Tsitsipas comments on playing Medvedev - “It’s just boring”

Medvedev does not give pace to work with. He is excellent at steadily hitting at a 3/4 length and pace and will wait for the right moment to inject pace and move in for the kill. A Murray like style of playing, basically, but combined with servebotting which makes him even more frustrating to...

Tsitsipas comments on playing Medvedev - “It’s just boring”

I don't completely agree because he has a specific problem with Medvedev. Called him a bullsheet Russian the first time he lost to him. Unfortunately, it was the first of what is already a handful of losses.

But Tsitsi does broadcast a lot about himself, so it also isn't hard. Didn't he also say bullsheet Russian to Medvedev the first time he lost to him? Yeah, I think he better stop thinking he is entitled to beat him if he wants to turn around his H2H.

Tsitsipas comments on playing Medvedev - “It’s just boring”

Yup, fought like a lion against Nadal in his first slam final. Has been in the finals of the last three masters he played and won the last two. I don't really see Medvedev winning lots of slams and all that but he reminds me of Kafelnikov in many ways, ugly to watch but very gritty and tough...

    Leaving TTW

Well, I am on one and the most popular topic there is American politics because we have done Genesis vs Yes a million times. But do suggest any other topics if you care to and I will open threads there if they are novel.

Mats Wilander vs Stefan Edberg: Greatest Career?

Edberg spent more time at no. 1, had the YEC and also fared better at his worst slam than Wilander. It's close but the above IMO neutralizes the 1 slam advantage Wilander has.

    Federer never recovered after 2017

Yes, I thought when he won somehow against Cilic that he is never going to win a Slam again. I was (almost) wrong. He had two championship points on Djokovic and he would have actually beaten both Djoker and Nadal back to back had he seen it through. So I am still optimistic about his chances...

Oreilly Opelka - A future Sampras or yet another American serve bot?

No, no, I did not find Delpo, it was YOU who said "even Delpo won a slam and he doesn't have a backhand". So, no, it was you who decided to knock a much better player just to talk up Opelka and precisely because Opelka has nothing but a 250 to show for his efforts to date.

Oreilly Opelka - A future Sampras or yet another American serve bot?

Did you ever stop to think that when a player is in the backhand corner hitting forehands, he WILL be targeted on his forehand corner too? And that when Delpo is pushed to run across to his forehand corner, he is well able to cover it? Point at 6:22 here, runs across a number of times and...

Oreilly Opelka - A future Sampras or yet another American serve bot?

Excuse me, are you even slightly aware of Delpo's career? Going by your lame civil rights joke, I don't think so. Anyway, Delpo was 20, I repeat 20, when he won the US Open in 2009. Had already reached the RG semis that year and pushed Fed mighty hard. Beat Fed again at the YEC and reached...

Oreilly Opelka - A future Sampras or yet another American serve bot?

Wow, you're telling people to stop making 'excuses' for Delpo when your guy has achieved exactly what? Delpo has 22 titles, has been ranked as high as no.3 and beat ****ing Roger Federer back in 2009 (when he had won two slams back to back) in his first slam final. You're the one trying to...

Oreilly Opelka - A future Sampras or yet another American serve bot?

Move, move, move the goalposts. You said he doesn't even have a backhand (as if Opelka is far more balanced off both wings than him). He clearly did used to have an adequate one. And your boy doesn't have Delpo's forehand anyway, so knocking down Delpo's backhand achieves exactly what?

Oreilly Opelka - A future Sampras or yet another American serve bot?

Eh, no, Delpo had a pretty good backhand until he lost it to a wrist injury and had to start slicing. Not to mention Delpo's forehand is from another planet, compared to Opelka.
