    Daniil Medvedev dismisses Roger Federer

No big deal for me. He just launches an "attack" on beatable players for him and leaves out the one he cannot beat. ;)

Fred confirms he will play Roland Garros in 2020

A possible 5th set would have been delayed to Saturday back then. Also generally the rivalry didn’t already have the dynamics we later knew and hated as Federer fans. Maybe Rafa would have thought about Miami suddenly again and Federer would have cruised to an easy win in the 5th. I guess those...

Fred confirms he will play Roland Garros in 2020

Yes, if the rallyes have the same length, then it’s relatively better for the body. Normally the rallyes on clay seemed to be longer, so the effect was cancelled out by some degree on a high level, but nowadays with slow surfaces almost everywhere it should be true again.

Fred confirms he will play Roland Garros in 2020

That’s exactly what I thought. But sadly Rafa just won’t go away. ;) Honestly though, I guess many of those guys who recently beat Federer at the US Open wouldn’t beat him at RG.

Fred confirms he will play Roland Garros in 2020

Nice to read! So good that the Slam skipping nonsense is over. Also RG was his 2nd best Slam this year anyway. Maybe he came to the conclusion that he will rather win RG than the US Open.

Federer is now 1-9 against #1 at Slams

But contrary to the others Federer was a non-stop #1 himself for almost 4 years. Also it’s sometimes misleading when a player clearly rises to #1 but isn’t there yet. For example when Federer beat Djokovic at RG 2011, Djokovic was technically by far the best player in the world, but formally not...

Federer is now 1-9 against #1 at Slams

Of course, I was mocking the meaninglessness of this stat. :)

Federer is now 1-9 against #1 at Slams

Too bad Federer couldn't even beat the #1 at his absolute peak.

Any Federer fanatics care that Federer may not finish 2019 in Top 3?

Nice observation, but not really relevant IMO. In the first half of the year the ranking has more to do with the last season than the new one, so for example Federer being #2 for some time early in 2013 or 2016 doesn’t have anything to do with his level in those quite forgettable seasons.

Now I know how Sampras fans feel

Yeah, exactly. If Federer allegedly cannot be GOAT because of some small details, then another one has to be it instead, which means that one needs to bring arguments in favour of this other player. And then good luck finding someone without these "holes". It’s impossible to just dismiss...

Now I know how Sampras fans feel

Some of the "great" names you mentioned won less than Hewitt, Safin and Roddick despite not facing peak Federer. And now imagine what all of those so-called "weak era guys" would have won without Federer, except maybe Philippoussis and Rusedski (who were rather part of the Sampras era anyway)...

Now I know how Sampras fans feel

I would rather say 1996. Because 1997 really was a great year with 2 Slams, 2 Masters and 2 Year-End-Championships (WTF and Grand Slam Cup). However, after 1997 (with only 26 years) it was all downhill. In 1996 and 1998 he was #1 with one Slam and zero Masters (Super 9). However, in 1996 at...

Now I know how Sampras fans feel

Come on, if you call Federer’s era weak and at the same time want to glorify Sampras’ opposition, then a real debate is over.

Now I know how Sampras fans feel

I said that in combination of power and precision Federer is the best. Of course there were people who could hit the ball harder or just took more risks than him. However, I don’t think Djokovic has more pure power than Federer. He is mainly a precision player (which by the way doesn’t mean...

Now I know how Sampras fans feel

I agree that Becker at his best was great, but his problem was keeping that level for longer. Even in one match it was always up-and-down with him, and that's why his matches were so emotional. However, Agassi pretty much owned Becker in H2H (I was wrong, he even leads him 10-4 instead of 9-5)...
