Buy New or Buy a Used Demo

Thanks all - I bought the demo for $85... I misunderstood his offer, he was offering the $15 demo credit for buying the used racket as well.

Dunlop Bio Max 200G vs Donnay Gold 99

Just following up, I bought a lightly used demo racket of the Donnay Gold 99, now strung with tour bite 16L at 51 lbs. It has plenty of power, I think the first time I demoed the poly strings must have been a little dead. Or perhaps I just needed to get used to it. I still might put a little...

Oops - this belongs in the Racquets section. Can it be moved somehow?

Buy New or Buy a Used Demo

I've decided to buy a Donnay Gold 99. My shop doesn't carry Donnay anymore, but they offered me a choice: order a new one for $178 (minus a $15 demo credit I have with them) -OR- sell me the demo racket for $100. They estimated it has been taken out for a demo test 10-15 times (3-5 days each...

Dunlop Bio Max 200G vs Donnay Gold 99

Another quick follow up, played two sets of doubles with the demo Donnay Gold 99 yesterday. - I put a small amount of 1/4 inch lead tape at 10 and 2, and it was a very humid day. Depth and pop on groundies seemed to come easier than when I first hit with it. - Hit a few nice reaction...

Dunlop Bio Max 200G vs Donnay Gold 99

Thanks. Well so far out of my three demos, I *think* I'm getting the most pop from the 98-inch Dunlop F 3.0. And I'm not saying the Donnay Gold 99 is way too underpowered... could very easily just be something I can adjust too. Maybe a tad bit of lead tape, maybe 1lb looser on the strings...

Dunlop Bio Max 200G vs Donnay Gold 99

Follow up, I picked up the demo Donnay Gold 99 today and was able to hit with some folks for about 45 minutes. First impressions: - Great feel and control. Sweet spot feels huge, feel like I simply can not miss on my "80% rally ball." - If I'm honest it might be a tiny bit underpowered for...

Dunlop Bio Max 200G vs Donnay Gold 99

Thanks all, helpful info. Gonna demo the Donnay Gold 99 this weekend, hope it has enough pop for me. Second thoughts about the 200g, if it swings heavier than a radical pro. I was thinking about pulling the trigger without a demo, better not do that. Thanks again.

Dunlop Bio Max 200G vs Donnay Gold 99

Thanks much SmilinBob, good reviews. Hopefully I'll find the max 200g to be "whippy" as well, as I've learned that I don't much like a swingweight that approaches 330. I realized this by demoing the head radical pro. Another website lists a higher swingweight for the Dunlop than is listed...

Dunlop Bio Max 200G vs Donnay Gold 99

Bump, any comments? I'll actually get a chance to demo the Donnay this weekend. But I probably won't get to demo the max 200g. There is some conflicting info out there on specs and perceived power in the 200g, just curious to get fresh perspective from folks. Thanks!

Dunlop Bio Max 200G vs Donnay Gold 99

Starting to look into new frames. Anyone out there with thoughts on these two (the Dunlop and the Donnay)? Been playing with prince o3 tour mp for years. So far I've demoed head radical pro (tad sluggish) and Dunlop F3.0 tour. I liked the F3.0 okay, but not sure I want 18x20 string...

Online (or DVD) Serve Instruction - recommendations?

Can we get a list going for good online instruction, free or pay? I did a forum search but don't think this has been done yet. Specifically, I'm looking for serve instruction for advanced players (say 4.0+). I know fuzzyyellowballs, and I think it's good, just want to check out a few others...

Are we headed for ESPN Ocho?

Mardy Fish highest ranked American. Nobody interesting in the pipeline. Djoker might dominate for a few years. Fed to retire? I think pro tennis is headed for the hinterlands on the TV dial...
