They were definitely the best rivalry I've seen since now. I literally had chills whenever I watched them play. I don't have that feeling with any of the current rivalries.
Djokovic only lost one set in the final to win his first slam while Sinner didn't lose any sets until the sf where he convincingly defeated the king of Australia Open. Whose level was better?
Djokovic never really dominated any slams other than the 2008 and 2011 run in Australia. So it was never really a surprise when he loses like Nadal or Federer at their respective slams at their peak.
Sinner and Alcaraz are just lucky that they're playing against a old Novak and Rafa who are on their way to retirement soon. They wouldn't have won anything in the prime Fedalovic + Murray era.
Djokovic played as worst as he could and still was able to win one set off Sinner. Why even compare him to peak Wawrinka and prime Djoker when he had a hard time putting away a tired Medvevdev?
I guess Djokovic can finally retire now because he definitely isn't going to be winning more slams now that Sinner is peaking. Sinner might even win this slam without losing a set which he never did.
