It doesn’t look like the 17 gauge is listed in TW University’s string comparison database. Does anyone out there have any measurables for the 17 gauge in terms of:
- total tension loss
- total tension loss percentage
I do use the Tune app, but like to refer to TW University as...
I added 2 inches of TW's tungsten tape to 10:00, 12:00 and 2:00 (i.e. 2 inches in total at each of the three locations, 1 inch on each side).
The swingweight increased from 318 to 329 with Yonex vibration dampener (measured using Babolat RDC).
My 2021 Vcore Pro 97 310's are now AMAZING!!!!!
Yeah, I suppose it boils down to the fact that a) its not the same group who reviewed the 2019 version and b) reviews are always subjective.
Its a great reminder that people should actually demo racquets and determine what works best for their game.
Well here’s the baffling as expected written review of the 310.
It’s even more bizarre considering the scores given the 2019 version as well as the reviews of so many within this thread...
My two were spot on:
332 strung static weight (including Yonex overgrip and vibration dampener)
320 swing weight (including Yonex vibration dampener)
By the way, I didn’t use the matching service so I’m guessing I either a) got lucky; or b) got frames from Yonex’s second batch (as I’ve...
That makes sense. If I didn’t jive with my new setup I’d try that same thing. I had been using the 97HDs for the past few years, but the static weight with strings, overgrip and Yonex vibration dampener was 348. My new setup is feeling great and is 13 grams lighter.
One whole 8 inch strip of TW tungsten tape is approximately 2.8 grams. I’m only using six inches per racquet (two 1 inch strips at 10, 12 and 2). I believe that would mean I only added about .70 grams at all three spots. Does that make sense?
I found my perfect setup with the 2021 97 310’s.
Using the TW tungsten tape, I put two one inch strips at 10:00, 2:00 and 12:00 (six one inch strips in total). The static weight only went up from 332 to 335, but the swing weight went from 320 to 325. It’s amazing how stable it feels all over...
Yes, I think it did increase power a bit.
However, that was a bit of a negative as I’m not really looking for free power. I think I actually prefer it stock (i.e. 320 swing weight). I’ll post an update after I get out again this weekend.
I'm loving the VCP 97 310's as well.
I measured both of mine on a Babolat RDC and they were both:
332 static weight (with grip and yonex vibration dampener)
320 swing weight
I added four two inch strips of the TW tungsten tape to 10 and 2 on both racquets.
Updated specs are:
I received my tungsten tape from TW.
I put two-inch strips at 10 and 2 on both racquets (i.e. four in total on each racquet).
The new specs are:
- Swing weight of 325
- Static weight of 336
- 5 points head light
I haven't been able to try it out yet, but am looking forward to doing so.
