Do I really have to hit with topspin?

maybe so, but data without insight is pretty useless.

Do I really have to hit with topspin?

Which understood better Imo, tells you Sinner is newer to the tour and has not grasped the difference between the rally shot vs when to go on the attack. Novak started out this way, but learned at the top of the game, you must be more discerning about when to go bigger.

Do I really have to hit with topspin?

but notice how he had to learn to "lift and spin" his shots at certain times to make it to the point he arose to this last year.

    Is serve a throwing motion?

yes, like throwing a football, especially the so-called "pronation" aspect. Did you know that the Gold Standard of tennis, Pete Sampras was developed by Dr Fisher and largely based on throwing the javelin?

What coach instruction "Play with only 3 strings" means?

hopefully he means the 3 strings between the throat and the center of the strings.

    Bent or straight Arm Forehand

I don't think anyone said DJ wins because of his bent arm Fh, although it would be a very reasonable assumption given the flexibility it offers, but you do claim he wins due to BH and return along with his confidence. Those are reasonable suggestions as well, especially since you mentioned...

    Bent or straight Arm Forehand

yes, avoid the evil poly and go with the wonder soft poly available instead!

    Bent or straight Arm Forehand

Maybe it helps to open the stance a bit, but our players mostly use the semi-western with a bent arm since that is what I recommend. We actually see more issues with players rolling more closed at contact... Imo from poor habits from previous teaching to roll over the ball for topspin.

    Bent or straight Arm Forehand

Nobody has been able to establish any real advantage for the straight arm Fh despite tons of effort to do so. They figure, the 2 Goats (Fed and Nadal) use it so it must be better, right? Then along comes a player who eclipses them both and he has a bent arm Fh. He has a winning record head to...

Hitting Through the Court vs Topspin Drive

Imo, it is best to think of all of these topspins shots as topspin. If the spin is anywhere above level, then it helps bring the ball down to some extent. Powerful low drives don't need much dip and actually stay down after the bounce better due to the lack of heavy dip. That is about half of...

Hitting Through the Court vs Topspin Drive

Many players will tend to favor one or the other. We see that all the time even with tour players. Here is a great old video showing Jimmy Arias vs Gomez where Jimmy's good shots are mainly variations of the Fade drive, while the other players is almost exclusively a lift and spin Draw type...

Hitting Through the Court vs Topspin Drive

I think his size and technique help him to hit hard with control, but as I mentioned earlier, Imo it is these rare shots from 8-12' behind the baseline that give him enough runway to land them at the very back of the court. He just can't hit it the same as the greats from a step inside the...

Hitting Through the Court vs Topspin Drive

The terms in this use refer 1st to the side that the TS tilts to 2nd to the mild curve of the ball and 3rd to the types of stroke that will elicit them. For a righty Fh, the Fade will fade to the outside "or right" as it does for a golfer and the Draw will draw to the inside "or left" as it...
