Drop shot in league singles, just got abused for using it...

I've been known to hit a drop shot or two, and I've never once felt bad about it. You shouldn't, either.

    Highest level 4.0/4.0 play

FWIW, hitting that shot doesn't feel like it's putting any strain on my arm/elbow and never has. I hit the minimum portion of the ball necessary to get it over the net, so there isn't all that much resistance.

For this particular match, I wore the forearm brace because my elbow had been aching earlier in the day. The brace didn't seem to be making any difference, so I took it off during the match. As it happens, the next day I had a big bruise on my elbow, so I think I must have inadvertently bumped...

USTA survey about leagues ? (40's format)

We have 1/4 here but I would much prefer 2/3. I also don't like that playoffs are 1/3.

In your opinion, how large is the variance between regions? A full NTRP level? Half that?

Adult competition path for non-cheaters (singles)

I'm quite aware of this individual, but we have never played. Did you read that we had on his website? :D

5.5 vs. 5.0 - Good stuff to take away.

This. Lest we forget, USTA is first and foremost a business. If they had denied Ian's appeal, they essentially would have lost him as a paying customer for leagues in his District, since MKE does not have any 5.0 leagues. That's one reason I think if anything, less populated areas are often...

I am open to this for sure! Disagreements should be settled on the court whenever possible.

5.5 vs. 5.0 - Good stuff to take away.

That I don't know, I'm just going by what USTA currently has on its website. I'm sure @PilotPete can tell us what Ian's "true" rating is using his usual esoteric methodology. But does it even matter? Ratings are arbitrary social constructs with severe regional inconsistencies anyway, right? ;)

Correct, Ian is a 5.0 per USTA.

5.5 vs. 5.0 - Good stuff to take away.

Last I heard the talk was September, after USTA summer season ends and there's been a bit of a break. We may be letting ET off the hook a bit weather-wise, but it should still be plenty warm here.

5.5 vs. 5.0 - Good stuff to take away.

That would be singular, not plural. The sample size in arguing against the theory is one.
