2019 China Open (Beijing) - WTA Premier Mandatory Thread

I saw that afterwards so you are right, not done deal yet but still most likely Barty will be YE#1. On a side note, reducing the number of points for RR loss makes sense. Getting 375 points for just playing 3 matches it was way too much. It should be 0 points for a loss IMO.

2019 China Open (Beijing) - WTA Premier Mandatory Thread

Did the points allocation change for this year's Finals? Last year and the years before, for the RR matches it was 125 points for loss, 250 for win. If that's the case I stand corrected and then yes, Pliskova and Osaka still have a theoretical shot at YE#1.

As it stands right now, assuming Pliskova and Osaka don't play Moscow in the end, and Barty shows up for all 3 RR matches at the Finals, she will be YE#1 regardless what happens. She is guaranteed 375 points from RR, win or lose, which will put her 1500+ ahead of both.

Bianca Andreescu: under the radar but not for long!

LOL...I think you know this already but just saying anyway .... you have to take with a big grain of salt what you hear from those Romanian commentators.... Will see what happens but she seems to continue her winning streak just fine so far.

I Stand By Bouchard: Leader of the Genie Army, Ready to Rise and Conquer the World!

Looks like Bouchard can't even get past 1R in smallest of the smallest ITF tournaments. She just lost in 3 sets to a player no one probably heard of, ranked #272.

    2019 Wuhan Open - WTA Premier 5

Dang... I'll be in trouble with @Aussie Darcy. But in my defense, before I posted I checked the news and there was nothing yet .... and I still can't find anything on her withdrawal. Not that I don't believe you but what's the source? Wuhan it is... I stand corrected.

    2019 Wuhan Open - WTA Premier 5

First of all you are the only one aggressive here.. If I would've intended to quote you I would've done so, but I didn't. Second of all, Serena is playing Beijing (or so it looks at the moment based on the main draw announcement) ---- fact check again before posting. Third of all, I said all...

    2019 Wuhan Open - WTA Premier 5

There are a number of players that "could be" YE#1 - technically all top 10 players in the Race. Barty is best positioned at the moment with few hundred points as cushion and therefore has a bigger chance than everyone else for sure. It all depends on what happens in Whuan (Barty, Kvitova...

    2019 Wuhan Open - WTA Premier 5

Is that so? Check your facts before you get cocky with other people's posts.... Sloane: Mar 20, 1993 Halep: Sept 27, 1991 That's 17 months and 21 days..... Halep stated in multiple occasions in TV talk shows and interviews in Romanian media that she wants to start a family for herself and...

    2019 Wuhan Open - WTA Premier 5

You used the word "qualifiers" which includes Halep whether or not she played the tournament hence my comment. As for Kerber and Woz... it's no surprise to me and no excuse at all (none needed) since they are nearing the end of their careers for one reason or another and last year was probably...

    2019 Wuhan Open - WTA Premier 5

I think you mean the players who played the tournament not the qualifiers because you are missing Halep who qualified but did not play and she will most likely qualify again (6th year in a row). Pliskova, Kvitova, Halep and most likely Svitolina or Bartens will make it again (expect Serena not...

Bianca Andreescu: under the radar but not for long!

FWIW: She no longer lives in Mississauga and she hasn't for a while. This is where she was born but her parents moved to Thornhill at one point which is where they currently reside and which is a different municipality all together (still in Greater Toronto Area). I highly doubt she will move...

I've Got A Pliskova Easy Feeling!

She's raking up Premier titles and she is jumped to #2 in the Race. She might as well get the YE#1 without winning anything big except for one Premier5.

2019 US Open Women's Final - (8.) SERENA Williams vs. (15.) BIANCA Andreescu

Based on info I gathered from someone I know who had two boys playing at high national level few year ago (they came up with Shapovalov), when the young athletes enter Tennis Canada High Performance Program(s) they are contractually bound to pay certain percentage from their future professional...
