Looks like the wheels have come completely off of the men's tennis team. They went up to No. 23 Louisville today.

Here were the scores.

Doubles 1: 3-6 (stopped when doubles point was decided)
Doubles 2: 1-8
Doubles 3: 2-8

Singles 1: 1-6, 3-6
Singles 2: 1-6, 2-6
Singles 3: 0-6, 5-7
Singles 4: 2-6, 0-6
Singles 5: 3-6, 4-6
Singles 6: 3-6, 3-6

Horrible. Words cannot describe how bad this team is now. There need to be some changes after this season. If there are not, the school will prove that they care nothing about results.

Miami needs a new coach pronto!!

How about Vallverdu?? Surely his experience with Murray has brought him connections.

Taking a run at Vallverdu at this time would be a wasted effort. He's coaching Berdych now. Hmmm, let's see. Coach Miami and rebuild a once very good program or continue working with a top 10 player less than 1 year into the relationship and possibly coach him to a Grand Slam title?

The sensible approach would be to consult Vallverdu and ask him to help them with the search.

Miami Canes lose their 4th consecutive 0-7 blowout loss. They've won one set in each dual.

They have lost 56 of the last 60 sets they have played.

Words cannot describe this.

The University of Miami hired a new president. He is meeting with the Canes coaches next week. This could be interesting.

"North Carolina's 9th best win is over East Carolina or Miami both of which are ranked below 115 and should be below 125."

HOW???!!! BELOW 125??! Maybe they should join the A-Sun and play teams in Florida at their level.

The A-Sun may be a bit too tough with the Ospreys ruling the conference.

they will get Dane Dunlap out of Canada, he is maybe like a 4*-recruit with tendencies to beeing a 5* (but he is not the 5star-level, slight down of this)

will lose Gonzalez and Tsukamoto. Team is very young, their #1 Lomacki and #2Langmo will get better, need a little more depth and then maybe can compete for some wins next season in ACC.

The Canes men go down to their 5th straight 0-7 loss. They have not won a single dual point since they beat Boston College on March 29. They have dropped 70 of 76 sets since then. The level of ineptitude is indescribable.

They actually took two sets today. Tefel came this close to actually winning his match. This is considered a small victory for the '15 Canes.

It's just painful to watch the 15 'Canes at this point. Season can't end soon enough for them.

LOL You mean like how they actually managed to win two out of six first sets?

True. That's good for them.

well vs Virginia that's not bad for any ACC team really. Lomacki had a lead on Frank in the 1st set too. It would be stunning if Gonzalez held on here vs Altamirano.

Shane must have mailed it in today. Canes' Langmo beats the No. 4 Shane 6-2 in the 3rd for the Canes' meaningless 2nd point of the day.

And now they change the score back to 5-3 so it isn't over.

LOL College tennis sucks donkey balls.

The men's season comes to a merciful ending today. They once again fail to win even a single set in falling to Duke to end their season with a 7-17 record. This was the Canes' 6th losing season since 1977 and worst season ever. They had a couple of 8-13 seasons in '96 and '12 but this season managed to top that. They finish the season unranked for the first time since '96. Also, they have missed the NCAA tournament now for the past four seasons. This could continue for a while unless something drastic happens.

Had some hope for the women's team, but they coughed up a huge hairball today against the No. 10 seed Florida State in the ACC quarterfinals. Just pathetic. Their ranking could take a hit and there is the possibility they won't even host a NCAA regional now.

If this season was a fish, I'd throw it back.

Happy Birthday to former Hurricane and ATP pro Michael Russell! He turns 37 today. He's announced his retirement at the end of the year so good luck to him the rest of the way!

Well, the Miami women hung on to the #15 spot. They will host a regional and face #2 UNC in the round of 16 if they advance to Waco.

Kind of surprised but I guess they will at least make the Sweet Sixteen. I don't see they beating UNC though.

Any news on Rincon's status?

Nothing. The official Canes site just put up his profile on April 22. Here are some things the profile said.

Rincon has been the head coach for UM’s men’s tennis team for 11 seasons, receiving numerous accolades throughout his journey.

But it’s not about the wins and achievements for him.

"He gets to know all of the players,” assistant coach Mark Dickson. “He really understands each one of them. He finds out what makes them tick and what motivates them.”

Freshman Piotr Lomacki even regards Rincon as one of the best people he has ever met.

“When it comes to choosing your coach it’s very important because they will be with you for four years and Coach Rincon is great,” Lomacki said.

This season, Rincon had to coach a very young team, including seven freshmen who brought a different atmosphere to the team.

“They’re really loud. Much louder than any team I’ve ever coached,” Rincon said. “But they’re a great group of guys to work with. I definitely enjoy seeing them improve on a daily basis.”

That's about it. Nothing was said about missing the NCAA tournament for the last four years, for falling completely out of the rankings or being swept 0-7 five matches in a row this year.

Canes women almost let Ole Miss upset them but they squeaked by with a 4-3 win. 10th Straight Sweet Sixteen. I don't give them much chance to advance any further though. They seem to have regressed as the season goes on.

This Miami team should not be that bad in theory. They have two ranked players and Max Andrews used to be ranked earlier in the year. The bottom of the lineup does not look that weak either. The players do have some talent. It's like the past couple of years actually. The players are not untalented. Flores(Gabriel), Aly, Gonzalez etc. These guys were talented players. Not to mention Tsukamoto who hit one of the cleanest balls around in college. But there is just something lacking.

This year it's hard to tell if they are any good because they have played so few matches. They just gave Michigan a decent 4-3 match where they blew the doubles point. Maybe Miami can be a bit of a surprise. Beat a few teams in the ACC and get into the rankings before the year is over.

Watching the replay there was hardly anyone there, considering it was being broadcast. And the Michigan players were much more vocal and active then the Miami. I don't consider Michigan a top team despite their ranking (at least not as good as OSU or UI in the Big 10). They seem more in the leaguer of Penn St or Purdue, Miami should have beaten them. Hasn't the Miami coach been there awhile? Maybe the team lacks some support

Lomacki trying to close out Lock to get the big upset win over FSU. Was up 5-0 and has now lost 2 straight deciding points. 5-2 now.... Lomacki staring to show that fear... Let's see if he can close it out
