Volkl Organix X10 Mid

Hi
Just purchased one, its specs were tempting. Initially tried poly/syn gut at 50/48 lbs, way underpowered.
Tried at 43/41 lbs, still underpowered. Significantly, especially compared to my Dunlop 4D Aerogel 200 Tours. Not sure why. On paper, it should be a lot better than it performs on court.

Just got one. Strung, overgrip and dampener it came in at 12.7 oz. Does that seem a bit too high given it's supposed to only be 11.8 strung.

After 4 years with the PB 10 MID....

Just picked up an X10 MID due to the great deal at TW. Strung with Cyclone 17 at 51 lbs (also a great deal at only $3.99). Replaced grip with Volkl leather, just like my PB 10 MIDs. Initial impression was a much higher swing weight.

Had my first hit last night. Two hours with 4.5 hitting partner. Wow! This is what I've been missing by using the PB 10 for the past 4 years....

Pros: More power, way more stability, off center hits stay in play (unlike the PB 10), holds up well against heavy shots, volleys like a dream.

Cons: Less feel than the PB 10 Mid

Overall: This racquet feels much firmer on contact than the PB 10 Mid, but still easy on the arm. Increased swing weight was not a problem on the court. A better racquet when on defense than the PB 10 Mid, since more forgiving and powerful during off-center contacts.

I just ordered two more of these. Farewell PB 10 MIDs.

Mine was 12.3 out of the box strung....no overgrip or damper. It was a little too heavy for me. If it was closer to the quoted 11.8oz I would have liked it better. Really liked a lot of the racquet, but got too heavy for me in long matches, so ended up selling it recently; I'm currently using the Yonex Tour 89, swings through the air quicker, but I do miss the comfort and feel at net of the X10 Mid.

Finally got around to hitting with the Organix 10 Mid. Had it strung with Volkl classic synthetic gut 16 at 40 lb. I've been playing with it for some weeks now to give a fair assessment. Whoa where to begin on this one. First off, love the paint job of it, mostly black with some yellow and white, very cool. The shape/mould of the racquet itself is very attractive to me. Again, I'm fond of the grip shape, it's a bit more rectangular which nestles comfortably in my eastern forehand grip. The response from the racquet was very good, more so than I expected, agree with others here, it felt powerful for a mid with lots of pop. It did feel a tad firmer (not as smooth) than my PB 10 Mid but that didn't throw me off. Comfortable, superbly stable, and surprisingly forgiving; it felt more or so like a mid plus. I was enthralled with heavy hitting, exchanging powerful forehands, backhands. I think I may like it a little bit more on groundstrokes than my PB 10 Mid. Just as with the groundstrokes, it had nice pop on volleys and was stable on heavy paced shots. On serve, for me initially, it didn't come around faster than my PB 10 but I was still able to hit some heavy serves. I thoroughly enjoyed slicing with this one, as I like to slice offensively when approaching the net. While it did feel a tad firmer, it did also have some smoothness to it too. Of course with the crispiness of the synthetic gut, it has an overall crisp response. All in all, a fantastic racquet. It didn't sway me away from my PB10 Mid as overall performance wise I'd have to go with my PB.

Mine came about 12.17 oz (345g) strung; when I my made my modifications, it turned out to be about 13.06 oz (370g). I didn't feel too heavy as I am accustomed to/like heavier racquets. Agree, very comfortable at net.

Very much agree with your overall synopsis, feels a bit firmer compared to the PB 10 Mid but still has some smoothness to it. It definitely is a powerful, forgiving mid.

got a pair strung at 48 lbs one with 17g Cyclone and one with 17g Tour Bite Soft
Thinking will drop down to 42/45 range
Cyclone feels very stiff but Tour Bite feels great.
Racket does swing heavier, but when clean contact so very nice and great for volleys. No dampner used, which is new for myself as I always played with a dampner. Still in honeymoon phase but loving the frames right now.

Was this supposed to be a replacement for the PB10 mid? PB10 mid is still more expensive and looks like Volkl cannot afford to stop producing the PB10 mid, just like the the c10 pros.. It might outlive the x10 mid....?

Yes, it's an update to the PB 10 Mid. Volkl has decided to keep the PB 10 Mid in their classic line-up, just like the V-1 and C10 Pro, hence it's still out in a new cosmetic. The Organix line has been updated with the Super-G's and that probably is why some of the Organix's are on sale with some good prices.
