New Nike Tennis Bag

I promised I'd share some photos of the new Nike tennis bag we got for our son.

Here’s the undersized drink pocket with two 12-oz Gatorades. This is pretty much the maximum capacity:

Here’s the insulated racquet pocket:

The accessories pocket is ample:

The locker compartment is large enough for shoes on the lower level (I’m still working on my son’s usage of the bag):

And the un-insulated racquet pocket:

I like how the narrow/top end is fairly wide, allowing me to fan out the handles:

We’re constantly reminding our son to stay hydrated, so the undersized pocket on this bag was a concern. I ordered this item:

The open picnic bag is quite spacious compared to the tennis bag’s drink pocket:

I put the picnic bag’s strap underneath, folded the closure flap down the back, and tucked the bag into the tennis bag’s insulated racquet pocket. Although it compresses quite a bit in that space, it should still hold plenty for my son, and the double insulation along with the frozen gel should ensure his drinks stay cool:

Nike issued a full refund for the bag due to the faulty zipper. I have a new replacement on order. :)

Wow, you either got a hold of a sales rep who was having a really really really good day, or Nike really don't give a s***.

Because I'm sure those 4 zipper teeth aren't worth $150... congrats man!

It's only a few months old and I told them the zipper was faulty from the beginning. Good on them for standing behind their products.

Nike promptly issued a full refund, I bought the bag again, and we now have the replacement bag. Very pleased with Nike customer service.

Not really. I just put my clay shoes in a separate shoe bag and throw that in the big middle compartment. Indoor shoes go as is.

Gotcha, thanks. Realizing that in crowded New York, especially in rush hour subway traffic, a medium size bag is just much nicer than hauling a monster around. I like the upright locker aspect to this one. Also thinking of one of the Tecnifibre bags with the separate shoe and wet clothes compartments on both ends of the bag, which I like.

Yes, the size of the Nike bag is still quite manageable. I don't really miss a separate shoe compartment, though a slightly larger drink compartment would be nice, as my 1l Nalgene bottle just fits. And perhaps some additional small pockets for things like keys, phone etc. Overall I think it's probably the best designed tennis specific bag on the market right now. Its strap system is good and it's comfortable to carry.

As for the Tecnifibre bags – I have the Pro ATP Monster and took a look at the 10-pack, one size smaller than the Monster. These are very, very well made bags and not too big. No separate shoe compartment there either, so I take it you're looking at the Team ATP or Tour ATP line, right? I think these are pretty much the same as their older VO2Max bag range, just with different branding. These bags rule! The best strap system of any tennis bag I tried to date (and I tried and still have quite a few) – much better than the straps of the Pro ATP by the way – good size, super comfy to carry and great for cycling with it. I have the red/black 12pack as I prefer bags with three main compartments for their symmetrical layout. Best value all around. Two thumbs up!

Exactly. It's the Tour ATP 12 I'm thinking of, along with the Nike. I like how both fit a good amount of frames without being overly huge bags.

Nike has the upright locker aspect, looks like it's more resistant to water, has climate control. The Tec has two separate compartments on both ends for shoes and wet clothes (big plus for me), doesn't have the climate control (still not sure if this really matters), is cheaper.

Curious if I can make the bottom "shelf" of Nike a shoe compartment without getting things too messy and having enough room for other things. Will be hauling this bag around a lot around New York and putting it through the ringer in terms of dirt/rain/etc, so trying to decide what's best. Thanks for the input, 808.

I think both bags are fairly sturdy and well made, but I'd rate the Nike slightly higher. Making the bottom shelf a shoe compartment as you suggest wouldn't work for me, as I play on clay most of time so things would get messy quick. I use a separate shoe bag and keep smaller items like overgrips in 2 or 3 small pouches (travel stuff from Muji).

Another thing to consider is that the Nike bag keeps its shape even when empty, the Tec not so much.

Oh yeah, does the Tec stretch outward a lot? I'm playing on clay a lot, not always, so if I did the shoe compartment thing with the Nike I'd have a shoe bag in there to keep the clay from getting all over the place, but who knows, maybe the shoe bag wouldn't even be full proof from that happening.

What do you use that very top compartment for? Feel like maybe that'd be a good wet clothes spot?

Yeah, the Tec stretches outward a bit. It needs a couple of rackets inside to hold its shape IMO, when empty it more or less collapses unto itself (not really, but you get the idea). Keep in mind I have the red/black Team ATP bag, not the yellow/black Tour ATP one, though I guess they are more or less the same.

The small compartment on the very top of the Nike bag is rather shallow, I usually keep my phone, keys, club membership card, some tissues and maybe a wristband in there. The pic in the TW product description may make it look bigger than it really is, but it's definitely not intended to be used for wet clothes IMO. You can fit maybe 3 or 4 tennis balls in there, just to give you an idea of its size.

I put my wet clothes in a drawstring bag and store this in the middle compartment. Or just use the right compartment for that if I'm only carrying 2 or 3 frames.

BTW, I use a rather plain Nike shoe bag with zippers. Works fairly well, no clay accidents in the bag so far.

Is there really only 500 of these?

What's the point when Nike could just make for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$????

well that seems a little deceptive on Nike's part
Well, yes, and kinda funny. Anyway, I sent them (the german Nike Store that is) an email to find out wether it is indeed supposed to be a limited edition or whatever. I will let you know if I get an answer.

I ordered one as well because I thought it was super limited to 500. It should be here tomorrow so I will update if its the same 000/500. It would be really silly if that was the case.

To be fair they do not say that it's a limited edition anywhere in the product description... Curious which number you get.

Let us know what the email says. Thanks!
Of course. The automatic reply stated that they (try to) reply wihtin 3 business days, so stay tuned.

Since I gather that most of you won't understand German here's my rough translation of the relevant part:

Thank you for your email to Nike.com. I checked the product information regarding the NIKE COURT TECH 1 SW19 and it is a limited edition. You got the number 000/500 by chance.

Now let's see what zagalab's bag says.

Just got it in and yep, 000/500.
zagalab, could you do me a favor and post a picture of your bag, showing the number? The Nike customer service rep said he could start an investigation provided he had two photos of different bags showing the same number. Thanks!

Can either of you take more photos of your Wimbledon edition bags and post them here? A lot of these product photos don't exactly give much of an impression of how the silver really looks in person. Also, @Snipe , what do people make fun of? That it's big?

It's probably limited edition in the sense that it would be available for purchase beyond like say July 15th or some random date post Wimbledon, but I don't believe for a moment that they only have 500 for sale. You can get this bag on many different online retailers including, but not limited to TW, ******* Sports, The Nike store and **************.

@wt888usa - yeah - basically that it's comically large, even on me at 6'3. Still, I'm a bit of a racketaholic, so it's fun to easily pack 8 rackets, 6 cans of balls, 3 gatorades, shoes, and a change of clothes, and not worry about running out of space.

I also have a friend who gets 40% off Nike everything, so got mine for $90 which helps.

Care to share a few photos? Want to get a sense of how the exterior really looks.

Anybody with a connection at Nike know if the Court Tech 1 with hot lava trim is going to be carried by Nike US? I know TW is slated to get it but I have a Nike voucher to use. Right now it's only in the UK

Not sure, it's a gorgeous bag though. I really like the use of more black on it
