Yeah. Can't wait for the WC game tonight between Houston and NYY. You think 9 years is long. Try being a Jays fan. First time in 22 years. Mind you, the Mets have a longer WS winning drought than the Jays. :p

P.S. Donaldson for AL MVP. :D

Kuechel was sharp tonight on three days rest and the Astros bullpen rebounded from a horrible September against the slumping Yankee bats.

KC vs Astros will be close...would love to see the upset but having to play the one-game WC messes up the rotation.

Cubs at Pirates will be epic. It's crazy we will lose one of the three best teams record-wise after this game and the survivor has to play the best record team.

I like Toronto to win the ALCS and face the Dodgers in the World Series. That would be a dream pitching/powerhitting matchup. If so, I say Dodgers in 7, maybe with Kershaw doing a Bumgarner imitation and closing Game 7.

Today I heard that, based on WAR, the pitching matchup between Arrieta and Cole is one of the 5 greatest in the history of baseball, for elimination games.

I cannot f'ing wait for tonight's game. The most excited I've been for a baseball game that doesn't include the Mets. The two best managers in the playoffs plus an epic pitching matchup. Think the Cubs pull it off if Arrieta goes at least 7. Pirates are the scariest postseason team imo best bullpen top 2 manager very good lineup and bench. Would rather play the Cardinals or Cubs if the Mets get by the Dodgers want nothing to do with the Pirates.

Blue Jays in 5, Royals in 4 can't see either team losing, don't really follow AL baseball tho so I could be way off

Are you taking your buddy Steve Bartman with you to the game tonight?

Certainly excited; of course I'm one of the disgruntled fans, as my team, the Pirates, have the second best record in baseball, yet have to play the 3rd best record, in the Cubs in just one game. So the loser goes home, while 6 teams with lesser records get to play in real-length series. Anyway, the Cubs are my second favorite, so not a terrible blow if the Bucs lose. At least make the WIld-Card Round best 2 of 3.

Face a team for the 3rd time in 3 weeks (6th time all year) in their home park in a winner take all game and throw a shutout. That was impressive give this man the cy young he has been on another level since the all star break

This stuff from Arrieta is the best this Cubs fan has seen since... ever?

Babe Schwarber's 2-run HR was one of the most majestic things I've seen on a baseball field. That ball was destroyed.

Ron Guidry learned his slider from Yankee closer Sparky Lyle to launch his GOAT '78 season. Can Jon Lester pick Arrieta's brain and come up with the goods necessary to get the Cubs back to Wrigley tied or better vs the Cards???

I'll be in Chicago on Monday. Could stay Tuesday. How can I find tickets to Monday and Tuesday at Wrigley Paris? I need a pair.

It's about time you finally realized that.

Are you looking for both games? It's gonna be 'spensive. I don't know what kind of luck I'll have, but I'll talk to my ticket guy.

You're not planning on wearing any Cardinals garbage, are you?

I'm not looking into this too seriously, but I will be in the area, so I'm looking around. I have a friend I can stay with in Chicago and Frontier will sell me a one-way back to Salt Lake for $50, so my only real cost will be the tickets, so it's worth looking at. But I doubt I'll actually go. My flight now is 3:30 Monday, so I'd just fly back Wednesday instead.

I hear Mondays game MIGHT be early and there may not be a game 4. That said, my guy has tickets $375-$800 each, depending on seat section. No "deals" to be found for this event.

Cubs D really made a few clutch plays late in that game.

Putting Schwarber in RF even though he had little experience. Then he drives in the first run and hits an absolute bomb.

Credit to the cubs for drafting Schwarber in the forst place. The talk was he was destined to be a DH at best because he was such a terrible catcher (and he is). Cubs said eff that crap. If you can hit like that we will figure it out.

I love this wild card though. If you cant win your division you should not have it easy. And best of 5 for the LDS should really hurt the wild card team. Although the Giants and Royals didnt care last year. But only getting one start from your ace becuase you had to use him for the one gamer hurts way more in the 5 game series than it does in 7.

