Mikeler's Multis

No X-one is quite unique. Don't worry about strings locking up and moving out of place. That is such a small component of spin generation IMHO.

can you recommend a multi to hybrid with solinco tour bites? People suggested gosen and told me to stay away from multi.

does ZX have more or less power than X-1 biphase or origin ?
Never tried Origin but ZX definitely has less power than X1 in my experience. I have ZX Pro as a full bed in my wet weather setup racquet, and it's got such a unique feel. Crispy like the feel of synthetic gut but very soft on the arm.

ZX looks like 2nd rate product. X-1 and Origin are 1st class strings...so they must be better....... I think

More, but could be I'm fooled by Zyex's drastic tension-loss.

In my opinion Origin has a controllable power. I think Origin is a really good string, stays playable for a long time, keeps tension extremely well, and offers poly-like control. I am very surprised it doesn't get more praise. I like it best in a full bed.
The only downside for me, is that I feel a little disconnected on touch shots.
On groundstrokes and serve: A superb string, at least in my frames.

Pro Supex Maxim Touch 17

I have played with a full bed of this string in 16 gauge for the last couple of weeks and I really, really like it. The feel on touch shots, volleys and slice is wonderful. Strangely, it becomes even better after a few hours. Like it grabs the ball better, and becomes even more comfortable. Needs to be strung in the upper half of the recommended range to be tamed. Easy on the arm, and excellent feel. Recommended for all-court players with tender elbows :)

See Mikeler's review on page 1.

I've put Maxim Touch in a lot of racquets of people who've said, "just give me something nice and soft with good power". Have yet to have a complaint, and in fact, I've hooked quite a few people on it, which is why I keep a few reels on hand. It's not the best multi in my opinion, but for the price, the performance is great.

What's your favorite multi, and why?
Do have any recommendation if I tell you I like the feel of Maxim Touch, but would like a little more control? Thanks :)

Mikeler, my hitting partner has been using PPA for the last 4 years and he loves that string.
However, I only have microfibre 2 in stock (is there a difference anyway between 1 and 2?), so I will be using this string.

Would you recommend the same tension or go up 3 pounds? Microfibre seems a bit softer and more powerfull to me. I'm using a Stringway ML100.

I experienced the main difference between 1 and 2 to be string movement. While 1 has very little movement for a multi, version 2 moves around like any generic multi.

Not really, they feel quite similar. Nice, soft multis with both good power and feel. Microfibre is one of my favorite strings, but string movement was far to much with version 2. I won't buy it again, hate to adjust strings after nearly every rally.

Just bought 5 sets of Babolat Origin from TW. This is much much better more power than Monogut(poor man's X-1 biphase) and Origin seem to have more Power than X-1.

I'm not really sure what you are asking. Are you saying that you only 2 packs of PPA left in stock? The string has been renamed to Prince Premiere Control (PPC) so if your friend likes it, then start buying that.

In Europe there is Discho Microfibre and Microfibre 2, where the latter 10% cheaper is. The difference has already been noted by Knife.

I've got Microfibre 2 in stock so he wants to try it. Would you string microfibre tighter then PPA to compesate for the softer stringbed?

I understand now. I would start with the same tension and adjust from there if needed.

First week of August I'll be in Berlin. Before that I'll be in Bavaria.

About how often should full poly be restrung? When it breaks? After a few weeks? A month? Depends on?

Thanks for help.

Hey Mikeler, can you recommend me some multis that play similar to V-Feel? I don't know if you've used that, but typically I hybrid it with Cyclone, but it's fun to mix it up and try new strings.

I dont live in Berlin. We could maybe hit in Lubeck , oder Kiel??

I don't plan on traveling that far unless I'm going to stay a few nights in the area. Perhaps next summer.

This is a multi thread! I've never been one to notice polys going dead so I typically play them until they break. Since I've got an ESP racket now that is usually around the 15 hour mark with Volkl Cyclone Tour but much shorter with many other polys.

Are you vacationing in Germany @mikeler or business?

Vacation. If you are around the area, let's hit and talk strings.

I've never played with V-Feel. My general feeling on Volkl strings is this, they make terrible multis but excellent polys.

"Yeah, well that's just like, uh, your opinion, man."
