    Born in the USSR

On my opinion it was a return-on-investment kind of thinking. Only the sole entrepreneur and investor was the government and the athletes were government workers. The investor used to decide which sport was most promising in terms of returns ( obviously decisions were in favor of winter sports...

    Born in the USSR

Agree Vostok is a Russian word, should be written "Восток" = East in English. The factory was located in Tartu, Estonia. Estonian language uses Latin alphabet. So it was kind of natural to them using latin letters. My guess the word was so popular in transliteration because of the early...

    Born in the USSR

The Kneissls manufactured under licence appeared close to the 90s. I do not know where the factory was. The bigger one (Progress) was fairly popular. I have tried both, and I also have tried the original White star. ( my coach in the university played with the White star ) The original frame...

    Born in the USSR

It was not that dramatic. The racket I mentioned was pretty decent. I could have switched to aluminum frames for example because they wont break and I could live with 3 frames for a few years. I considered Head Master. But I did not switch because it was not radically better. Jack Kramer was...

    Born in the USSR

For 350r in the ussr you could feed a family of four for a month or two. I preferred government issued gear )) Another factor was lack of access to stringing machine. I can string wood frame without a machine. 6 grip was okay for a wood racket. The smaller head you have the bigger grip you want...

    Born in the USSR

This is what we played with in the USSR ( not volkls, not maxplys ) I say WE because those frames were available for competitive young players though the clubs. It was not possible to get them in the stores. After you reach cat. 1 level ( russian word "razriad" ) you were entitled to get two...

Can TE improve even though u keep playing?

I did it. It took me a month of playing after a 15 years break to develop serious TE and GE. And if took me 2 years to heal it while keep playing. I can elaborate if you are intersted, but obviously I would not recommend this approach.

You are doing nothing wrong. Better than not practicing them at all.

I know. but it is not the same as hitting real lobs. You cant hit targets , change depth, hitting overheads from. the baseline, apply spin and so on.

Thanks. Probably putting it on an umpire chair will do the job The only shot I can’t practice because nobody wants practicing it ))

Can your machine throw lobs for practicing overheads?

Does isometric headshape on yonex do anything for you

I played 2 years with 97 sq in. Vcore tour G. Sweetspot was notably smaller than Wilson ps 90 and my old Estusa power beam which is smaller than 90. Spin factor in Yonex was less than in both 90 sq in frames. Sweetspot in Tour G also was shifted towards handle. Overall not an easiest frame to...

What happens when you mix a flat hitter with a Babolat Pure Aero?

It is very personal. I can't hit past the service line with a full bed of poly. So I mix it with syn gut. I only think that string selection is the most important process in adjusting to a new frame.

What happens when you mix a flat hitter with a Babolat Pure Aero?

Depth control is a matter of power level of the setup frame+strings. I spent decent amount of time trying to select strings and tension for optimal power level - about 10 string jobs. ( That is why I hate switching rackets ) Once you figure that out depth is not an issue either.

What happens when you mix a flat hitter with a Babolat Pure Aero?

This court is fast. But he is generally tough to play on any surface and balls skid the same way on hard or clay. My point was that PA apparently has no control issues for a flat hitter even with one of the most powerful strings. I've tried his rackets a few times and did not notice lack of...
