Much Better on Clay than Hard

That's a big reason I am much better on clay. I can put away balls when I am in very good position to do so, but from the baseline it's more about getting balls back and making opponents uncomfortable (for instance: moon balls, short angles, drop shots, drawing them to the net and then...

Much Better on Clay than Hard

Is this this the case for anyone else? I am a high 4.0 player on clay, but on hard courts I am definitely a low 4.0. I am fast and have a lot of stamina, can handle the long rallies on clay and am always trying to get a bunch of balls back. I also try to put a lot on my forehand and am good in...

Can You Play 4.0 and Open At a Tournament ?

Guy I played in the semis apparently ended up winning the title! I was two points away from taking the second set and getting it to a match tiebreak. Darn!

Can You Play 4.0 and Open At a Tournament ?

Lost my semifinal match 6-2, 7-6(6). My legs were gone after yesterday, but credit to him for winning the match. He served for the match in the second set and choked from 6-3 to 6-6 in the tiebreak, I just didn't have it in me today in the heat, but I think it was a successful tournament!

Can You Play 4.0 and Open At a Tournament ?

Won my quarterfinal match 7-6(2), 7-5. The match was around 2 hours and 15 minutes long for two sets. One of the most physical tennis matches I have ever played. An absolute battle.

Can You Play 4.0 and Open At a Tournament ?

Won my round of 16 match 6-2, 6-1. I was very consistent and hit winners when I had to. Glad I got at least one win!

Can You Play 4.0 and Open At a Tournament ?

I play later today in the 4.0 division! It could be a humbling experience for me, but hopefully I will just go out there, do my best, and try to have some fun!

    Most humbling USTA experiences?

A couple times. The first time I played Flex League, I thought I was much better than I was. I remember in the first set charging the net from a ridiculous position and easily getting passed, thinking to myself, "Oh ****". I got blown out in the first set and ultimately lost the match in...

Saw a real life moonballer in USTA.

Thought of this thread yesterday after a match against someone I've played a few times, who started pushing towards the beginning of the second set. I just decided I was going to stay consistent and get the ball deep, attacking if I knew for sure it was the right opportunity. So, we would play...

Can You Play 4.0 and Open At a Tournament ?

For sure. At my best, I know that I can compete at a 4.5 level, but if there are going to be a bunch of almost exclusively 5.0-6.0 players, the entry fee is too big to justify it. I'm headed to a different city soon, and will look into tournaments at my new destination when I get there.

Can You Play 4.0 and Open At a Tournament ?

Agreed. Not worth spending the money on. I think I'm going to stick with the 4.0.