If the schedules were balanced i could agree with the argument about wins. But it is near impossible to schedule a season so that every team plays the same team home and away the exact same amount of times.

And these on gamers are all kind of enjoyable.

Monday appears to be slated 3rd of the 4 games played, so that means 5:30 CST.

Tickets for this series in St. Louis are much cheaper. All the other series are much cheaper. But Cubs fans are bidding these tickets through the roof. Big Auction Site, Stub Hub, etc have the cheapest ticket (single) ~$300. Don't think I'm feeling like spending $1,000 for two pair of tickets to sit in the bleachers. I'll just watch it on TV.

Is Steve Bartman still alive?
Ya, Paris and Bart were hanging out yesterday. But Paris is always friends with guys named Bart. Just look at his good buddy Bartelby.

By the way Dedans, are you a Yankees or Mets fan?

That part works, but it's sort of dumb that the wildcard game boils down to who has the best pitcher on their staff.

Me and the Barts? We're like this... I'll tell you what - since I couldn't get you a ticket to Wrigley, I'll send either Bartman or Bartelby to you so you guys can watch the game together on TV. Bartman will be harder to get though since he's actually liked better in Chicago than Bartelby.

First time since 1923 that visiting teams have won the first four postseason games.

Price was flat for Toronto from too much rest and the Jays can't hit Gallardo.

Houston stuck with McHugh after their rain delay and he did not disappoint, yielding only two solo shots by Morales, one before the break and one after.

Beltre's back injury could be devastating for the Rangers. Donaldson should be OK after getting kneed in the head.

Price wasn't flat lmao he just sucks in the postseason.
6 starts 0-6
31 1/3 innings pitched
43 hits
25 runs 24 earned
7 walks 33 k's
8 home runs
6.89 era

Price has not been impressive in the postseason thats for sure. Resting him for 11 days did not help.

I think toronto will get to hamels and even the series out, then win the nesxt two to win in 4

I also think queto will bring it and split that series. Royals will eventually win in 5

I think Mets are going to win game one 2 to 1 after dodgers bullpen blows the game or mattingly leaves kershaw in after the 6th. One or the other will happen. And I wont blame mattingly for not wanting to go tho that terrible bullpen. Mets sweep

Cubs win game one (playoff Lester) but cards will win the next three

Seriously tho I think we split the first two which is fine since matz and harvey >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> whoever la sends out in 3 and 4. Degrom should be able to match kershaw and syndergaard has the talent to match greinke but who knows if postseason nerves will get to him since he's 22

Yanks......to paraphrase the late, great 'Voice of the Yankees' Mel Allen: "those (slumping) bats are going....going......gone!"

Termite sticks after the All-Star break. C'est la vie. The newbreed Houston "Colt 45's" are a good, young team...I wish them well (their 'softball' unis notwithstanding). :D

It's been a few years since I've been in Wrigley, and they have made extensive changes. I don't know where they corral the sro folk, but I think it's mostly in the rear of the 1st level. Several seats to rear are obstructed; I'm sure it's even more of an issue for sro. If you want some sort of Wrigley Field experience, and the price is right, I don't see why you couldn't make a good time out of it. Btw, don't knock the bleachers. It's a great place to watch the game from.

Utley is still a dirty piece of **** and the umps are pathetic. That's a double play that ends the inning and we're still up 2-1 with 2 innings left.

The first part is true. The second part would be true before 2014 but replay showed Tejada didn't touch second base. 2-2 and the Dodgers continue batting.

Illegal "slide" (if you wanna call a tackle a slide) so Utley is out (also argueable he was outside the base paths) and the illegal slide prevented tejada from having a play at first so that runner is called out too. That's what should've been called so the mets would've gotten out of the inning and most likely win with clippard and familia coming in to finish it.

Rules say hes out. Umps got it wrong and gifted the Dodgers a win.

Clippard gave up a run on two hits to the four batters he faced in game 1 so it's not automatic a 2-1 lead holds up.

The Royals with a little 2014 magic. Hopefully some home cooking at the K will mean they survive and advance on Wednesday.
