Ever Been To Spain?

I'm one up on Three Dog Night who famously claimed the had never been to Spain.

I spent only one day in Barcelona before taking an overnight ferry to Mallorca and then on to Ibiza. Very nice islands! Ibiza was a blast...much nightlife after long days on the beach.:)

When I visited, Franco was still in control. It was a little scary seeing Guardia Civil everywhere, armed with machine guns as they patrolled the sidewalks.

I listened to a fair bit of Santana as a kid ... if that counts.

..

Segovia, si! Santana, no!

I saw both guitar legends during my short six months in London. Carlos was with John McLaughlin and The Mahavishnu Orchestra. Segovia rocked solo...you could hear a pin drop in the audience, such was the respect for The Maestro of the fretboard!

It's a beautiful place, at least from the pics i see, the sea, the sun, spicy food, women who are easy on the eye. And tennis.

Would love to move there, if i could.

It would be great to visit Spain, particularly Calareuga (sp?). The St. James pilgrimage trek is appealing, but I'd fashion one on St. Dominic's travels.

Unfortunately, the one truly Spanish person I met was a very pert, very attractive young woman who was fascinated with her own drug addictions. She rang up an enormous phone bill for me, and then disappeared.

So. . . not a good impression from that.

Spent about 3 weeks traveling around, it's a great place to visit. Loved The trip. Didn't go to the islands, it was over the Christmas holidays.

I've been several times on holiday.

Alcudia.
Gran Canria/Canary islands.
Fuengirola.
Barcelona to visit Camp Nou.
Ibiza, twice back in the clubbing days.

Been to BCN and MAD - for both tournaments. BCN is one of my favorite cities - weather a lot like So Cal. Incredible architecture. Great food. MAD is very nice too. The Caja Magica is a great venue. The Retiro park.

Thinking about going to the Valencia ATP 500 in 2015.

beautiful country. beautiful people. affordable everything. amazing culture. I really like to go to spain because the people never seem to be intent on taking advantage of tourists - unlike many other (destinations) countries out there.

Lived there almost 3 years while in the U.S. Navy a while back, a year single and 2 years with a young wife (son was born there). Went all over southern Spain back then - Sevilla, Cadiz, Jerez, Puerto de Santa Maria, Rota, Ronda, Torremolinos, Alteciras, Cordoba. Went back for our 25th anniversary and spent most of our time in Sevilla, Madrid, Granada, and Barcelona, which to me is the grandest city I've ever visited.

On several occassions, inland (Madrid, Seville, Toledo, Granada, etc.), coastal (Costa del Sol, Barcelona)and islands (Mallorca). Lovely country, fine sherry.

I've been to lots of cities in the world and for me, nothing comes close to what Barcelona is. It's simply fantastic.

What area is easiest to find players to hit with in Spain?

Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia , Mallorca or Gran Canaria??

Best city or place in Spain for finding tennis on clay and someone to hit with??

Spain is a very proud tennis country. It's rather assumptive of you to think you can show up there and have someone waiting to hit with you. At the very least, you need to post a video of you playing. You should also include a personal recommedation from any former world #1's you may have hit with. Then it will be judged whether or not you are worthy of hitting with an actual Spaniard in Spain.

Unfortunately I had to go with my family one time. The weather is nice but pickpockets and the poor cuisines are not to my liking. Not to mention the owner of the hotel was an absolute tool. Never going to Spain ever again.

I think I went to some amusement park in Spain with some dragon ride or something, keeping in mind I was a kid at the time, not even the amusement park could save that holiday. Way too boring.

People are better off going to Amsterdam.

"Tennis??....are we talking tennis?!!"

I figured something more along these lines:

Amazingly, during a chrischris Global Warming Thread, a tennis conversation broke out. chrischris, apparently fresh out of Bartelby's Finishing School, gracelessly rebuffed mikeler's amiable offer to meet up and hit this summer during the latter's trans-Atlantic journey to Germany. Never mind the pleasant opportunity to welcome and hit with a fellow TT contributor who's appetite for good bräu may only be eclipsed by his appetite for different string set-ups, chrischris demanded mikeler post a video of himself playing for proof that he may be "worthy" of hitting with TT's resident climatologist. To further boost his his "elite" pedigree, chrischris has claimed to have hit with a (nameless) "former world #1". Number One what, we don't know...

Spent two weeks in Salou in 2013, enjoyed it but it was bit touristy. Also went to Barcelona for the day, saw Camp Nou, Las Ramblas and the fountains.

Believe it or not I have been living in the Southern most tip of this great country for most of the last year, on the Costa de la Luz.

Venga!
