    Men's Style Thread

    I'd avoid wearing the light brown oxfords with a dark colored suit. That's daft. Get some better quality shoes, the "I'm somebody's boss" kind of shoe. A few years back I bought my nephew a copy of a book done bye Esquire magazine about men's style. Just a nice little primer;

One nice thing about suits is that they conceal extra pounds very effectively. But yeah, being in trim shape is VITAL. . . SO many of your peers are fat slugs and pasties from sitting doing video games in the dark.

OP: what you really want are a couple of nice suits, nothing too "stylish" or faddish. Good fabric last longer than cheap fabric. No need to blow thousands. Women love a man in a suit. Heck, I've even had women get out of my way.

    Questions about watches

Oh, there's the flip side to this, too. Not only is the term a pejorative when coming from the non-Rolex guy, but it CAN have that kind of meaning. It's not always not nothing. With anything expensive, the spender can CLING to the possession and wield it like a status weapon. . . and CAN be a...

Gamma X-2 Stringer - I have to keep tensioning with Synthetic Gut and Multifilaments

Interesting post from my perspective: I started stringing just BEFORE polys came out. . . so to me stretching is normal fare, and poly (and kevlar) is weird for NOT stretching!

    Questions about watches

FRV2, you sound like a young guy. Worth pointing out the real problems of owning luxury watches (so many just sit in drawers and safes and bank boxes; maintenance costly, and an object easy to break). In a lot of ways, putting money in expensive watches is like buying art glass---fragile stuff...

    Cogitations on Pizza Dough

Thanks so much: I think it might be just letting it get back up to room temperature over time that might be the missing link here.

I helped save a person's life in a house fire.

What would you REALLY want to do?

I'd go small business: your profits are your own, your creativity and energy counts for something real. Not so much bureaucracy and wasted efforts.

    gamma X-2- déformation risk?

Yeah. I bought a spare clamp and for the mains, I use three; I do one string on either side at a time.

What would you REALLY want to do?

Curious. I was recounting to my wife the story of a fellow who left a "great" job to run his own little business. Made me wonder how many senior partners are discontent.

    Cogitations on Pizza Dough

Oh more than that. I've learned that three days rest in the refrigerator is the way to go. But the dough's still hard to work and thin out; it all springs back unless lotsa pounding.
