Why are people freaking so much about Rafa not using the retail version? He hasn't for years, and as for Federer...

Because people on here are fanatics. I think they somehow think it takes away from the retail version because Fed and Nadal don't wear the exact gear that's for sale.

I love that we all spot these details. I hate how it's overblown into "The shoes suck so much that Rafa and Fed won't wear them!" ...and every season, a bunch of us end up buying the shoes because they perform meet most of our needs.

Notice how those who are making a big deal out of it and keep on reposting the same picture have a green username :)

Too bad Nike doesn't just use the same tongue on Rafa's shoes for the commercial shoes. The short tongue is not something I like...

Yeah, that white/blue/red color scheme looks awesome. They really should sell CB 4.3 in that color.

They are quite similar to the Olympics "white/red/black" CB.
People who like the AO colorway could try to buy the Olympics one.

That ones nice as well, but that blue used for the swoosh and shoe string in the current model is just so exquisite.

Yeah I know, I know :)
Maybe with navy or black laces it would make the illusion much better.
Anyway it's still a good option as soon as you can't get the AO one.

Just an observation, but notice how differently Roger and Rafa's shoes are made looking from the back of the shoe. The rearfoot is more supinated (turning their heels outward), whereas in the retail versions the rearfoot is pronated (turning your heel inward). I used to think this was due to orthotics worn, but looking at actual pictures of the shoes its clear these are custom modifications.

T21D these are sick!

We have to talk.. :)

I thought they were a run of the mill shoes with the labeling and trophy. But I have the orange cw, and noticed big differnces when I put them side by side. Note- Stan is a size US10.5 and I happen to wear the same size in Yonex.
1. Weight- his are much lighter, even when I took off my stock insole.
2. Beefy padding and higher cut around the ankle/achilles. I'm assuming for protection and torque.
3. The outsole is a quarter inch more, added cushion, than the general release.
4. The overall feel of the shoe feels like it hugs your feet as opposed to the store bought version, I have to cinch up the laces to get a nice fit.

rafa's socks

Has it been discussed before? Why can't Nike seem to make Rafa a pair of socks where the heel seam meets his actual heel? That cat is constantly wearing socks where the heel is sticking out the top of the shoe. Unless he's wearing socks meant for Delpo or something, it makes no sense....

Probably just pulls them too tight due to OCD behavior.
