when I stringing it with gut/poly.

Sounds just like me. I had 2 RF97s at one point and have migrated to flexier frames. In addition to the softy frames I mentioned in my above post, I have have 2 Technifibre 315 Ltds. Once I started hitting with the flexy frames, it feels too harsh to use anything else. Plus, I love the nostalgia feeling of equipment I used when I was younger too

My big question is what is the benefit of textreme material for new prince rackets.......

Textreme feels very light but solid.
You feel Textreme Tour 95 swining like a 11oz strung racquet but still feel the solid of 12oz racquet.

I'm thoroughly impressed by its specs and based on the reviews I've been reading, it seems it'll fit my preferences adequately. The mold/shape of the racquet is very attractive to me.

Same here Zurdo^^^^Been loving my X10 mid,With my pb10.for the last few years.I always wanted a 16x19 Redondo,This hopefully will fit the bill.
Love to hear any Gut-poly setups on the 95 to see how delivers some power.
Right now my X10,s are pure power.most powerful mid I've ever used.Im hoping this stick will work.
SOMEone tell the DR.^^we're waiting on his results..hopefully gut mains.4g crosses.this beast will deliverand trade on the baseline, with still a scalpel feel.

I currently using the Blade 98 2015 18x20 and Graphene Speed Pro and wonder if you had a chance to play with either and can provide a comparison.

I think the best feeling racquet I demoed was the Yonex RDX500 98. It was just so perfect. So I saved my money and three months later I went to Swetka and it was gone so I bought the RDS 001 90 and then I bought the VCore Tour 89. I like both of the but I wish they played softer like my Wilson Ceramic 85 from High School. I hope that this Textreme 95 play softer than those Yonexs and more like the Ceramic and RDX 500. I would buy it for sure.

is this better that Tour 95 that Yellow racket that Bryans are using for Doubles ?

Depending on your preference, both racquets are great for control and comfort.

Textreme Tour 95: lighter and solid feel, spin, maneuverability, small sweet spot
Tour 95: plow-through, stability

Are you from the Bay Area?

I had the RDX500MP, RDS001MP and VCore Tour 89. The Txt95 isn't as soft feeling as the RDX500MP but it's pretty comfortable. The Txt95 is firm but not overly stiff and the RDX500 was pretty flexy.

I was lucky enough to get to keep one of these from the place for which I write equipment reviews, and it's a fantastic frame for old schoolers. It's what I imagined a PS 85 would play like if it had a slightly wider beam and a larger head size. The control is sublime but you need to be able to produce your own power, no doubt.

How would the tour 95 compare to the prostaff 95? I found the prostaff 95 realllyyyyyyyyyy lower powered, even after adding some lead at 3 and 9.

I just got mine today and will string it up to see how it plays. I love the paint job on the racquet and I like the balance of the racquet so far. Time will tell when I string this up and hit with it tomorrow.

Niiiice. The pj is one of the best I've seen in a long time.

For those that have hit with it is it really flexible? The 60 stiffness rating would indicate that. I like stiffer racquets but TW review did mention it feels firmer than the rating.

Hello, just wondering if you have an update. I love stiff frames but my elbow may need something softer. Currently playing with the PSC 4.2 which is extremely stiff. But I am not in my twenties anymore and my elbow feels it. I am very stubborn about switching and will only switch if the pain becomes really bad. Also recently bought the Pure Drive Tour which I love but may also be too stiff for me. How do you feel the comfort level is on the RF97 which is also on my radar?

My first serious racquet was the Graphite Pro 90. Maybe a move back to Prince is in the cards for me.

I would be interested in a comparison to the PS 95 too. I personally do not find the PS 95 low powered once modified though (it packs a good punch IMO, but then again, I am at around 12.5-12.6 oz with mine haha).

I haven't played with the Tex95 however judging by the specs (60RA average on TW website, 63RA on TWU) I'd guess it will be noticeably softer but not plush like some other 60RA frames.

Think of the difference between a Vcore Tour 97 and Tour 97G. The difference should be more pronounced though.

I had a chance to hit with this racquet for about an hour. I strung it up with Head Hawk Touch at 52lbs and then realize that even though it's not a 16x19 string pattern, the smaller head size makes the string pattern a little tighter.

This was noticeable when hitting a ball. It's not really a open string pattern at least not like it is when you have it on a 98 or 100 sq in. racquet.

The racquet is rated at 60 stiffness but I didn't feel that softness compared to the Exo Tour racquet. I would say it's neither harsh or stiff but it definitely is more of a firm crisp feel to the racquet. It's not a plush and flexible racquet and the dwell time on the strings isn't as good as my current 2015 Blade 98 18x20 racquet.

For ground strokes, it hits a pretty solid ball and you can feel the impact of the ball on your string bed. It definitely is more crisp and firm feel to the racquet and nothing like the more flexible Prince Exo3 Tour line.

After adding the strings, dampener, and over grip, the racquet came out to 12.15oz.

Once the string bed has a little more time to bring in and another few hours on the court, I will be able to provide insight.

I played with the PS97 for a while but developed elbow issues. So i started looking for less stifffer frames. The (yellow) Tour 95 (RA 58) felt pretty good and you could definitely feel the plushness and the flexible feeling and was much more comfortable for my arms. I tried the Textreme Tour 95 as the RA rating was 60 but it doesn't feel remotely as flexible as the (yellow) Tour 95. The racquet though is beautifully balanced, the feel is crisp, stable. I ended up getting the Textreme Tour 95 but my arms aren't as happy as they were with the (yellow) Tour 95.

Okay so I am not the only one who feels this racquet is more on the crisp and firm side even though the RA is 60. This definitely feels like a different Prince racquet given most Prince racquets have a more plush feel to them.

It hits like a PS 95 but with a bit more stability but definitely feel the same hollowness of the PS 95.

Say hello to Textreme! Your comments remind me of the Pacific X Feel/Force feel. Low RA but a crisp feel from the basalt.

Hollowness? Relative to what?

Hollowness? Relative to what?

Compared to my current 2015 Blade 18x20 racquet. I think it's because the box beam design is slightly wider and maybe the way they design the layup of the racquet. It looks like a Pro Staff 95 but with a thicker beam all around.

Can anyone compare this to Dunlop 200 lite?
Specs are very similar with the 200 lite having a lower swingweight (and slightly lower static weight)

I have the old Tour 95 and an RF97 (as well as the PS97). I haven't had the chance to try the new TexTour 95. The old Tour 95 is more comfortable than the RF97, but not by a huge margin. The mass of the RF97 helps offset the stiffness. The Tour 95 is much less powerful and also less work to wield than the RF97 -- I would consider that more than the comfort when deciding between the two.

Surprising to know the yellow/black tour 95 is only marginally more comfortable than the RF97.

The specs on the tour 95=
Strung Weight: 12.1oz
Swingweight: 329
Stiffness: 58

RF97=
Strung Weight: 12.6oz
Swingweight: 335
Stiffness: 68

They are some what close other than the stiffness being a huge gap of 10 points difference with the RF97 being the stiffer frame. I know the RF97 is a beast, but yet the Tour 95 isn't a light frame when comparing the specs from TW's description pages.

The stringbed in the Textreme 95 is more lively, but lacks the plowthrough of the previous Tour 95. As such, they kind of balance out in comparison.

Anyone tried Gut,mains poly crosses.lower tensions?..
Thats my usual setup on my X10 mids.
Wondering if the95 CN handle heavy baseline exchanges, and bring some needed power.
Thanks

I play with both X10 Mid (12.2oz) and Tex 95 (12oz).
X10 Mid has much bigger sweet spot even though it has smaller head size than Tex 95.
Two things I don't like for Tex 95: small sweet spot & vibration feel when hitting outside sweet spot due to my tennis elbow.
Go for Text 95 if you need light and solid feel.
Go for X10 Mid if you need plowthrough and power.
